An Inspiring Story

achieve certain things. Working on a soul level with rebirthing techniques is part of the deeper energetic purification as you work toward enlightenment. Once all of your chakras are active and functioning, the perception of these more subtle energies is easier.

Each chapter in this book includes personal experiences that I have had to help elucidate or display that there is validity to the concepts in the chapter. When I first was introduced to the concept of kundalini, I could not wrap my head around it. I wasn’t sure I believed there was energy around the body, and I really didn’t know if energy would raise up my spine and give me some eye-opening experience. Since I first started this journey exploring the concept of kundalini, I now have a vast array of experiences that are in many ways supernatural and profound. The stories I am sharing in this book may help ground some of the concepts for you and help you see how they may help you in real life.

I used to attend kundalini classes in Los Angeles, and the teachers would share stories that made the learning process more fun. When we had a glimpse into someone’s real-life experience in relation to what we were working on, it was certainly inspiring. Author Doreen Virtue, who writes about spiritual topics, also includes personal stories in her books, which helped me tremendously when I was learning about these topics. So, for those of you who like stories and learn through them, I hope that these stories from my life enrich your own path toward what you are seeking.

The first encounter I had with kundalini yoga was in Newport Beach, California. I found myself in what seemed to be a very odd class. The teacher wore a brightly colored turban and walked into class carrying a large gong, a vat of tea, and a cushion. I was used to a teacher coming into class empty handed, so this was mildly entertaining, to say the least. I found that I couldn’t really breathe deeply or for an extended period of time without feeling nauseous, out of breath, or irritated. I really did not understand the point of the class, which was about activating a chakra.

Over the next few months, I didn’t make a conscious effort to go back to those classes, but somehow I started going more and more; there was something that kept me coming back. As an insecure twentysomething, I found it very fuddy-duddy. People didn’t wear the sexy yoga clothes I was used to; they wore frumpy clothes that challenged my ego because I subconsciously still wanted to stand out in a group or at least feel like I was around sexy, cool people. I was still in a very toxic mindset. I had so much healing to do and didn’t even know it.

My aversion to the class was there because it challenged all of my deepest fears. I didn’t want to be considered “uncool,” and I certainly didn’t see the point of making myself feel nauseous in a class where the teacher had seemingly unrealistic physical expectations of my personal strength, stamina, and passion for a simple yoga class. It triggered me a lot. What I didn’t realize is that it was putting me through a detox, and the nausea was because of that and not because the practice was flawed. I projected my issues onto the class and judged them, but luckily my judgments only kept me away for a few weeks at a time, and soon I found some peace in this teacher’s Friday night meditation class, where we would stare at a dot or just be silent.

I was confused by the idea of “energy” and yet felt drawn to it. I found myself asking the teacher after class if he knew of an energy healing class where I could learn more. He said that he had one, and he gave me my first exercise to do at home. He smiled mysteriously and said something along the lines of “I don’t know how it works, but it works.” It was a kriya for abundance and quite complicated, with lots of things to do at once and five different parts.

I enrolled in his at-home mystery school, and it was around this time that I started to do my first daily kundalini practice. This kriya changed things in ways that seemed miraculous. At the time, I was a waitress and usually made about the same as the other waiters. But for some reason, while doing this kriya, I started making consistently more than the others and kept getting the best section in the restaurant. That was one of the first things I noticed during this forty-day journey.

Then I started to notice that what I would consider high-vibration people were consistently sitting in my section each day. Healers, celebrities, and mystical people kept being seated in my section, and the conversations and interactions I had on a daily basis became very inspiring. I distinctly remember one woman who felt she needed to meet me and was a dream interpreter; then there was a palm reader who told me very accurate things. The strange experiences did not stop there. I began to receive gifts and free things almost all the time. I remember walking into a coffee shop for the first time and they just said, “It’s on us.” I went to my usual haircutter and she refused to accept pay. I received a knock on my door and a neighbor I didn’t know, who was a rep for a shoe company, was holding a bunch of brand-new shoes that happened to be in my size and exactly what I needed for work. The experiences were a direct result of charging my energy field and clearing negative energy, and I certainly felt more energetic and positive. I also had a high level of creativity and mapped out books I wanted to make. I made my first children’s book and started to explore deeper in meditation easily. Needless to say, this Sobagh Kriya was life-changing. You can find it in chapter 4 and learn it for yourself.

I found that over the course of forty days, I became stronger and was able to extend the time I did the exercise up to the maximum allotted time of fifty-five minutes. That was when my energy was really expanded and my intuition became heightened. The more time I did the kundalini exercise, the more I was able to manifest and the more positive and loving my experiences were. It essentially alchemized my life. I was excited to share it with a coworker who had her PhD from Berkeley. After her first time doing it, she was excited to show me a gift she had received out of the blue from a student of hers.

Years later in Los Angeles, I shared this kriya with my personal circle of friends. One of them, a bass player in a band, decided to work with it daily. Soon he found himself touring the world, living in a place on the coast of Malibu, and making more money. After he did it daily for a year, he sent me $111 to say thank you for sharing it with him. To this

day he has continued to expand. He now owns two homes in Nashville and has continued with his musical success, published a book, and had growth in relationships.

One student I taught this to reported that he was able to finally sell his property while doing the kriya, which helped him significantly lower his financial stress. He attributed it to the kriya and said he also randomly found money in his pocket.

One morning I woke up with extra energy and did the kriya for thirty-five minutes. It was a Monday, and I was supposed to do psychic readings at one of the company’s locations that was always dead on Mondays. I did the meditation, went into work, and was stunned that my appointments were booked out. It was people who didn’t know each other and all came in randomly that specific day. Each of them also tipped over 20 percent, which usually never happened. I can only attribute this to the kriya that I had done for a longer time than I usually did that very morning.
