Nike was founded in 1964 by Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight, initially named Blue Ribbon Sports, in Washington D.C. The brand was orginally created purely for sports shoes, and has now become a multinational cooperation who are represented in all areads of the fashion world. Its expansion begun in the 80s, from which they created a variety of sub products, such as Nike Air Max, Nike Pro, Nike Golf etc.

They quote ‘Our Vision is to help Nike. inc, and our customers thrive in a sustainable economy where people, profit and the planet are in balance.

SWOT ANALYSIS

S

- Largely reknown & credible brand - Partnerships with other strong brands - Concerns about the enviroment, creating an ecologi ogical product

W

- impersonal company atmosphere - Portrays itself as a technology company when its not - it depends on outside manufacters so doesnt have control over its own product.

O

- expand their market further to countrties such as China & India - Continue to diversify their products from just trainers.

T

- as theyre not in control of all aspects, this could disrupt the global supply - they have the negative image of expolitation in its overseads markets

My perception In my opinion, the brand itself is well built, having affordable prices, compared to other big brands, as well as a good name which is respected throughout the industry, and is a key part in street style in particular. It offers a wide variety of products, so can be looked to for any occasion. I believe that Nike is sucesfully reaching its mission and vision.

Nike campaigns & My interpretation

In general, Nike Marketing campaigns tend to be based around a large group, in an impersonal fashion, with an iconic or inspirational message. In my images below, ive tried to create a more personal style, in a recognisable setting. I further attempted to play with the idea of youth culture in the UK, for example, taking the images whilst out, or in estates, as I feel that this provides more of a story.
