Memories of places and people we have loved, centered around one of the greatest pieces of the repertoire,Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, an audience favorite that joyfully evokes the composer’s love of the city of Florence and his own musical joys and sorrows. Anthony McGill will showcase a piece Brahms came out of retirement to write specifically for a great clarinetist, while Augustin Hadelich brings to life Chausson’s “Poème,” both evoking memory and reflection.
