FALL 2016
In my 15 years in this wedding industry, the one vendor couples express the most regret for not hiring is a videographer. Here at Lomas, we are so excited to receive videos of weddings because they truly capture the emotion that sometimes pictures don’t do justice. This season, we wanted to highlight one of our favorites, Shawn Lloyd of Lloyd Films. Not only is he a stand up dude, but he is amazing at what he does. Even if you have never been introduced to the couple he is filming, I promise you will feel like you were there from the teaser trailer alone.
For years we watched couples agonize over the concept of cutting their respective guests list for one reason or another. We usually give little bits of advice here and there and there but it wasn’t until recently that we came across a cut and dry method! The infographic below showcases a pretty simple path that should make nailing down the guest list a breeze. We aren’t saying there will not be hurt feelings, we just feel this may help you to justify who gets the golden tickets!
In their own words: Lloyd Films has been producing wedding videos for over nine years. We focus on capturing the essence of your wedding day in a cinematic style that will look fabulous for years to come. Our goal at every wedding is to get the best possible footage, while remaining unobtrusive, casual and fun to work with. Our success also comes from always putting the client first and constantly evolving in our visual style so that you receive the best possible video of your special day.
Say it with your signage! More and more we are seeing customized signage in the form of laser cutting on everything from table numbers to cake toppers. The sky is the limit with the creative vendors available to write your heart’s desire in an amazing calligraphy style cut from wood, acrylic and even gold plate. Instead of searching through the internet for something that perfectly suits your couple style, utilize your unique connection to make something personal and more meaningful.
“INITIAL HERE” When placing your entrée options on your response cards, leave an instruction for the guests to initial next to their entrée preference in lieu of an “x”. This way you will have a handle on exactly who has chosen each entrée between a couple without having to call and confirm. NUMBERING YOUR RSVPS Write a number on each response envelope in case the responder does not include their name. On a spreadsheet you can keep track of who was assigned this number. This helps to find out who responded in the affirmative and you can contact them should you have any questions.
We have so many beautiful weddings here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club that it is often difficult to choose our feature each quarter. Every so often we get blown away by a couple that hosts an event that changes the way we look at our venue and it’s clear that we need to share it with our audience. This past July we were all treated to the gorgeous wedding of Jaime and Eric, an awesome couple with some serious style! Before we get to the drool worthy details…here is a little about this duo:
THE PROPOSAL: Jaime and Eric connected in 2014 like a lot of modern couples you may know…a dating app. Unlike other couples who meet this way, they soon discovered their paths could have crossed 13 years earlier in high school. Having over 20 mutual friends, they soon realized they attended the same school only a year apart! Eric proposed in September 2015 while the couple was on a hike and made sure his best friends were on hand to document the occasion. After an amazing first meeting with them here at the club, I knew they were most definitely a Lomas couple!
THE DETAILS: The couple describes the theme of their wedding as elegant rustic chic. They wanted to incorporate soft colors, a lot of candles and subtle wood accents. They achieved this look by seating their guests at tables covered in La Crème Linens, a very light tone juxtaposed to Lumiere Bistro Chairs for the wood element. The insanely romantic florals were provided by the genius that is Taya of Compass Floral. A lounge was placed on the back patio by Lauren Sharon Vintage Rentals (now ‘To Be Designed’) for guests to enjoy and the main patio was set with wood bars and industrial cocktail tables by Concepts Event Design. The only thing more beautiful than the set-up of this wedding was the bride’s unbelievable dress made by Lazaro. We do not usually comment in these newsletters about attire, but this was the most unique and jaw dropping gown we have seen in years.
FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY: Having had Jaime's wedding dress hanging in a massive bag in our closet for months, and dreaming of exactly how it looked, I think my favorite moment was our first look. –Eric If I had to choose just one, I would say it was when I read Eric my vows and I saw his reaction and we both couldn't hold back our emotions -Jaime Thank you to Jaime and Eric for sharing your big day with us here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!
