Autumn/Winter Art Events 2015

Tuesday 1st September to Saturday 24th October 2015 an exhibition by three local artists

Come and see this fantastic exhibition showcasing some of our local talent! Julie Hyde has a unique style, perhaps in part due to her restricted eyesight, and recently won the People’s Choice award in our Open Exhibition. John Keyworth is a prolific local artist, who started painting when he retired. He uses oils, acrylics and watercolour, and believes each and every painting suits its own medium. Bessie Potts prefers to work in acrylics, and watercolour. She likes painting scenes and flowers. All proceeds from Julie’s pictures will go to Brain Tumour Research

Haughton Green Artists Tuesday 26th October to Saturday 12th December 2015 back by popular demand for a second year! Thackeray’s are delighted to announce the return of the Haughton Green Artists for a second year following the success of the 2014 exhibition. Come and see what wonders they have on offer this time! Private view Monday 25th October 6-7.30pm Come and join us for a preview of the work, a glass of wine and enter the raffle to win one of the original art works!

Rod Willocks & Andrew Joynes Tuesday 15th December 2015 to Saturday 23rd January 2016 Rod & Andrew both sold works in our Open Summer Exhibition Thackeray’s are honoured to announce a joint exhibition featuring the winner of our recent Open Exhibition, Rod Willocks, and the much admired artist Andrew Joynes who also sold his work in the Open Exhibition this year. Art Workshops

Life Drawing, Tuesdays 7-9pm

Orchid Study Painted On Glaze (Ceramic) Workshop

with Liz Stirk From September 22nd, Sessions £10

Try your hand at life drawing. Beginners welcome. Short and medium poses in a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. All materials are provided, although feel free to bring your own as well. The sessions are untutored, with informal tutoring available on request. Drinks and cake provided.

Create a painted ceramic tile with Elizabeth Crabtree Saturday October 31st 11.30am-2pm

Elizabeth Crabtree simply enjoys the process of painting and makes work through exploration of a variety of media via varied subject matter. One such media and one subject matter come together in an individual approach to painting natural forms on glazed, ceramic surfaces. Paints and lustres employed in the age-old tradition of onglaze art receive a fresh, exploratory, approach. All equipment provided. Session £25, includes buffet lunch.

Drawing Classes, Saturdays 9.30-11am with Liz Stirk From September 19th, Sessions £10

For beginners and improvers. Learn all the drawing fundamentals including form, tone, shading, mark-making, perspective, composition, sketching, figure drawing, animal drawing and much more! Please book as places are limited. Equipment available as well as a great selection of art equipment available to purchase. Tea/coffee provided.

Our Tutors... Liz Stirk is a freelance illustrator and artist who specialises in wildlife art. Liz studied at Manchester Art School and has concentrated on the use of graphite to represent the animal kingdom,. She has exhibited at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, with the Association of Animal Artists as well as winning through to the finals of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year. Gill Fox was born in the North East and moved to Norfolk in her teens. Now based in the studio/ gallery Art & Soul in Padiham, Lancashire, Gill started painting animal commissions in acrylic in 2010. Within a year she had found the freedom of painting in watercolour and now paints in various media for galleries, exhibitions and commissions. Elizabeth Crabtree was born in India, moved to the UK and took early retirement from law to pursue her love of art. She has worked with the Valley Artists Studio, enjoys social media and exhibits with the Association of Animal Artists and Haworth Artists network amongst others.

Watercolour Flowers & Fruit Workshop with Gill Fox Saturday November 7th, 11.30am-2pm

Gill will guide you through the use of watercolours. We shall be using watercolour in a vibrant and colourful way to paint flowers and fruit from life. If you would prefer you can also bring along photographs to work from. All equipment is provided. Just bring yourself and your imagination! Session £25, includes buffet lunch.

Beginning Brusho Workshop

with Gill Fox Saturday November 21st, 10am-12.30pm Gill will guide you through the use of Brusho. Brusho allows you to create expressive artwork with the minimum of fuss. It’s fun to work with and beginner-friendly. We will use flowers and photographs as inspiration. All equipment is provided. Just bring yourself and your imagination! Session £25, includes buffet lunch.
