SUMMERDANCE Santa Barbara P.O. Box 360 Santa Barbara, CA 93102 www.sbdanceworks.com

The mission of DANCEworks is to build audiences for contemporary dance, to provide a place for gifted choreographers to create work, and to share the inspiration that dance provides with local audiences through performances, educational events and community outreach.

These residencies have the potential to alter the course of an artist’s career.

This unique DANCEworks format provides a much-needed opportunity for choreographers to have sustained time, space and artistic freedom with their company. This has proven to be an invaluable gift to American dance during difficult economic times.

- Christopher Pilafian, Vice Chair, Department of Theater and Dance Acting Director of Dance University of California, Santa Barbara

DANCEworks builds on the national reputation for excellence of the dance festivals created by SUMMERDANCE, and that of the historic Lobero Theatre’s decades of service to the greater Santa Barbara community.

Support from friends like you is essential to continue broadening the scope and reach of the ground-breaking work created here. DANCEworks relies on the generous support of individuals and organizations to ensure that we can continue to contribute bold, new works long into the future. Please consider a donation to DANCEworks to support the life-changing work created during these residencies. With deep appreciation,

DANCEworks residencies breathe life into the world of contemporary dance through original works which will live on in perpetuity and tour internationally. Opportunities for artists to create new work are increasingly limited by many economic and other factors which take choreographers away from their craft.
