GANAPATI BAPPA MORIYA I am a big fan of any festival and being in Mumbai there is no way to escape the exuberance that the city is encompassed with during the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities. It’s one more day from today when I write this that the first day 29th August of the Ganesh Chaturthi begins. I can already hear the sounds of dhols from morning till night that pierce through every closed door and window. The invites at friends where they auspiciously have gotten Bappa for his blessings upon their homes, the street music and chaos, the visarjan… everything just so beautiful and feel-good in every manner. I must confess that I have never been part of a procession to take a Ganesh idol for visarjan but have enjoyed every bit of the music and masti that is visible from a distance. No matter how poised your demeanor may be that loud music is bound to make you want to break into a few steps. Last year I chose to be at my cousins place who lives bang opposite Juhu chowpati so I could soak in the complete atmosphere of the festivities. I braved my way in the car towards their house. A 5 minute drive took me 50. But it was worth it as I was surrounded by the dazzling energy of the people all around. All walks of life on the road walking towards the sea with a common goal - to bid adieu to their beloved Ganesha. The rest of the evening I watched Ganesha idols of all sizes being taken for visarjan. Trucks, cars, motor-cycles, on foot… Ganesha had blessed all rich and poor and was now on his way for the final dip. (Side note: I have asked this question to a lot of people but never gotten the right answer. Here’s the question – Why are Bollywood songs of the Shiela ki Jawaani, Lungi Dance, Pinky Paisae etc. kind, the choice of this religious procession? Just out of curiosity.) You know another thing we keep hearing about how Cops don’t do their job right. You need to once see the systematic and controlled handling of the countless crowd that the Mumbai Cops do on the final day of Ganesh Visarjan. It is phenomenal and praise-worthy. This time, I would like to make it a point to visit most of the friends and families on their special Ganesh homecoming days. The energy is positive all around, good-vibes, healthy feelings. The only thing to watch out for is those deliciously enticing-tempting-desirable-colorful sweets. Gotto stay away from them. Oh well… who am I kidding… Festivties have just begun. Bring ‘em on!

by: Avneet Kohli, Leading Image Strategist and Founder of Iopener. In today’s times, regardless of age, gender, position, businessperson or homemaker, all of us need to understand the importance of image. It’s vital that professionals from key industries, across boards are able to distinguish themselves in a crowd and be known for who they really are. To be the leader in your field today, your job, most importantly, requires you to be a head marketer for yourself. You may think that managing your personal brand and image at work is a no brainer, but it isn’t. Ever wondered, why many a times in spite of one possessing the experience and knowledge of a subject, he/she is not given responsibility in an organization? Or does not get taken seriously? Why is his/ her opinion sidelined? The way you portray yourself to people, be it at an interview or a meeting is fundamental in the way the professional relationship will continue thereon. Image Strategy is a step-by-step process of working on one’s Appearance, Body language and Communication skills. A- B –C to project a confident, appropriate and impactful persona. At first, we work on Appearance, as that’s what meets the eye first when you meet someone for the first time, followed by non-verbal messages communicated by one’s postures and gestures. And lastly, the physical use of words to communicate a message correctly. These 3 verticals when worked upon help an individual project a confident, responsible and complete professional image. Here are some pointers to bear in mind: 2. Let go of the heard mentality 1. Be Authentic The first rule of Image Strategy is not to change who you are but to be able to project yourself in a better brighter light by working on your Appearance, Body Language and communication skills to help create an impact and be able to market yourself better.

8

There is just one of you in this world. Hold your ground. Distinguish yourself .You don’t have to do what everyone is doing. Act according to your individual roles, goals, personal style and core strengths. Express the same in your appearance and communication. We all bring different skills, knowledge, and expertise to any challenging situation. Don’t diminish the importance of what you have in your portfolio. Look your worth, project your experience and communicate your strengths.

4. Pay attention to how others perceive you

With the help of a certified image consultant, discover your personal style. Find out what works for you. The right consultant should be able to recommend clothing based on your roles, goals, utility and budget. They’ll help you understand what colors, fits, textures, and patterns, accessories work for you. Bear in mind this does not spend too much. The information you gather, will help you a lifetime to make the right shopping choices.

Nearly 67 % of the impact we have on others when we meet them for the first time is based on one’s Appearance. Hence, take steps to enhance your clothing supported with the right grooming and accessories. The way you dress to work, or to an official event highlight many things about your personality and the way you want to portray yourself. Dress like you mean business. Wear clothes that fit and compliment your profession, body and skin tone.

Lifestyle

3. Realize your core strengths

5. Imitation is not flattery Your personality should be strong enough without having to imitate someone else to gain popularity.

6. Beware of the Internet The growth of the virtual world has created the necessity of managing online identities. Image Strategizing has reached a new level of imperative because of the rise of the Internet. Be careful about what you put up online as prospective employees are now, using social media accounts to vet potential employees before hiring. Despite being purely virtual, social media and online identity have the ability to affect the real world. Keep a check on Pictures of drunken nights, statuses against your company, complaining about your boss, etc.

7. Based on the type of organization, consider providing potential employers access to your personal brand assets. Based on the organization culture, feel free to attach personal brand assets like links to a carefully managed LinkedIn profile, a blog, evidence of having an online following along with your resume. Such efforts, give you better odds of being noticed by potential or current employers.

As you realize the benefits of image strategy you will see how important it is for one to go through the step by step process to build on what is already a brand. Image strategy isn’t just a marketing strategy; it’s about working on your core traits and being who you are to your full potential. Are you ready to take the leap? 9

POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE TIPS TO FORM A STRONG IMPRESSION by Gauri Gupta

BODY LANGUAGE IS ANOTHER WORD FOR NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION. Body language is thought to account between 50 to 70% of all communication. It includes our facial expressions, our eye contact, gestures as well as posture. Most communication experts believe that body language signs worth a thousand words. Why is body language needed? Body language tells someone else what we are thinking or feeling without using vocals. Words can lie but body language is more honest considering it can’t always be controlled or concealed. For example- A man who is lying will avoid making eye contact, might rub his eyes or scratch himself. These are few instinctive gestures that one uses which may suggest that he/she is lying. The 7 basic body language cues that we display and what effect it makes on other people:

FACIAL EXPRESSIONS are also among the most universal forms of body language. Our facial expressions may reveal our true feelings about a particular situation. While you may say that you are feeling fine, the look on your face may tell people otherwise. The expressions used to convey fear, anger, sadness, and happiness are similar throughout the world. EYE CONTACT: The eyes are sometimes called the “windows to the soul” because they can reveal so much about what a person is thinking or feeling. Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying. It can also mean that the person does not trust the speaker enough to take their eyes off the speaker. FIDGETING: Don’t fidget. Fidgeting is a clear sign of nervousness. Fidgeting may also mean that you want out of a situation and your body is getting ready to take flight. If you cannot keep still it means you are worried, tensed and therefore not confident.

