Welcome to Spruce View Charolais

We welcome everyone to our annual bull sale whether you are a previous buyer or a cattle person looking to cross over. Over the past number of years everyone has witnessed the Charolais advantage in the sale ring as well as the feedlot. The Charolais sired calves have proven that they can out perform other breeds in the feedlot spending less time on feed and finishing sooner yet grading just as well as others. The answer is simple, a Charolais bull is what you need to move your feeder pen up to the next level.

Offering 34 long yearling bulls coming from one of Albertas sole 2 yr. old bull suppliers. We do not sell any yearlings so you have a chance to select from our entire pen. Our bulls are fed to last, they are pasture grazed for the summer and fall then fed a corn/barley silage ration with 10# oats. We do not use protein supplements or processed feed. We offer calving ease bulls and performance bulls for cows that will cover more acres and head without loosing body condition with proper management.

We do encourage the buyers to take their purchases home sale day, but if you do not have pen space at that time, they may return home as long as they are insured. Bull Delivery

We are offering free delivery up to 250 km free of charge with any further delivery being charged the cost of fuel. All purchases made via DLMS.ca or telephone may return to the consignors until further delivery arrangements are made. We have no issues arranging transportation for livestock from coast to coast or to our friends south of the border.

We’ll deduct $100 off you purchase if you take your bull home sale day. Any bulls returning home to the sellers will be cared for like prior to the sale until April 1/2023. Bulls staying after that date will be charged $5.00 /day.

All bulls returning to the farm require insurance to cover any accidents that may occur. It’s a small price to pay on your investment!

Herd Health

All sale animals come from homes where full herd health practises are implemented. All sale bulls will be vet inspected and semen evaluated.

For all our friends south of the border, we will take care of getting all the necessary export health tests completed for you at cost. Once the tests are complete, we will assist in arranging delivery to the nearest port of entry or possibly up to your ranch gate. We will assist all buyers as much as possible with pictures or videos upon request. Exchange rate will be announced prior to sale commencement.

Breeder’s Guarantee

Announcements off the block sale day will supercede any printed material. The sale will be conducted under the terms and conditions of the Canadian Charolais Association.

In 2019 Bob Charolais and ourselves were looking for an outcross performance bull to add to our operations. Bob drove down to Rivers ,Manitoba to check out Defender and his dam. After Bob inspected them he called me to say that Defender had awesome feet ,thickness and depth and we should not let this one go by. In excitement , Bob said “you should see the feet and udder on the cow, they’re awesome!” This is the second crop of Defender sons to offer you and we are quite satisfied. They are thick, soggy ,and hairy and should add pounds to anyone’s program.

Brimner Bull 212F is an outcross Red factor bull that we found in Saskatchewan to breed our Red factor females to. This long bodied muscled bull has worked very well for us ,giving us the color where needed as well as adding stretch and muscle to his progeny.

HVA Force is a bull that we teamed up with BOB Charolais to own in 2019. This Homozygous polled Leptin TT bull is one that we felt we needed as an outcross to add natural muscle,hair,depth of body . We never expected him to be a calving ease bull but after calving out his first crop we found out that he checked that box as well.

We are super excited to be offering you another offering of JSR ESTRADA progeny. His progeny are all polled and bring home some of our top weaning weights in fall. Estrada has a bomb proof temperament with great feet and legs. Estrada is in the top 1% for weaning and yearling weights. For those cattlemen who study epd’s, have a look at these. You’ll be pretty hard pressed to find a better set of performance numbers.

The Estradas come out easy and grow like weeds. Estrada is in the top 1% weaning and yearling numbers as well as top 20% milk. He is also in the top 1% percentile for ribeye and marbling. 566’s dam is an excellent milking, great footed, moderate frame no miss female. 566J could surely fit into a purebred herd on some mature heifers.

Terms and Conditions

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location unless satisfactory credit arrangements have been made previous to the sale with sale manager. The right of property & delivery shall not pass until after settlement is made.

BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable time.

ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - The proper Registration paper, will be duly transferred and furnished to the buyer for each animal after settlement has been made upon the Buyer Request.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

GUARANTEE - All animals will carry standard breeding guarantee as specified by the Canadian Charolais Association. At no time shall the seller’s liability exceed the purchased price of the animal.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer or sellers assume any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.
