AIMING FOR THE SUNNAH ery club Muslim girls Arch
They’ve been running for almost a year now and have experienced much success by the grace of Allah. Many people have shown an interest, however due to a restriction in numbers we can take, we have unfortunately had to turn some away. We are hoping in the near future to expand this club and take on more students to whom we can teach this amazing sport.
Our girls have progressed immensely from the start of last year and have thoroughly enjoyed attending the sessions. The ining ion during tra club has enabled Sisters in act the girsl to meet and socialise with other girls from the 11-18years age range, given them the opportunity to try something new, fulfilling the sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and it has really helped them to build on their skills of self-development. Masha’Allah these girls have been an amazing group to teach.
IKRA Archery, Loughborough T&C Applies
Archery - One of the sports encouraged by the prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him), as a sport which can help build discipline, focus and determination. Like martial arts it’s a sport which requires patience and practice. For years and years, it has been assumed that this is a male dominated sport. However in early 2008, a group in the centre of the midlands came together to start a Muslim girls Archery club called IKRA Archery.
Did we manage to grab your attention?. . . It’s intentional.

They are healthy until fat is added! • It is also important to include 2 portions of protein foods a day (fish, eggs, meat, beans and lentils) • And 3 portions of dairy foods a day (choose low fat alternatives wherever

Saida says, “What better way than to see children of all backgrounds and cultures share from the same packet of sweet treats?”. Saida’s products are suitable for people with allergies like nut/soya allergies and is approved by the Vegetarian Society. Business experience started early for Saida Ibrahim, she remembers her childhood days, when she would rush home to help her mother in the family business. Many years later, now she owns one of the very few halal confectionary businesses - Scrumptious Sweets. Scrumptious Sweets fuse Eastern morals and Western delights - they have a wide range of Halal, Vegetarian, Vegan and Organic sweet treats ready to be packed and delivered to the door. Saida went to Dubai for holiday with her family. She purchased some halal sweets which her children really enjoyed as they were not available in the UK - and that was the source of inspiration for Saida - to set up her own sweet business in the UK. Saida is determined to go the extra yard to create a range which does not seclude any
All her organic products contain natural colours and flavours derived from organically grown plants and fruits. Currently she has the Love for Gaza Gift box, Special Vegetarian Gift box and Halal Gift pack. The sweets have been produced with the eating habits of the minority in mind, the preferences of the majorities and the answer to the sweet tooth we all possess. Nobody needs to be denied from tastes we like when it is possible to have them. “Our vision is to supply sweets of Halal, Vegetarian and Organic origins to all parts of the UK with a 48 hour process and dispatch time as well as providing excellent service. The business will benefit Muslim and nonMuslim families, not only in Leicester but throughout the country.I hope to take Scrumptious Sweets Globally in ten years time but in the mean time I will be happy.”

Hosted by the University of Leicester Islamic Society,
Inspiring Words
Shaykh Habib Ali Jifri presented a talk about
Spirituality and the Soul. LMInspire asked an attendee to give a summary of the shaykh’s Inspiring Words... This is what she had to say... The prophet peace be upon him said
The soul is incessant on doing evil, but when trained it starts to listen. And what better way to train it than by following Allah’s commands. Allah says: “My servant does not draw near to Me by anything more beloved to Me than what I have made obligatory upon him.” And when the soul follows the injunctions of Allah it becomes a vehicle for the hearts illumination. The hadith continues:
“Verily Allah looks not to your bodies, nor your forms but He looks to your hearts.”
T
he most profound part of a human being is the inward. Allah made the heart the focus of His gaze as it is the state of the heart that will determine any outward action that follows. Even before an action is taken, the intention to do good or bad will first be born in the heart. We therefore need to take control of this in order to ensure that our hearts are havens, encouraging that which is good, whilst staying away from that which is bad. However, we know all too well, this is easier said than done. There’s always an opposing force (the ego or nafs) that creates challenges. The ego is a place of flux and turbulence that requires training and discipline; much in the same way a wild horse does. The dissipated “wild” energy needs to be harnessed so that it can be directed for the benefit of man.
“My servant continues to draw near to Me by the voluntary deeds, until I love Him. When I love him, I will be his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his feet with which he walks. If he asks Me, I will surely give him. And if he seeks refuge in Me, I will surely give him refuge.” As the soul journeys from being in a tumultuous state to a reproachful one and finally the tranquil state, we pray that Allah makes us among those of whom he says:
“O soul (you), in complete rest and satisfaction! Come back to your Lord, well pleased yourself, and well-pleasing unto Him! Enter you, then, among My devotees, enter you My Heaven!” Al Qur’an Chapter Al-Fajr 89 verses 27-30

Inspiring Students
Discover Your Faith @ Loughborough University By the grace of Allah, Loughborough Student’s Union’s Islamic Society held a series of lectures aimed at Muslim students across campus and at the local community during the second week of March. Guest speakers included Br Abu Muntasir talking us through the ‘journey of the soul’ and Dr Azam Thamimi a renowned Palestinian political activist sharing his views on ‘protecting our lands’. We were also fortunate to benefit from Imam Abu Usamah and Imam Farouk Zakeri guiding us on the ‘pleasure of Allah’ and ‘marriage’ respectively. The week was wrapped up with the Friday sermon delivered by Moazzam Begg, a Guantanamo Bay detainee who shared his experience by giving an account of certain incidents that took place during his capture at the detention centre and also encouraged his audience to be active in seeking the truth behind what is portrayed by the media. The attendance during the course of week peaked at over a hundred people, consisting of both brothers and sisters. For reference, the talks were recorded to allow people who were unable to attend the opportunity to benefit from the wisdom and knowledge. Further information on the status and activities of the Islamic Society can be viewed on our website at www.lsuis. com and any suggestions or questions can be forwarded to lsuis.info@googlemail.com

I do find your LMInspire Newsletter full of intresting and inspiring events, news, views and adverts. Special thanks for explaining what Valentines Day ment and what Islam says about the Pagan ritual days that some ignorants Muslims would celebrate. I hope as Muslims, people would understand and not celebrate anything un-Islamic. For married couples, every day should be a “Valentines Day”. Love the recipes and look forward to more delicious recipes in the LMInspire Newsletter. Thanks to the Dietician, Zaahira Kidy, very interesting and helpful advice on ones health. Well, wish you and your staff all the best in the future publications, InshaAllah.
