Animal Magic

Tuesday 9th June to Saturday 1st August 2015 an exhibition of artwork by Gill Fox

Come and join us for this fabulous exhibition of Gill Fox’s beautiful artwork depicting some of the world’s most wonderful wildlife. Gill will be running watercolour and pastel workshops here at Thackeray’s, see inside for details of how to book your place. “I believe that if we open our eyes and look, we can all see beauty everywhere around us. Thackeray’s are delighted to annouce their first Open Exhibition! Open to all artists we will be accepting entries on Saturday 1st August. Prizes of upto £75 in art materials will be annouced on the opening night. To enter pick up a form in our shop or request by email. Private view Monday 3rd August 6-7.30pm. Art Workshops

Life Drawing, Tuesdays 7-9pm

Watercolour Animal Workshop

with Liz Stirk From May 5th (no class June 2nd), Sessions £10 Try your hand at life drawing. Beginners welcome. Short and medium poses in a welcoming relaxed atmosphere. All materials are provided, although feel free to bring your own as well. The sessions are untutored, with informal tutoring available on request. Refreshments provided. Please book as places are limited.

Drawing Classes, Wednesdays 10.30am-12noon with Liz Stirk From June 17th, Sessions £10 or 10 week course £95

For beginners and improvers. Learn all the drawing fundamentals including form, tone, shading, mark-making, perspective, composition, sketching, figure drawing, animal drawing and much more! Please book as places are limited. Drawing equipment packs for this course can be pre-ordered.

About Liz Stirk “Drawing is a highly rewarding skill that can be taught and built upon. It forms the foundation for many other areas of art and without these fundamentals it is difficult to progress and yet drawing skills are very rarely formally taught. Come along and try your hand at developing your skills.“ Liz Stirk is a freelance illustrator and artist who specialises in wildlife art. Liz studied at Manchester Art School and has concentrated on the use of graphite to represent the animal kingdom, often spending in excess of 40 hours on each drawing. She has exhibited over numerous years at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art, with the Association of Animal Artists as well as winning through to the finals of the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year.

Try your hand at creating a superb watercolour cockerel working along with Gill as she guides you through the steps she takes to create her wonderfully bright and energetic watercolours. All equipment is provided. Just bring yourself and your imagination! Session £25, includes buffet lunch.

Pastel Animal Workshop

with Gill Fox Saturday July 18th, 10am-12.30pm Gill will guide you through the use of pastels to create a wonderfully colourful tiger! Gain experience in depicting these wonderful creatures in this expressive and beautiful medium. All equipment is provided. Just bring yourself and your imagination! Session £25, includes buffet lunch.

About Gill Fox “I believe that if we open our eyes and look, we can all see beauty everywhere around us. I live and breathe art and my aim is to open others’ eyes and hearts to it as well. “ Gill was born in the North East and moved to Norfolk in her teens. Now based in the studio/ gallery Art & Soul in Padiham, Lancashire, Gill started painting animal commissions in acrylic in 2010. Within a year she had found the freedom of painting in watercolour and now paints in various media for galleries, exhibitions and commissions. Gill is continually expanding her portfolio as an artist. One of her watercolours “As kingfishers catch fire…” was both used to advertise a local Art venue and a finalist for The Artist and Illustrator Magazine Artist of the Year 2012 as well as BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2013.
