About Tamborine Mountain

Tamborine Mountain is a plateau 8km long, 4km wide and 560m above sea level, made up of three areas - Eagle Heights, North Tamborine and Mount Tamborine. There is no reticulated water or sewerage - residents and businesses rely on rain water tanks, bores or wells. Each property has in place it’s own eco-friendly waste management system. There are no water restrictions. The Mountain is a modern day sanctuary offering a wonderful opportunity for a rural lifestyle compared to nearby hectic city living. With all the facilities of contemporary urban life, many see Tamborine Mountain as the ideal environment in which to raise a family, a restful haven to retire to, an inspriational place to create, or a wise place to invest for the future. The Mountain attracts many varied, interesting, talented and friendly people who have discovered the region and now call Tamborine Mountain home. We really do have the best of both worlds. We live on top of a small mountain in a place that is at least 5 degrees cooler than the coast it overlooks; we farm our own water, grow our own produce and still burn real fires. We shop the old fashioned way in a village full of individual shops; our schools are excellent and you can still drive freely around the mountain without traffic holdups. Residents and visitors to Tamborine Mountain are able to enjoy refreshing rainforest walks, admire spectacular sunrises and sunsets, wine and dine at world class restaurants, take a leisurely stroll along Gallery Walk to browse the fine art and giftware in local galleries and enjoy Mountain grown coffee in one of the many local cafes.
