Chilly Tawa Idli Recipe: Twist your leftover idlis


Tired of eating the same typical idli recipe, want to give some twist into your leftover idlis, this chilly tawa idli recipe is for you. Cut your leftover idlis into cubes and then toss them tangy tomatoes, crunchy onions and peppy spice powders.


And to enhance the flavour, pav bhaji masala is used which is a kind of masterstroke into the recipe. ● ● ● ●

Ingredients required to make chilly tawa idli recipe


Leftover Idlis (cut into cubes) - 8 Butter - 1 tablespoon Garlic paste - ½ teaspoon Onions (finely chopped) ½ cup Tomatoes (finely chopped) ½ cup Haldi powder (turmeric) ¼ teaspoon Chilli powder ½ teaspoon Pav bhaji masala 1 teaspoon Salt - As per taste Lemon juice -1 teaspoon Coriander leaves (finely chopped)-2 tablespoon + for garnish


The process to make Chilly tawa idli recipe

Take a non-stick pan and heat the butter. Then add garlic paste and saute it for 30 seconds on medium flame. Then add onions and saute them for around 2 - 3 minutes or until they turn translucent on medium flame. Now, add tomatoes and continue to saute for 2 -3 more minutes on medium flame until tomatoes are quite soft. Stir occasionally. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, pav bhaji masala and mix them well. Saute the mixture for a minute.

Now add salt along with 2 tablespoons of water. Mix well and continue to saute for a minute. Time to add lemon juice and coriander leaves. Mix well. Finally, add idli cubes and give a gentle toss and further cook for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir occasionally. Switch off the flame and transfer the tawa idlis into a serving plate and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. Chilly tawa idli recipe is ready. Serve hot immediately.