SMILE: A genuine smile stimulate good feelings, it directly influences how others respond to you, the smile which we get back actually changes that persons emotional state in a positive way.

HANDSHAKE: The most important part of handshake is palm to palm contact in which you pump the hand once or twice with a secure sturdy grip then release. It conveys openness and creates feeling of comfort between two people. POSTURE: Posture refers to how we hold our bodies as well as overall physical form of an individual. Posture can convey a wealth of information about how a person is feeling as well as hints about personality characteristics, such as whether a person is confident, open, or submissive. CROSSED ARMS: This is a protective posture. We do it when we are feeling cold or nervous, also might indicate that a person is feel defensive, self-protective, or closed-off. If one want to look likeable and confident we need to relax and keep our arms uncrossed.

Body language is fascinating. People rarely recognize how much information they give off and how noticeable it is to the human eye. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO OF A POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE? We should improve our body language to give the right impression and to boost our confidence. People rarely recognize how much information they give off and how noticeable it is to the human eye .It exposes the true mental state of the speaker. body language never lies. 10

Well-heeled: Tips for picking high heels that are better for your feet (BPT) - Few relationships in a woman’s life are as love-hate as the one she has with her high heels. We love them because they look great and make legs appear longer and leaner, helping petite women appear taller and tall women statuesque. The hate, however, comes when the pain begins. High heels are the No. 1 culprit of foot pain for women, according to an American Podiatric Medical Association survey. Nearly half of all women wear heels, and 71 percent of heel-wearers say those shoes hurt their feet, the APMA reports. “With many types of heels, like very high stilettos, foot pain is hard to avoid,” says Dr. Matthew G. Garoufalis, a podiatrist and immediate past president of the APMA. “But it is possible for women to find a happy mid-point between great looks and great pain.” The APMA offers some basic guidelines for choosing better-for-you heels: * Nearly half of heel-owners admit to wearing heels 3 inches or higher. That height, however, shifts body weight forward and puts great pressure on the ball of the foot and the toes. Avoid heels higher than 2 inches. * A high stiletto with a pointy, closed toe is the worst type of shoe for your feet. Instead, choose heels with a generous toe box area and extra cushioning at the front of the shoe. A slight heel or wedge encourages your arch to lift.

* Consider wearing supportive shoes during your commute and changing into high heels after you arrive at the office. This will help minimize the time your feet spend in heels. * Visit the APMA’s website, www. apma.org, to review a list of podiatrist-approved women’s footwear that has earned the organization’s Seal of Acceptance. * If you experience persistent foot pain, see a podiatrist. Feet shouldn’t hurt all the time, and if they do it may indicate injury, irritation or illness. You can

* Kitten heels are a good-looking, foot-friendly option for heel wearers. With a heel height typically less than 1 inch, kitten heels deliver a bit of height without the pressure that higher heels can cause. * Be extra careful when wearing platforms or wedges, as these styles can compromise your balance and stability. Very high shoes may lead to ankle rolls and falls. Choose lower platforms and wedges that secure with ankle straps.

* During warm weather, peep toes tempt women to show off pretty pedicures. Be aware, however, that peep toes can cause toes to slip forward or overlap, and may even push nail edges into skin, causing an ingrown toenail.

doing activities in flat shoes, including exercise.

Finally, even if you’re like the average American woman and own nine pairs of high heels, don’t wear them every day. Daily heel-wearing can cause the Achilles tendon (the strong tendon at the back of your ankle) to shrink, increasing your risk of an injury while

“Treat heels like dessert,” Garoufalis says. “Don’t wear them all the time, just on special occasions.”

Follow these expert rules for gorgeous, resilient hair

(BPT) - Having hair that is resilient means it can bounce back from the constant challenges it undergoes on a daily basis. From morning workouts through evening soirees, the key to stepping out with your best hair is establishing a strong, healthy foundation, starting from the scalp. To help women achieve the hair they have always wanted, Clear Scalp & Hair experts Dr. Francesca Fusco, a leading New York City dermatologist, and celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin, share their go-to rules to live by for brilliant resilient hair.

Rule No. 1 - Fuel your body with power ingredients Make a conscious effort to load up on power ingredients like cucumbers, celery, lemon, kale and aloe-vera to build resilience from the inside out. “Your diet plays an important part in keeping your hair in good condition. Eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon to keep skin and scalp healthy,” says Fusco. Rule No. 2 - Keep hair hydrated Everyone knows that over styling takes a toll on your strands, but what you may not realize is that the scalp can lose up to one ounce of essential moisture a day. From the use of hot tools to constant pulling or coloring, it is important to build resilience so hair can withstand the daily torture it is put it through. “For a little extra TLC, use Clear Scalp & Hair Intense Hydration Deep Hydrating Treatment Mask once a week to replenish scalp and hair with an extra dose of moisture,” says Atkin. 16

Rule No. 3 - Remember that scalp is skin too Over exposure to sun and harsh weather conditions, especially in the summer, can result in scalp and hair damage and dryness. Clear Scalp & Hair Intense Hydration Hydrating Shampoo and Hydrating Daily Conditioner are infused with Nutrium 10, a rich blend of vitamins and nutrients like vitamins B5, C and E and nourishing oils including sunflower, almond, soybean and coconut. Clear helps to restore moisture in the scalp and hair. “The scalp is where hair’s natural strength and beauty comes from so it is important to take care of it. Treat scalp and hair with nourishing ingredients like vitamins C and E to establish a resilient foundation,” says Fusco. 3 myths about microwave foods

