Meet Lauren and Kevin. He might be the most romantic guy alive, and she is one of the most excited and sweetest brides we have ever met. HERE IS THEIR STORY: KEVIN: “I began planning a few weeks in advance, calling individuals and providing dates and details. The plan was for Lauren and me to spend a Sunday playing at the beach then grabbing some frozen yogurt before driving over to a BBQ; except there was no BBQ in place. Instead we took our yogurt to our favorite bluff in Solana Beach. Awaiting us was a picnic basket, flowers, her grandmothers hand woven quilt, and a bottle of champagne. I got on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with me. With tears building up and one of the biggest smiles I have ever seen, she said YES. The picnic was setup by our best friends who were all waiting around the corner. We popped the bottle of champagne and they all appeared to congratulate us! We proceeded down the hill where a Limousine was waiting. We drove 30 minutes to her parents house for a surprise engagement party. The day I asked my best friend to marry me has been the happiest day of my life.” LAUREN: “Kevin so seamlessly buttoned up every desire I had for the big moment. It was intimate, it was romantic, it was fun, and it was us. He had listened to every comment I had ever made about the „perfect‟ engagement, and now it was my story. The love, the thoughtfulness, the heart, the playfulness of this day-these are all reasons why I am in so in love Kevin, and I am thrilled to be spend my life with him.”
Photographers Lauren Conroy and Roon Brown shoot all of their weddings together, blending photojournalistic style with fine art photography. They have been photographing love for over nine years. Each wedding is a chance to meet new people and celebrate life.
The original duty of a "Best Man" was to serve as armed backup for the groom in case he had to resort to kidnapping his intended bride from disapproving parents. -Mental Floss. June 23, 2008.
Ending the evening with miniature late night snacks is a perfect way to say thank-you to your guests and to showcase your unique personality as a couple. Our favorites include Chicken & Waffles and California Burritos!
Traditional wedding cakes will always be for the masses, but couples everywhere have been exploring and experimenting with the latest dessert options. From cupcakes, cake pops and gelato to donuts, candy stations and miniature pies, everyone is daring to be different. In this ever changing landscape of sweet, a new trend is emerging in cookie displays. These aren't your grandmas chocolate chip cookies... these are gourmet and hand crafted by some of the industry's best pastry chefs. At Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, we work with Small Sweet World, founded by Ashley Witkin. She is a born and bred San Diegan and a graduate of the Art Institute. She has worked in places such as The Grand Del Mar and Cocoa Cafe in Berkeley. Her talents include amazing concoctions such as Cardamom Shortbread, Oatmeal Date, and the best Mexican Wedding cookies you've ever had. She only uses the best ingredients and can create a full compliment of cookies in lieu of a cake or just add to the fun. “I believe that any handcrafted dessert can take a wedding from ordinary to extraordinary!” - Ashley Witkin
HEATHER + KEVIN 8.16.14 We met Heather and Kevin, along with Heather's wonderful parents, back in October of 2013. The excitement from everyone was energizing for us and they really understood what they wanted to accomplish for their wedding. We knew from the moment they signed their contract, that these two were going to be amazing to work with.
HOW THEY MET: Heather and Kevin are both USD Alumni. They met casually during events but didn't truly cross paths until August of 2008 when Heather took on the role as chairperson for the years USD Homecoming. Due to a calendar blunder, Kevin showed up to a planning meeting of Heather's as the Alumni Board representative. Kevin walked Heather to her car where they talked for hours on the rooftop parking lot. They went to Mass and dinner together that weekend, eventually having their first date at Lorna's Italian Kitchen. Their adventures in faith, cooking, eating, wine tasting and traveling started from there and will continue to bond them throughout their marriage.
THE DETAILS: The ceremony took place at the Founders Chapel on the USD Campus. The guests were then invited to Lomas Santa Fe Country Club for the reception. Their wine themed wedding, orchestrated with the help of coordinator Whitney Matta, was dripping in a color palate with varying shades of silver, coral and honey. The tablescape was created using Dove Shantung linens and chiavari chairs, accented with a dark coral napkin containing a menu designed by their childhood friend. In place of numbers, they opted to name their tables after their favorite wines. Each place setting was gifted with personalized miniature bottles of either peach balsamic vinegar or olive oil hand crafted by the wonderful folks at We Olive. Mercury Glass containing an impressive display of coral roses, white hydrangeas and green hanging amoranthus stood tall on a portion of the tables, with a few low arrangements mixed in. Dinner was an array of our action stations including a "Wok this Way" station where guests could enjoy made-to-order Lo-Mein or Fried Rice in Chinese take out containers and a Mashtini station featuring Braised Beef Short Ribs. A beautiful cake flanked by a variety of gourmet cupcakes was artfully displayed by Sweet Cheeks Baking Company to complete the gourmet nature of their event. Fabulous couple, beautiful design, great food and wine and lots of love… the recipe for an amazing wedding. Thank you Heather and Kevin for letting us be a part of your journey.

“Our wedding day was THE most joy filled day of my life. As I awaited Heather's arrival at the altar, I soaked in all of the smiles (and a few tears) from everyone. When the doors opened and Heather entered, I remember being at peace. Heather looked absolutely gorgeous and her smile lit up Founders Chapel. What mattered to us most was that the afternoon would be a memorable and joy filled experience for all. Heather's attention to detail, along with the event planning team at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, really helped us complete our vision of what we wanted our wedding to be. Absolutely THE most perfect day for us and our guests.” - Kevin Dooley “I remember feeling pure joy and peace from the moment I woke up on our Wedding Day. Seeing Kevin at the end of the aisle filled my heart with more love than I could imagine and being surrounded by all of the people who have touched our lives as individuals and now as a married couple was a dream come true.” - Heather Dooley
