Garden Library Design Studio V: High- Tech Design The course revolved on designing within a setting of great influence on the design, which in this case was the design of a library in an existing public garden. In addition, as indicated by the name the design needed to involve technological features and advances.
The building form was developed based on - Environmental factors: have the central spaces with books away from the direct sunlight and glare. - Providing diverse spaces : reaching from digital library, conference rooms and an open air library to exhibition spaces. - Not obstructing the existing course of walking through the garden. Have the library visible from certain directions while in other path the visitors wouldn’t even realize they are on a building until they got glimpses of parts of the library
The connection points between the curved, elevated pathways was results in large area underneath not usable due to the low height. Therefore, the floor plan design was divided into levels going down with the curved ceiling, or pathway, so as to achieve a maximum use of space.