Putting herself first: Easy tips to help women to focus on their own health (BPT) - As the caretaker of the family, sometimes Mom is so busy watching over her spouse and children, she forgets to take care of herself. This is the perfect time of year for women to focus on their own health, especially as schedules slow down for the summer months. Taking a moment to pause and think about ways to improve her overall health is the best way to make certain a woman has the strength and energy to also care for her family, says Kim Raver, mother and actress on FOX’s hit show, “24.” Plus, concentrating on health can help women achieve a beautiful look, looking her best at all times of the year. Raver has the following three tips to help women improve their overall health: 1. Schedule those doctor appointments. During the busy school year, it’s easy to forget about visiting the dermatologist, general practitioner, gynecologist, dentist and eye doctor. Even if you don’t have a medical concern, scheduling a general checkup might discover a health issue that doesn’t have any symptoms. 2. Keep your skin looking healthy with sunscreen. The sun’s rays can cause early signs of aging and even melanoma. Give your skin the protection it needs while still enjoying the outdoors by using a sunscreen with an SPF rating of at least 15. Be sure to apply the sunscreen frequently if you’re planning to be outside for an extended period of time. And if you want to look tanned, consider using a tanning lotion or spray instead. Raver recommends keeping the sunscreen in your makeup bag or drawer as a reminder to apply it every morning before applying makeup. 3. Use products that address health and beauty. Smiling has been found to help lower the heart rate and can reduce the body’s reaction in stressful situations, according to a study conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas. A healthy mouth is an important part of a healthy body. Colgate Total Advanced Whitening toothpaste gives women a whiter and healthier smile. You’ll find yourself smiling often just to show off how beautiful it is, which can also give your health a boost. Showing off your healthy smile with the Colgate Total Advanced Whitening toothpaste may even boost your confidence. Adding these three simple steps to your routine this summer won’t be a big disruption to your already busy mom schedule. Plus, they can help you improve your healthy lifestyle so you can handle the stress and hectic happenings of the upcoming school year with a smile on your face. 18

(BPT) - Everyone has their favorite foods they save for a special treat, or to make an already enjoyable occasion even better. But with a constant flow of information about food and health trends, it’s often difficult to know which are the best choice for you and your family. Is what you’re hearing even true? Myth 1: Microwave popcorn is toxic Reality: Microwave popcorn is safe and contains no added diacetyl or trans fats. Most major microwave popcorn brands removed these ingredients years ago. Dr. Tara Gidus recommends choosing Orville Redenbacher’s and/or Act II brand microwave popcorn, as both have 0 grams of trans fats per serving and do not contain diacetyl. “Also,” notes Dr. Gidus, “These popcorns provide a whole grain, gluten-free snack so you can feel good about snacking away.” Myth 2: Microwaves are harmful and kill nutrients in food Reality: Microwaves are a convenient tool for cooking and heating foods and can even preserve nutrients. In fact, microwaving vegetables can preserve up to 80 percent of their vitamins and nutrients, which is comparable to boiling them. Also, fruits and vegetables are flash frozen at their peak of ripeness, so there is virtually no nutritional difference between fresh and frozen. Additionally, frozen meals are made with fresh ingredients like fruits and vegetables and are a great option to get the recommended amounts of daily nutrients. Myth 3: Food should be eaten raw to get the enzymes you need Reality: Cooked foods can be just as healthy as raw. While the nutrient contents of certain foods, like broccoli, can be affected by exposure to heat, heating can be beneficial for other foods. For example, the antioxidant lycopene in tomatoes can be absorbed by the body much more readily in cooked tomatoes rather than raw tomatoes.

Personalize your health and wellness to help

meet your goals (BPT) - When it comes to heath and wellness, nearly 73 percent of Americans are trying to take better care of their health today than just a few years ago, yet 49 percent find that other things take priority, according to The Futures Company. However, experts say the more you customize your wellness plan for your personal needs and style, the more likely you’ll support your fitness and health goals. Here are some tips for creating a custom plan to get fit and feel fabulous.

Stay hydrated. One of the most important aspects of healthy physical activity is proper hydration. Drinking fluids before, during and after physical activity is vital to provide your body the fluids it needs to perform properly, according to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Instead of bringing money for the soda machine or coffee shop, bring fresh, ice cold water or caffeine-free liquids with you in an insulated, reusable container. Need help tracking your water intake? There are water bottles and apps that can calculate and track your personal hydration needs.

Opt for healthier, whole, portable foods. Do your

body a favor and hit the farmers market or head to your grocer’s produce section to stock up on apples, bananas and berries, as well as veggies like carrots and broccoli to cut up and take with you. When purchasing other snack products, look for foods made with no artificial colors, flavors, colors, sweeteners or GMO-added ingredients, and opt instead for items made with whole grains, fiber and protein.

Get proper sports nutrition. While eating healthfully is key, 90 percent of Americans don’t meet the recommended daily intake for vitamins and minerals from food consumption alone, according to a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, so sports nutrition supplements can help fill the gaps and help your body perform at its best. For example, the whole foodsbased GNC PUREDGE line of products includes a protein formula for muscle health and antioxidant protection; a daily energy formula to invigorate and boost workouts; an amino acid formula to protect and fuel your body from the everyday stressors of an active lifestyle; and even a delicious protein bar for on-the-go needs - all with no artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners and preservatives. Available at GNC stores and gnc.com, several of the products come in powder form that can easily be added to cold water or your favorite beverage to enjoy either daily or pre-workout in a variety of delicious flavors such as chocolate, tropical punch and cherry limeade. 20

Fitness

Personalize your physical fitness. Functional training and small group fitness are on-trend right now. This more personalized style of training helps you customize workouts based on your current level of strength and endurance and help prevent injury versus big group, one-size-fits-all training.

Technology can help. If scheduling fitness into your day sounds impossible, try letting your phone or computer remind you to stretch or get up from your desk. Create a custom playlist to help motivate you and vary your exercises to avoid becoming bored with your workout. Or use wearable fitness technology to track your wellness goals.

Get plenty of sleep. Your body needs sufficient rest to recuperate from your day and refresh its energy for the next. So go ahead and enjoy gazing at the stars - but be sure to get to bed on time, so you’re in tip-top shape for tomorrow.

health myths that might surprise you

(BPT) - Living a healthy life takes some resolve, but success often comes down to knowing what pays the biggest dividends for a given effort. Health coaches are great sources for this insight. They’ve seen it all on the job and learned a lot in their training. To honor Employee Health and Fitness Month in May, health coaches for workplace well-being leader Provant identified seven commonly held health and wellness myths drawn from their research and experience:

1

Myth No. : An aerobic workout boosts your metabolism all day. Wrong, it just burns calories while you’re doing it. Muscle-strengthening exercises, however, will burn calories long after your workout.

4

Myth No. : Frozen fruits and vegetables are less healthy than fresh ones. Actually, they’re both healthy. Frozen fruits and vegetables are generally picked and frozen at nutritional peak. Canned can be a fine choice if you’re watching your budget. Avoid fruits packed in syrup.

7

2

Myth No. : If you don’t break a sweat, it’s not a workout. Wrong, sweat is just the body’s way of cooling itself. A better reflection of effort is the talk test: your workout is moderate if you can talk, but not sing, and vigorous if you need to take a breath every few words.

