OLD SKOPJE THIS PICTURE IS OF THE TOWN SKOPJE IN 1931. IN MY TOWN IS THE OLD RAILWAY STATION.
One of the oldest pictures of the railway station This is the oldest station in Skopje. Skopje Railway Station ... In the background is the mountain Vodno which then was called Bukovic ... Can you see "bare hill Vodno/ Bukovik" ... There is a bride in front of it and a building that looks like a small hotel next to the train station Skopje
Old Railway Station, Skopje, once The construction of the station started in 1931 and was fully completed in 1940 under the project architect from Belgrade - Vladimir Gavrilovic. What is characteristic of this building is the apparent presence of different architectural concepts and different stylistic determinations that have managed to create an integrated architectural image.
Dominant position of the building is the front faรงade with colonnades of slender columns of the two stories that dominate the upper floor. Otherwise the facades are flat without subdivisions and the one thing that stand out are the windows in the form of bifora and small circular openings on the top, below the roof of the facade. This view is reminiscent of Byzantine decorative architecture incorporated in a purely academic humble area. The right wing of the station fully suffered in the earthquake of 1963, and today, on the left is located the Museum of Skopje. The building clock displays the time of the earthquake 5 am and 17 minutes.
