Covid-19 has changed the way we do business. We will be following the Covid-19 guidelines sale day. However, if you don’t feel comfortable attending or unpredictable weather prevents you from attending the sale, that is no problem at all. Let us know what you need and we will try and accommodate you. No one knows the bulls and our cows better than we do. We will help you in selecting your new herd sire in any way.

It is with great excitement that we will be hosting our bull sale at the ranch this year. We have talked about doing this for years and now we are doing it. Welcome to the Sale! Thanks for taking the time to review our catalog and look at what we have to offer. We have an excellent selection of two year old and yearling Horned Hereford Bulls that will fit anyone’s breeding program and budget. The quality of the bulls is at the highest.

The Cowherd

We ranch in the Back 40 you might say, south of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in the Missouri Coteau Hills. We manage our purebred and commercial cows the same way. 95% of our land base is native grass. Pastures are large and water is scarce. Cows need to be good footed due to the distance they need to travel for water. Every cow is expeced to raise a good quality calf and rebreed in a timely fashion. Udder quality is of the utmost importance. Our herd sire selection criteria is based on the quality of the dam first and the rest of the criteria follows. We have tried to picture as many mothers to the sale bulls as possible so you can see the type of cattle we raise. We are proud of our cowherd and feel we are on the right track, but there is always room for improvement. I think you will pretty impressed with the pictures in the catalog. Mothers will be available for viewing on sale day. Just ask us and we will take you through the cows.

Bull Selection & Development

• The two year old sale bulls are kept specifically for this sale to keep quality at the top. They are not left overs from the previous sale. After weaning, the sale bulls are provided a maitenance TMR ration. We manage them to grow. There is no benefit in putting a lot of weight on them because they just run it off when they go to native grass in May as long yearlings. The beginning of November they receive rolled oats and then we trail them home mid December where they are put on a silage/hay/grain ration. • We do sell a minimal amount of yearlings bulls in the sale to fulfill the needs of our buyers. They are representatives off of 50 plus bull calves. The remainder is kept for the next year’s sale. The quality is from the entire group. • We do not trim feet on the sale bulls. We believe buyers appreciate this so they can see exactly what they are buying. Poor footed and structured bulls never make it to the sale pen. They get a one way ticket to town. • Every purebred calf born at Triple A is weighed with a scale to ensure accuracy. Something to consider is that length of body is most difficult to breed in cattle. Calves with a lot of length will have higher birth weights. • Lastly, we do not creep feed. The weights are the weights. We believe if you creep feed, how do you really know the true production of your cows.

9121 - He walked the pastures here for 10 years. His feet were never trimmed. The majority of our cowherd traces back to him.

Two time Agribition Champion Bull and Commercial People’s Choice Herd Bull at the 2015 Medicine Hat Pen Show. He may be more moderate, but he is thick, stout and his daughters are really nice moderate cows that can forage and covert feed quite easily. His bulls in the pen are round muscled and square hipped. We flushed his mother numerous times. She was moderate, good footed, easy fleshing and perfect uddered. She is featured in our ranch video on our website.

Very pleased with how the 126E calves have turned out. Really nice birth weights due to the Sensation in the pedigree. He has bred well here. We are calving a number of 126E daughters this year and they are really broody and have really nice udders. Quite the Bull. A total outcross for most Canadian Hereford programs. This is one stout yearling bull. He may be the biggest hipped calf we have ever raised here. If you combine his thickness with his length of body and look out. 4H is out of a first calf heifer named Fresh. Fresh was Luke’s 4-H heifer and won Reserve Female at the 2019 CWA National Hereford Show. Fresh is a super uddered female that did a whale of a job on her first calf. Not sure how Luke does it. Every year he has a good bull in the sale. 101H is no exception. Many that have been throught the bull pen this winter think he may be the best calf in the pen. He is super think topped, tons of hair with a big square butt and long as a freight train. His mother just calved and we will get a picture of her and update it on the website. She is a typical Sensation daughter with a square tight udder and small teats. Very nice cow. Take a look at this rascal sale day.

Very nice short marked yearling that is deep and soggy. His mother has been a consistent producer for us Handyman will sire some calves with hair and style.

Yearling Bulls Lot 5 Another stand out son of 14B that is short marked with tremendous testicle development and maturity. We are real proud of this bull on what he can offer any program. In my mind, he is one you could build a cow herd around. Take it from me, I know these bulls better than anyone. 30H has a fault free dam behind him. His full brother, Gibson, sold to Lock Farms through this sale last year. I think these two bulls are very comparable in type and shape.

Very interesting bull here. Long, deep and shortmarked bull with a nice birth weight. We especially like the pigment around those eyes. Big hip and top on this bull. Terms and Conditions

Terms: The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at the sale unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. The auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance to the sale with the owner or Sales Manager. Bidding: Each animal is to be sold to the highest bidder. A reasonable price base may be set. Disputes: In case of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters is final.

Purchaser’s Risk: Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. Announcements: Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Certificate of registry: Each animal will carry papers issued by the Canadian Hereford Association. A certificate of registry duly transferred will be furnished to the buyers for each animal after settlement has been made. Breeders Guarantee, bulls: Should any bull (14) fourteen months of age or over, fail to prove a breeder after being used on cows known to be breeders, the matter shall be reported in writing to the seller within (6) six months following date of purchase or (6) six months after the bull has reached (14) fourteen months of age. The seller will then have the right and privilege of (6) six months to prove the bull a breeder. No guarantee is given that semen collected from the bull will freeze. In no event shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price. The seller is not responsible for damage caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchase price of the bull.

Exception guarantee: In cases where the animal was subjected to hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, this guarantee shall be null and void. Settlement: Transportation charges on animals returned to the seller are for account of the purchaser. No incidental expenses such as feed, care, A.I., signing fees, interest, veterinary charges, etc., will be charged by either party when making settlement. If the seller is successful in proving the animal in question to be a breeder, the said animal will be reclaimed by the purchaser at his expense. Should the seller fail to prove the animal a breeder, then the buyer is guaranteed a satisfactory replacement F.O.B. ranch or location of origin or a refund of the actual price. Should a dispute arise over the quality of the replacement animal, the Sale Management will appoint a mediator. Accidents: Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the sales manager, auctioneer, or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaim any liability, legal or otherwise, in the event of accident or loss of property. Mail or telephone bids: Bidders unable to attend the sale may phone or mail their bids and instructions to the sale manager, auctioneer, or special representatives. Bids must be received in sufficient time prior to the sale. Rights and obligations: The above terms and conditions of the sale shall continue a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction which is not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. USA Purchases: There will be a $300 fee on all American purchases under $5000 to cover health testing and brokerage fees.