5

Myth No. : Cigars and chewing tobacco are safe because you don’t inhale. This is another myth. Cigar smokers have higher rates than nonsmokers of death from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and are four to 10 times more likely to die from cancers of the throat, mouth, lips, larynx and esophagus, according to the American Cancer Society. People who chew tobacco are more likely to develop oral cancers that affect the tongue, lips, cheeks and gums.

3

Myth No. : You should stretch before you exercise. Not really, you could hurt yourself. Better to stretch after you’re warmed up with light, smooth movement of gradually increasing intensity.

6

Myth No. : Stress happens. There’s nothing you can do about it. Not true, stress doesn’t have to overwhelm you. There are several approaches to managing it. Set priorities and tackle simple problems first. Then move on to complex difficulties. Practice relaxation exercises. Make yourself more resilient by eating smart, exercising and avoiding tobacco.

Myth No. : Cold turkey is the best way to quit tobacco. Nope. It’s just one of the ways to quit, and the more times you try to quit, the better your chances of succeeding. Research indicates to help improve success rates, you need: the desire and readiness to quit, some form of pharmacotherapy (nicotine replacement therapy or prescription medications) and social support (family, friends, health coach).

Keep this information in mind as you go about improving your health, and most importantly, don’t give up.

Walking: the old way to get fit is new again (BPT) - With so many fitness trends, you might not think of walking as good exercise. If you’re not thrusting a kettlebell over your head, pushing a tractor trailer tire or shaking your hips to a Top 40 dance beat in a scheduled group class, you’re not cutting it, right? Touring Europe? Must-see countries, cities, sights - and sites! (BPT) - Whether you’re a seasoned world traveler or going abroad for the first time, few global destinations deliver the blend of variety and accessibility that Europe does. Visiting Europe - especially on a guided tour - allows first-timers to immerse themselves into inter-cultural experiences and also offers veteran travelers lots of new things to see and do. For many Americans who have European heritage, visiting Europe is an exciting way to reconnect with their cultural history. For others, savoring the region’s diverse food and wine, exploring historic sites and natural wonders, and partaking in each country’s unique personality is a way to embrace another segment of the global community. Regardless of why you’re traveling to Europe, certain countries, cities and destinations are simply not to be missed.

Italy From the shores of the Mediterranean where a feast of seafood goes directly from net to plate, to the amazing architecture and canals of Venice, to the unparalleled cultural and artistic history of Rome and the centuries-old hillside towns of Tuscany, one could travel Italy for a lifetime and still never see it all. Travelers who only have a week or so would do well to book an all-inclusive tour, such as the tours of Italy offered by Tauck. When you travel with an established tour group (Tauck has been in business for 89 years), you can relish an enhanced experience while allowing the experts to do the work of arranging “insider” tours of iconic landmarks, booking hotels, and coordinating on-tour transportation and special entertainment. Tauck offers 19 different tours of Italy, and each one is sure to please with the food, sights and attractions that have long made the country a top travel destination.

France Whether you crave the unparalleled views of Paris from atop the iconic Eiffel Tower, yearn to stroll the cobblestone streets of a quaint French village, or wish to revisit the Normandy beach where an ancestor fought in World War II, France is a must-visit destination for any European adventure. Cruise down the scenic Rhone or Seine rivers, discover the epicurean and viticultural delights of France’s countryside and great cities, or stroll the Champs Elysees and celebrity-watch.

The British Isles Although some may argue that Great Britain, Ireland and Scotland aren’t technically part of continental Europe, why quibble? Pass up the British Isles and you’ll miss out on some of the region’s most breathtaking scenery, vibrant cities and rich history. Few cities have impacted the world stage as profoundly as London. From the legendary Tower of London where criminals and royalty were imprisoned throughout history, to the stately beauty of Buckingham Palace and the bustle of Piccadilly, London has something for everyone. The perfect foil for the urban lifestyle of London, the Irish countryside offers up numerous quaint villages, verdant pastures and hills seemingly greener than any others in the world. And while you may not catch a glimpse of Loch Ness’ famed, fabled inhabitant, you’ll surely enjoy Scotland’s surrounding scenery and culture while trying.

Europe is always a hot summer vacation destination, and there is still time to book a 2014 guided tour with Tauck. Visit www.tauck.com for full itineraries and booking details.

A lovely Stew

by Shweta Menon and Sunnaeya Kapur

Shweta and Sunnaeya are at it once again. Chitter-chatter. ha! No seriously. They chat a lot but what always comes out of it is the most enticing recipes one would want to get their hands on. So we don’t want to complain about their little chitter-chatter ‘cause it all makes sense to the hopeful pallette. This time around they seem to have gone down a little back in time and picked up somwrhing that just brings that extra flavor in the dishes. Let’s check out what they got this time. “Wow...gorgeous...I smell wet mud...lets get our hands dirty” Sun - (abruptly stops in the middle of the road) “Shwetsieeee are you ok??...We are past that age” Shwetsie - (ignoring Sun) “Look you idiot, tajine pots, lets go in” Sun - “Ohhh you are talking about Mitty at Seven Bungalows!!! Lets go...Hey why don’t we do a lebanese pilaf with a nice tajine for the party next week???” Shwetsie - “Duhhhhhh, thats why I said lets get our hands dirty ...cooking!!!” Sun - (rolling her eyes) “What is a tajine pot by the way” Shwetsie - (putting on a worldly wise smile) “Tajine pots are earthen pots in which different kinds of stews are cooked. It can be traced back historically to North Africa. The Tajine pot consists of two parts: a base that is flat and circular and a large conical dome-shaped cover that sits on the base during cooking. The cover is designed to promote the return of all condensation to the bottom thus retaining all flavours” Sun - “yeah yeah professor...so basically I can pile up veggies like potato, aubergine , some meats, onion and tomato and voila! I have a lovely stew” Shwetsie - “yes maverick but please do season it with some spices and condiments like olives, preserved lemon, a good vegetable or meat stock, Mediterranean spices and you have an excellent tajine” Sun - “This will be a nice fancy dinner to cook for a date, its easy and looks WOW...but what kind of spices do you suggest??”

TAJINE POTS are earthen pots in which different kinds of stews are cooked.

add some tomato paste or harissa and maybe some dry fruits like almonds or pine nuts ...play around with it” Sun - “ And one can pair it up maybe with a good red wine like a Pinot Noir, some candles and you are good to go...” Shwetsie - (coughing slightly) “not exactly Sun..All that plus a nice man!!!”

