A ll of us at Lincoln Memorial University extend a cordial welcome ft to our visitors from the University of Tennessee. Here at Cumberland G"p where we are proud to uphold the f inest educationa I traditions of our great section, we look upon the faculty, staff, and students of

the University of Tennessee as our guide and inspiration. We are grateful for the time-honored friendship and cooperation which has exi3ted between our two institutions, the University of Tennessee, outstanding as a leader among our state institutions of the South, and Lincoln Memorial University, the "callege of opportunity" in the Cumberla nds.

We are honored to have the Volunteers as our worthy opponents in this game which will open officially our new gymnasium. ln the heat and tempest of the soirited contest will be cr.eated thrills and traditions which will be preserved in the annals of both institutions. May the best team win!

Coach Emmett Lowery initiates his second season

as head mentor of the Tennessee basketball team. With Coach Lowery at the reins, Tennessee last year con cluded one of the most successful basketball seasons

in its athletic history. Not only was Coach Lowery new on the " Hill" , but to make the odds greater, he introduced the " f a st-brea k" type of p lay.
