EXTENDED PRACTICE STATEMENT OF INTENT Name: Elizabeth Tyrer Blog Address: Home: www.e-tyrer1114.blogspot.co.uk OUGD601: www.e-tyrer1114-ougd601.blogspot.co.uk OUGD602: www.e-tyrer1114-ougd602.blogspot.co.uk OUGD603: www.e-tyrer1114-ougd603.blogspot.co.uk Statement of intent: I am a designer concerned with print based solutions in the fields of branding and publishing design created primarily for the fashion and culture sectors, using a mix of both type and image. I also have a strong interest in copywriting and the importance of communicating successfully through both language and design. Subjects / Themes The briefs I have set for myself explore a number of different themes within design, and these include fashion, music and film, publishing and language. Design Disciplines / Creative Development I will be developing my creative skills within publishing design, including cover design and editorial and layout. I will also be exploring packaging design more during the year as well as design for retail, such as signage and POS. Exhibition design is also something that I will be exploring for the first time. I am also putting more of a focus on copywriting in my briefs this year. Practical Skills / Workshops – what, why and when? Book binding: To be undertaken in March/April as several of my final outcomes are publications/books. Letterpress: I want to build upon my traditional printing skills as I plan to use these in many of my outcomes. Digital Skills: To be worked on throughout the year with the help of peers, staff and online tutorials.