Sun - (winking) “Well do we have a recipe for that Shwetsie - “Cumin powder, Coriander powder, too....” zatar, or even some basic arabic mix masalas you get in the market. To make the stew richer .....and the drama continues 31

Turn over a new leaf with your diet this fall to achieve

HEALTHY, GLOWING SKIN (BPT) - As schedules pick up and temperatures drop, fall is a natural time for women to rethink their skincare routine. Yet the right products are just one piece of the puzzle in being kind to skin. A healthy diet, rich in leafy greens, and a holistic approach to skincare can also have complexion-beautifying benefits. You can turn over a new leaf this fall by incorporating more skin-loving “power greens” (full of vitamins and minerals) like kale, spinach and bok choy into meal time. Registered dietician nutritionist Ellie Krieger, a New York Times bestselling author and host of the Food Network and Cooking Channel’s hit show, “Healthy Appetite,” is a member of the Simple Advisory Board - a panel of lifestyle experts that educate others on the benefits of adopting a holistic approach to skincare. As kitchens across the country prepare for a healthy reset to mark the start of fall, Krieger offers these easy ways to sneak more leafy greens into your daily dishes.

Start the day with a smoothie

Elevate the lunch salad

Breakfast smoothies and pressed juices are an increasingly popular choice for on-the-go types. These liquid meals deliver an assortment of health benefits since they’re chock-full of fruits and vegetables. Add kale to a breakfast smoothie or juice (without even knowing it’s there) to experience the superfood’s nutrients - such as antioxidants, calcium and potassium - and beauty benefits like healthy skin and hair. “If you’re looking for an energizing way to start the day, try my superfood smoothie recipe,” says Krieger. “Blend 1/2 frozen ripe banana, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, 1/3 cup chopped fresh kale leaves, 1/4 cup sliced almonds , 1 cup nonfat milk, 1 teaspoon honey and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.”

The lunch hour offers a great opportunity to pack a meal that includes several distinct leafy greens - iceberg, be gone. Arugula, which belongs to the mustard family of plants, is a salad staple that adds a lovely peppery flavor and plenty of vitamin C. Up the ante with nutrient-dense spinach, which contains lots of beta carotene shown to promote healthy, glowing skin. Top off the health benefits with radicchio which is rich in lutein and antioxidants known to help preserve vision and protect skin from sun damage. Make a savvy salad by combining these three leaves (arugula, spinach and radicchio) and tossing with a can of light tuna in olive oil (drizzling in some oil from the can). Add the juice from half a lemon and some salt and pepper for flavor.

End the day with a skin-benefitting routine A healthy spinach dinner dish doesn’t need to take a million years to prep. Buy prewashed baby spinach, toss into store-bought pasta sauce after it’s heated and serve over whole grain pasta for a dish that’s quick, delicious and good-for-skin. Spinach contains vitamin C, which is important for collagen production. The result is skin that’s smooth, supple and elastic. Post-dinner, it can be tempting to hit the sheets immediately, but supplement the overnight benefits of a healthy diet by taking a moment to remove makeup with kindto-skin cleansers and facial wipes from Simple Skincare before heading to bed (so skin starts with a glowing base in the morning). Try Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash - it contains vitamins B and E (the same skin-loving ingredients found in leafy greens). It cleanses gently, removing dirt and oil without drying skin and contains no dyes, artificial perfumes or harsh chemicals that can upset skin.

Divya Dutta who firmly believes

An interview with the very versatile and vivacious in making the best of each moment and living for today.

by Asheesh Kapur

On Life : It is a beautiful journey full of surprises. When you dream, things do come true and if you are truly passionate, you are led to where you need to be. The process can sometimes be slow, which has been in my case. After over sixty films, my career best has come now. I have found a good balance between parallel cinema and mainstream work and i am happy about this.

On Taking The Plunge : Stardust had a talent hunt, i filled the form, my brother clicked some silly pictures of me in which i posed as a heroin and i got selected. Little did i realize that it is going to be a tough journey. It is not like there are plenty of opportunities waiting for you. Quickly it hit me that no body says no to you in this industry. I thought that i was the busiest actress with over twenty films signed up, only to learn that i had nothing in my kitty. One day i packed my bags and had a huge one on one with God. I said to Sai Baba, “listen , if You want me to stay, send me a sign because i am fed up and i am leaving”. That same night i got a call from the makers of ‘Train To Pakistan’ , and that is how my journey began. I worked very hard.

On Writing : Acting and writing both go hand in hand. There is nothing better than getting a chance to express oneself via both these mediums. I was once touring with a play in Patiala. After the show, an elderly woman from the audience came up to me and gave me an affectionate hug. She had tears in her eyes. I assumed that she may have been moved by our performance until she said, “Beta i read your write up where you had mentioned to go make best friends with yourself and not to wait for anyone to make you enjoy life”. The thought in my writing had impacted her positively. I was moved.

38

On Family : We are a very close knit family. My mother Nalini and brother Raahul are both doctors. When i was eight years old i lost my father. My mother has been my strongest supporter. She has always given me a chance to pursue my dreams. She always told me that it is very rare that people earn from what they love doing and has encouraged me at every step. My brother is a subtle reassuring presence in my life. I am thankful to them for loving me unconditionally.

On Being Grounded : I love my profession and yet i have a life, they are separate. I avoid facades and love being around those i love and can trust. There are two kinds of actors, those who earn craze and those who earn admiration. I have earned my share of admiration and i admit that this lasts longer.

Entertainment

On Fitness : Being a hard core Punjabi i love eating. Balance is key. When a role requires me to be fit, i cycle, swim, do the zumba and watch what i eat. Yet i feel it is important to let yourself go every now and then with a good treat.

On Ganpati Bappa : We at home call him Gannu Baba lovingly. From the first time He stepped into our house, our family increased in love and abundance. Oddly, people whom i don’t meet for the entire year land up at my door steps during Ganesh Chathurthi to seek Bappa’s Blessings. We celebrate and yet i feel genuinely sad when He leaves.

On Clumsiness : I am supremely talented at tripping over things. You can take me on a hard core trek and i will be the most sure footed, you ask me to walk on a side walk and be sure i will trip. I have accepted this clumsy side of me, it makes me, me …

Advice To Aspiring Actors : You need to love something to be part of it. I don’t like the word acting. Our profession is actually all about feeling. What you feel is what you express. Never give yourself a time frame, be very strong willed and know that you are talented and that you belong no where else but here, only then it works. Divya Dutta has been acting professionally since the past 17 years and has been a recipient of over 25 reputed awards related to film and television.

