The sacred pilgrimage to Makkah What a great way to end this Islamic year! As well as performing Hajj we can also celebrate Eid. We should thank Allah for everything he has given us and ask Him to provide us with more barakah (blessings) in the many years to come insh’Allah.

Yes. We should carry out Hajj but on the condition that we have sufficient wealth to carry out this pilgrimage. We can deduce from the words of Allah (swt) that Hajj is not a package holiday but a place of worship for Allah (swt), to worship only Him and to become close to Him.

So about the rewards…
The reward of performing Hajj is countless…it has been narrated in a Hadith that the Prophet Muhammed (saw) stated, “…The reward of a Hajj Mabrur (accepted Hajj) is nothing but Paradise.” (Bukhari, Muslim) Inshallah we should all make an effort to perform Hajj in our lifetime. If we are financially capable of performing this pillar of Islam then we shouldn’t delay this as only Allah (swt) knows if we will live to the next year to perform this sacred pilgrimage. For those of us who are incapable of performing Hajj this year than we can also gain the benefits of this month at home by engaging ourselves in the worship of Allah and also fasting on the first nine days of the month or fasting on the day of Arafat.
