AFFORDABLE RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES A healthy community is essential, therefore the department provides support to local organizations and citizens by offering quality sports and recreational facilities and premises adapted to their needs. In partnership with the community, the department aims to improve citizens’ well-being by enabling them to participate in activities in a healthy, welcoming and friendly environment. Jumpstart 4-18 yrs. Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a community-based charitable program that helps kids in financial need participate in organized sports. To request funding from Jumpstart, visit : jumpstart. canadiantire.ca. KidSport 6-18 yrs. KidSport is a national not-for-profit organization that provides financial assistance for registration fees and equipment to kids aged 18 and under. The sports discipline needs to be a member of Ontario Sport and of the Hawkesbury KidSport™ organization. Annual matching grants cap out at $200 per kid. To apply, go on www.kidsportcanada.ca.
DEFINITION OF THE TERM “RESIDENT” A “resident” of the municipality is a person who owns or rents a property situated in Hawkesbury. The address of vacant land, a business or a secondary residence is also accepted. In the Recreation Guide, residents are referred to as “R” and non-residents are referred to as “NR”.

REGISTRATION & BOOKING Avoid disappointment! Register as soon as possible in order to attend to your favorite activities. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Make sure to complete the payment when you registrer to guarantee your registration. We accept cash, debit or credit cards. Cancellation/Changes We do our best to deliver quality services and to offer what is listed in this guide. However, classes, schedules and fees are subject to change. For our full refund policy, please contact the customer service. Online - reservations.hawkesbury.ca You may register for Recreational activities online during the registration period, making the payment by credit card. In order to do this, you must create an account online, which will allow you to access your file quickly during the registration process. 1. Go to the reservations.hawkesbury.ca website; 2. Click on “Login” in the top-right corner of the screen; 3. Click on “Sign up”, and follow the instructions; 4. Under registration, you will find activities and classes; 5. Under Merchandise, you will find the list of products available for purchase; 6. Under Calendar, you will be able to see the availability of our different sports facilities. It is important to retain your user name and password in order to access your account at any time. SPORTS AND AQUATIC ACTIVITIES
REFUND POLICY • A credit or a refund will be given for any request made 24 hours before the start date of the activity. • No refunds or credits will be allowed after the class starts, except for medical reasons (doctor’s note required). • An administration fee of 20 % is applicable for any request. • All requests must be submitted in writing mentioning the reason. If the administration accepts, a refund or a credit will be provided. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for the request to be proussed. • No partial refund or credit will be given for missed classes. • The Recreational Department reserves the right to cancel, transfer or change activities’ schedule.
RATIO & LEVELS
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LEVEL? Children must be placed according to their age, abilities and experience. For example, the “Parents and Tots” ADMISSION STANDARDS class is for children from 0 to 12 months of age and the preschool programs “Starfish to Whale” are for children FOR PUBLIC POOLS from 12 months to 5 years of age. In order to participate in “Sea Otter” to “Whale” children must be at least 3 REGULATION 494/17 years-old in the first week of the class. For the “Junior” program, children must be at least 6 years-old in the NOTICE first week of the class. We also offer adapted classes for swimmers with special needs. All children less than 10 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian who is at least 12 years of age and is responsible for the direct supervision of children under their care.

The Robert Hartley Sports Complex is the hub of the community, * May differ depending on the season offering you more than 200 recreational, cultural, outdoor and community-based activities over four sessions. The participation of 100 local associations adds to the recreational activities the town has to offer. ADMISSION GUIDELINES • Lockers are available free of charge. Please bring your own lock, or locks are for sale at the customer service desk. Leave all valuables at home, and take every precaution to secure your items. • The use of cell phones, cameras, or devices for the purpose of photography are strictly prohibited in the changing rooms. Photos taken in the pool must be approved by the aquatic staff. • Pool swim times are not to be used for personal profit (i.e. teaching, swimming lessons). The Town of Hawkesbury reserves the right to deny access to individuals deemed to be in violation of this policy. • Every bather must take a cleansing shower using soap and water before entering into the pool.
WHAT TO WEAR IN THE POOL • Proper bathing attire means clothing worn for swimming only. T-shirts and leggings for the purpose of swimming are allowed, but they must be form fitting. No street clothes, shoes or undergarments are permitted. • Outside footwear must be removed before entering onto the pool deck. • Children who are not toilet trained must wear swimming diapers. These can be purchased at customer service. Diapers are not permitted in the water. • Swimmers with long hair must have their hair tied for swimming or secured with a bathing cap.
SAFETY AND ADMISSION GUIDELINES Parents, guardians or group leaders are responsible for the children in their care while in the facility and must actively supervise them at all times. RATIO • Maximum of 2 children per guardian of 16 years and older. • Parent/Guardian must be within arms reach of the child of 6 years old and under at all times in and out of the water. • Children 7 years of age and older are required to use the changeroom of their own gender. • Lifeguards will administer a swim test to children of 6-9 years old to determine swimming aptitude. All children who can’t pass the swim test must be accompanied by a responsible adult in the water.

ADMITTANCE FOR DAY CAMPS AND GROUPS Guidelines apply to all day camps and groups. Arrangements for groups of 20 or more can be made. Please contact customer service or the Aquatic Supervisor for more information.
MEDICAL CONDITION Participants with open skin wounds, skin diseases as well as infectious or contagious illnesses are prohibited from using the pool. Those who suffer from medical conditions must advise the lifeguards and be accompanied by a person knowledgeable on the condition, if necessary.
YOU’LL ALWAYS GET IT RIGHT, WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE TRAFFIC LIGHT! For safety reasons, all swimmers 10 years and younger must pass a swim test before being admitted in the pool.