Pierce Brosnan returns to the spy genre

The November Man

This spy thriller film based on the novel ‘There Are No Spies’ by Bill Granger. The movie starring former James Bond Pierce Brosnan, Australian actor Luke Bracey and Olga Kurylenko hits the theaters in India on 29th August, 2014. The November Man is a spy thriller film based on the novel There Are No Spies by Bill Granger, which is canonically the seventh installment in The November Man series of books, published in 1987. The film is directed by Roger Donaldson, known for his most notable works Species, The Recruit and The Bank Job. With a screenplay by Michael Finch & Karl Gajdusek based on Bill Granger’s novel There Are No Spies from the bestselling November Man book series, The November Man is the ultimate cat and mouse game set in the world of international espionage. Directed by Roger Donaldson (The Bank Job, No Way Out, Thirteen Days), the film is produced by Beau St. Clair of Irish Dream Time and Sriram Das of Das Films. The November Man is a spy thriller, a dark, gritty and realistic story with its roots in spy films of the past. Pierce Brosnan plays Peter Devereaux, a man now living a peaceful life who is reluctantly lured back into his old CIA role for one final mission. Brosnan, who is internationally known for his portrayal of James Bond in the 1990’s, has had plenty of experience in the espionage world. “There’s nothing black or white about Devereaux, he’s pretty lethal,” says Brosnan. About Devereaux, Director Roger Donaldson says, “he such a tough, ruthless, bleak character that he’s been nicknamed ‘The November Man’. The idea is that it’s like the onset of winter when everything dies… and Pierce I think really rose to the challenge and does a great job with this character.” Aussie actor Luke Bracey plays the role of David Mason. For the young actor, it was not only a privilege to get the chance to work on a high-octane spy thriller, but Luke also got the opportunity to play against one of the greatest spies of all time - James Bond himself. When asked about acting against Pierce in the film, Luke said, “It was an absolute thrill. I couldn’t believe it at the start when I first got the job but it was great and I felt very fortunate.” Caught in the middle is Alice, a social worker played by Olga Kurylenko. Alice is a brave, beautiful, compassionate and insightful woman caught in the middle of other people’s crossfire and forced to trust a complete stranger in Devereaux to protect her. With growing suspicions of a mole in the agency, there is no one Devereaux can trust, no rules and no holds barred. Marco Bettrarni has composed a soundtrack title Ready or not. So get ready for this action packed film hitting the theatres in India on 29th August 2014. 40

COMMUNITY SUCCESS STORY I was at a family funeral ceremony in the Four Bungalows gurudwara where I remember seeing a towering personality humbly seated along with the others. Being an Andheri resident I knew who he was. Baldev Khosa. The name sounds very much straight out of a movie and so did his personality. I got introduced to him through someone and there was a sense of pleasant warm feeling in the handshake of a man who is a little younger than my own father. I had heard the name Baldev Khosa as a local MLA with titles of Mr. Clean and Mr. Honest. But as always I got keen to know a little more of the person behind all the titles… what makes the person who he really is on the inside.

BALDEV KHOSA A simple man whose strength is his family. He always gave importance to education and today he is a proud father where all his three sons are doctors. Whenever he gets time off from his busy schedule he likes to unwind with his grandchildren. Being a resident of Andheri west since 1985, his contributions to the community are innumerable. He was the one responsible for building joggers tracks and senior citizens parks in the neighbor hood. At one point Baldev ji was even called the ‘Garden MLA’. His strength lies in his access to the common man for their day-to-day worries. He considers himself fortunate to be able to serve the poor and needy. He rightly says ‘God chose me to serve the people of this nation, how can I default him’.

42

Baldev Khosa was a leading man in few Bollywood films in the early 70s and a superstar in the Punjabi film industry. A small town upbringing, his roots were pretty strong and inspite of being in the film industry he still remained grounded. Diaper disasters to ketchup squirts: How to laugh through life’s messiest moments (BPT) - Diaper changing disasters, milk and cereal splattered across the kitchen floor, ketchup landing right on your white shirt ... mess and ick are an inevitable part of everyday life, especially if you are a parent, but they are also part of what makes life interesting and humorous. Whether commiserating, venting or simply laughing it off, these are the stories you can’t wait to share with friends and family, especially over social media nowadays. Sometimes it’s best to just laugh through the mess, knowing it can all be cleaned up later. “As a mom I am very familiar with icky situations, and as a comedienne I am a firm believer that the best way to get through them is with laughter,” says former Saturday Night Live star, Rachel Dratch. “To celebrate some of the humor in life’s messiest moments, I recently teamed up with my old friends at The Second City to host the first ever Clorox Ick Awards. Parents tweeted the messiest moments they’ve encountered, which we used to inspire funny improv sketches shared in real-time. The best comedy comes from real-life experiences, and luckily we had some great, and gross, inspiration!” Here are some helpful tips to help you tackle the six types of messes you are most likely to encounter so you can spend less time cleaning and more time living (and laughing). General messes: A volcano science project gone bad, muddy dog running through the house. These messes can happen in any room in the house. If Fido or your little scientist leaves your floors in need of a deep cleaning, vacuum or sweep to remove the excess dirt, then start mopping at the farthest corner and work backward toward the door. Laundry stains: Red wine on your white shirt, grassstained baseball shorts. Some stains are seemingly impossible to remove. But before you toss your white garment, pretreat the stain with a bleach gel pen, then launder as usual with detergent and bleach on the hottest recommended water setting. Repeat as necessary until the stain is removed before machine drying.

with a clean disposable paper towel. And for the soap scum, spray the surface with a disinfectant bathroom cleaner until completely wet. Wait for 10 minutes, then rinse; no scrubbing involved. Extreme messes and stains: The three P’s - poop pee and puke. From diaper blowouts to being vomited on, these are the grossest, yet make for the best stories. To clean and disinfect bathroom floors and walls, mix 1/2 cup of bleach per gallon of water and wipe the affected area with the solution, letting it stand for five minutes. Rinse and let it air dry. And for those unpleasant stains, thoroughly rinse the affected area with cold water then wash immediately in the warmest water recommended using detergent and stain fighter. If the stain remains, repeat. Germy messes: Germ-infested hot spots around the house, mold growing in places it shouldn’t. Some of the germiest places in the house are ones you touch every single day - doorknobs, light switches, TV remotes, soap dispensers. The key is to make sure you disinfect all of these hotspots every day for a happy, healthy home. So the next time you’re faced with a mess, Clorox has your back with a number of products to help you take them on in every room of the house. For more cleaning and laundry tips and content to keep you laughing through the mess, visit www.clorox.com/laugh/ick-awards.

In the kitchen: Mac ‘n cheese explosion in the microwave, crusted red spaghetti sauce on the stovetop. Your kitchen spaces should not only be cleaned, but sanitized every day, and don’t forget about those appliances. Lemons, ever useful, can help to clean your microwave! Nuke a microwave-safe container with one cup of water and a few lemon wedges for three minutes, remove, then wipe away loosened food particles. In the bathroom: Potty training mishaps, soap scum in every crevice of the shower. If your toddler misses the mark, wipe the covered surfaces with disinfecting wipes and leave wet for four minutes. Let it air dry, then wipe 45

Are you ready to start training your dog?

by Pooja Advani, Founder and Owner, It’s a Doggiie Dog World

Having a puppy or a dog in your house is beautiful and he or she will always be a wonderful companion to you! However, it is equally essential to train your dog well and just in time. Life with a well-behaved dog has its rewards. You can trust him to respond reliably and quickly, plus you’ll have a dog that’s a joy to live with. Proper training and socialization are some of your dog’s most basic needs. At first, dog training can seem pretty overwhelming, especially if this is your first dog. Truth be told, training your dog is a very big project. Training enhances the relationship that you share with your pet, as during the process, you’ll learn to understand what he/she is saying to you and vice versa. Training takes practice, but it’s not about the time that you put into it, rather it’s the quality.

Teaching your dog how to behave involves more than saying his name followed by giving him a command, followed by a little piece of food. That is stuff you read in psychology books and it isn’t completely effective. We at It’s a Doggiie Dog World are here, to give you a step by step guide, which will help you find the task of training your dog less daunting: 1. The Power of Positive Reinforcement: There are many different ways to train a dog, but most dog professionals agree that the positive way is the best for both the dog and trainer. Positive training ensures that your dog knows that you’re pleased with him. Rewards can consist of petting, dog treats or even toys! 2. Keep the Communication Simple, Clear and Crisp: Use cue words like sit,

stop, etc only once. He/she will tune out if you use the word too many times. They’re smart enough to understand what you’re saying once! Apply the same rules and the same words all the time. 3. Be Strategic: Schedule training sessions before meal times so that he is looking forward to the treat by default and will therefore be more responsive and interested in the session. Don’t train your puppy when he/she is tired or hot. You definitely want him/her to be energetic and in the mood. 4. Patience is a Must: If your puppy or dog isn’t listening to you, don’t get visibly angry or frustrated. End the session, pat them on the head and try again later. Some pets have softer temperaments and tend to get nervous when yelled at. Stay calm and relaxed so that your pet does too.

5. Show Appreciation: Keep your voice up beat and smile! Most people don’t have a problem being very clear about when they are unhappy with their dogs, but they often ignore the good stuff. Don’t do that. Big mistake! Be very generous with your affection, be over the top but make sure your little guy knows he’s loved. 6. Say No! There’s nothing wrong with telling your pet no. The confusion arises when you don’t explain what exactly you want him to do. For instance, if he’s jumping on people to say hello, instead of telling him no, (which he might take as a sign to jump higher or on another body part), ask him to sit instead! 7. Daily Practice: Once a new behaviour has been learned incorporate it into their daily routine. Use it everyday so that it becomes a habit! 8. Ongoing Recognition: Be sure to reward your dog during periods when he is not performing any unacceptable behaviors. For example, if he’s sitting quietly, this is a perfect opportunity to reward him with his favorite treat or a belly rub. Trying to control a pet that hasn’t gone through obedience training is not only tough but also exhausting so don’t let that slack. Make sure that you, the owner, get trained too before training your dog that is equally essential! The relationship between a pet and an owner is a joyous one and training your pet only enhances that wondrous experience!

In this age of designer gurus, a ‘spiritual master’ is a must have accomplice. Often we see people following a ‘guru’ due to various reasons. Social trends, personal problems which, as promised by the guru, can be solved by him, or family norms are reasons why one may begin following a particular sect. Soon we see that the ‘follower’ looses his uniqueness and begins following the herd. There is similar jargon, addressing terms, dressing style, food patterns and the like which start binding the ‘followers’. The disciple now, instead of being developed as a leader himself by imbibing knowledge from his guru, starts clinging on to the human for everything and stays put retarding his evolution. The compartmentalization is severe enough to stop any kind of freedom of thought. You stop becoming open to further beliefs and lose compassion for others. You are a ‘thought and spokesperson’ of the other man and your personality is adequate only for his sect.

in any circumstance should be the guru’s priority. Beware of anyone that makes you depend on him for happiness and thinking and yet acknowledge himself as your ‘guru’. But then how do we find the guru? And who is the correct guru? They say when the disciple is ready the master appears. Shrugging off your ego and the ‘I know it all’ attitude and being open and permeable to all situations and changes brings the real guru to you in different ways. Your teacher may vary from time to time according to your need but what will remain constant is that he shall contribute to your learning process and show you signs that further help your elevation. Anybody that teaches you something new or reminds you of the truth is your teacher. He may appear in any form, does not have to be on a podium with mike or in sermons from audio tapes; it could just be your next door neighbor. If you are open to learning you will never fall short of gurus, look around there will be someone around even now.

Karan Puri (21) feels that “somebody whom you respect and who teaches you anything good in life is a guru”. And he depends on them on several occasions. Monica Narula (30) says “someone you can trust with eyes closed is a guru. One should not doubt where he leads and he should offer complete dependence on himself. For Karan choudhry (20) “one who moves your life and inspires you is surely a guru”. He cannot say much since he does not have a guru! Dr.Annu Lathar (27) says “anybody who guides your mind and correct you can be your guru”. She adds that often there are deviations in your path, a guru relieves your stress, relaxes you and gets you to the right track; you can rely on him in times of trauma for comfort.

We are nothing but a bundle of contributions; each person who crosses us contributes to our personality and becomes our guru, thereby making your list of gurus endless. He may teach you what to become or may be what not to be. He does not give you a picture of his to be idolized but the real guru takes you closer to God and soon makes a God out of you.

It is essential to determine the truth of the real master. Khalil Gibran said “guru is one who brings you to the threshold of your thinking”. He is one who gives the tendril (you) support for growth but makes sure that the you are capable of independent existence. The tendril must have its own roots and should flower independently, though the support is always there. The real guru teaches independence, reasoning and encourages logic. His knowledge should make you free flowing like a river not inert by his theoretical coercion. Inculcation of your real character so that you may shine

FINDING A GURU

The root of all Sorrows by Divya Pandey

Do you have any idea that why do we get hurt all the time? Why are we not contented with the things that we are having. Why our heart and mind wants more and more? Why we get worried when someone is not reciprocating the same way as we are? Why do people cry? Why do we get angry? Why do we get so upset when we do not achieve anything in spite of doing all the hard work? Why employees are not after giving their days and nights to their organization? Why a student is still not happy after scoring 95% marks? Why we are not happy today? Ask yourself are you contented with what you are having right now? Are you really happy with the way you are life is moving on? The answer is NO. We are not happy and contented. The reason is “Expectations”. Human beings are filled with emotions. We get so stirred if something does not go as we wanted it because we “Expected” it. We read a lot of quotes which says “Never expect and you will be Happy”. But is this really possible? There are few rules for living a happy life and amongst them is Expect Less. In our day to day routine there are moments when we have expected things from our friends, our family, lovers and not to forget our bosses. To live happy life we should give more and more without expecting anything in return and how do we do that? Make it a habit or a rule that when you do something for people you would not expect the same thing from them. When you start expecting the things and are disappointed then think of the Almighty. How he helps us every single second and how he does not expect anything in return from us. He has given you so many things but has he ever asks us to pay for them? Never… The problem of our life is that we have made it so complex. Life is really simple if you do things simply. Change your belief from within and your life will be changed forever. Give everything but expect nothing, it’s difficult but possible. Think of the “Almighty” how he has embraced you with this beautiful life that you are living, not everyone gets the opportunity to be a human being. Embrace it…love it…live it…and please give it a try. It will be worth living for… 51

HOROSCOPE (SEPTEMBER) Virgo (August 23rd-September 22nd): Happy birthday! You are going to have a year rather fantastic by your own terms. You are likely to see the germination of all the seeds you have sown in your own garden, and especially the ones you tend. Which does mean, stay alert to weeds, to changes of season, to over-complacency, and to impatience. Less chance of the last alert, though… so you should be putting up an awesome show! Congratulations! (Please note: The guide uses Zodiac Signs according to date of birth, and not according to your Sun Sign, Moon Sign or Ascendant. There is no cusp.) ARIES(March 21st-April 20th): First off, you might carry over August energies into September, and that would be a very bad idea. So, be forewarned. This month has challenges that are not exactly your cup of tea. However, you will have plenty of help to handle everything, or not. Even if things seem too grasping and convoluted for you, do not worry. Just keep surging ahead, and by the end of the month, you will feel much relieved. In fact, a small event will provide an interesting turn, and may cast a long ripple into the future. Take care of your health; do not allow energies to congest in your body. TAURUS (April 21st-May 20th): If you make up your mind to jump in the fray, you are going to have a very cordial time. You can get all the opposition cowering, all your friends cheering and you, in a rare show of dramatics. However, September is not August, so don’t pitch for battles that should have been over last month, but are not. Let them go. Watch the new thriller. It will be an interesting challenge to keep your health good, but you will manage. GEMINI (May 21st-June 20th): Whatever else you do or do not, make sure you do the one Oh, you are going to love this month! Lots of challenging situations to wrap your curiosity around…! And enough quick changes to keep you on your toes! Never a dull moment will you have! However, it will be easy to side-track you, and you may be pounding off on the wrong gravel. So, stay alert as well as engaged. Indeed, be as active as is demanded of you, but do keep a tab on how all of this expending of energy is helping your goal. Beware of flash fevers or over-excitement. CANCER (June 21st-July 21st): The month can be very good for you; basically, it is up to you. While the days may prod out those parts of your nature that make you uncomfortable, if you believe you are well-guided by destiny, then you will be able to circumvent the discomfort and focus on productive effort. By the time the month ends, you may feel it is better past, but there could be a surprise in store for you. Make it good. LEO (July 22nd-August 22nd): Some of you innately know the value of planning, hard work There will be enough drama in the ensuing weeks to keep you occupied and engaged. However, this month will not be as productive for you as it would appear. This situation is actually a precursor to a more dramatic turn of events later on. So now, you can ready yourself for some life-changing moments at the end of the month. Your health should be fairly well. VIRGO (August 23rd-September 22nd): August is your month. Everything will pan out just the way you Yes, we are in your phase of solar return, and yes, you have an awesome year ahead of you. What you need to do is to stay focussed on the job at hand, and mould the path of everything according to it. The energy of this month is supportive of your basic nature, even if the way it plays out seems all over the place. You might have to deal with choices later on, but you have the opportunity to prepare yourself well, and then it is easy. Do keep a close watch on your health and do not get argumentative, even when provoked.

LIBRA (September 23rd-October 22nd): Through all the struggle everyday, and yes, there will be struggle, you will have it good. The outcome will be completely worth all of it. Don’t feel intimidated by anything. If something has shown up in your horizon, you will be able to deal with it, and this month, you will also have loads of support. Keep calm, keep breathing and remember that overwhelm will cause ill-health. Just ask for help the moment you feel you need it. SCORPIO (October 23rd-November 22nd): Honestly, you may not like the feeling of things being slightly out of your grasp right now. Try to understand that each application brings through various streams of knowledge. Each day of yours requires you to be everything, everyday. So face up each day, and observe your own brilliance at play, instead of worrying. Watch your health, though, and don’t indulge in wars of rationalising. SAGITTARIUS (November 23rd-December 21st): Be sure to keep that in focus even around the big, skidding bends. All the twists and turns are just to make you a better driver. Right now is the short-term, not the long-term. So you are being prepared. If you stay alert, towards the end of the month you may even get glimmerings of the future, and the part you are meant to play to build it. Watch your exasperation. CAPRICORN (December 22nd–January 19th): For all you keen sense of responsibility and your formidable abilities, you have absolutely no control over the outcome of things right now. So stay calm and keep observing what is happening. Doing things your right way is still very much within your grasp. You may even get on top of things towards the end of the month. Be watchful and patient. AQUARIUS (January 20th–February 18th): Though you may not be able to reason why things are the way they are, you have it very good. You will be doing the right things and reaching the correct conclusions. You may learn more along the way, and perhaps even figure out other things. Be thankful for those folks who support you. Feeling clued out as you are, you might not have been as supportive, if the tables were turned. PISCES (February 19th-March 20th): You must diligently keep your focus on the central idea, whatever it is for you, though it will be difficult. Think of it this way; the ship is meant to carry you to the port, and nothing can change that purpose. So hang on to your rudder. You might need to use your rational mind a tad more than usual. You may also find a way to improve your sense of well-being.

Have an awesome August! - Mohini (MOHINI is a professional Tarot Card reader. She can be reached by e-mail at mohini.tarot@yahoo.com) 53
