WINTER 2018

Each year, Pantone releases a “Color of the Year” which we at Lomas love to incorporate into event design. This year, Pantone chose Ultra-Violet as the color which is a nod to originality and ingenuity while also symbolizing musical icons, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix and Prince.

We are getting ready to host our 5th Annual Wedding Show Weekend on Sunday, March 11 from 12 - 3:00 pm! Even if you already have a venue you may find vendors that you never even thought of. From DJ’s and Florists to Photographers and Rentals, we will be showcasing some of the best vendors in San Diego! Admission is FREE and you can RSVP at www.weddingshowweekend.com. There will be raffle prizes, along with hosted food and beverage*. *Subject to all liquor laws and regulations.

Spreadsheets are an excellent way to help you and vendors stay organized and on time. For the style aspect, create a spreadsheet with different tabs for the different spaces/set ups. You can give a copy to the vendors so they know what goes where which will streamline the day of process.

Tent folds for your place cards are becoming a thing of the past! There are some amazing place card ideas that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but can be taken home as a wedding favor as well. The options are endless too—Whether you hire someone to calligraphy on Sea Glass or Geodes, Marble Tile, Leaves, Pumpkins, Fruit— the list goes on!

You can do separate spreadsheets for separate vendors, too. For example, for DJ—separate ceremony music from cocktail hour music and reception… of course, include a list of “do not plays”! Here is a quick example of a spreadsheet for a venue:

It is not often that I get to be in attendance at a wedding here at Lomas as a guest. This is why I am so excited to feature my good friend Kristen and the love her life, Jorell in this edition of The Perfect Match. An event 12 years in the making, we were thrilled to be chosen as the site for their big day. These two have built a beautiful life together that includes their two children Jordyn and Jacoby, who were a very important part of their big day. The whole day was a family centered celebration starting with Kristen’s Grandfather walking her down the aisle and her brother in law performing the wedding ceremony. It was personal details like this and the finishing touch of CeCe Penistons “Finally” played during the recessional that made for an amazing start to the day.

THE DETAILS: The wedding details for Kristen and Jorell were a mix of rustic meets simple elegance. The color palate of wine, gold, and ivory set off by touches of wood and garland made this reception picture perfect! The brides bouquet was an impressive array of peonies, anemones and greenery put together by the talented Evermore Floral who also styled the guest tables. Rounds were set with shantung linens, gold beaded glass chargers and wine napkins finished gorgeous centerpieces, while the bride and groom had their first meal as a married couple at a vintage table provided by To Be Designed. The group dined on a variety of dishes provided by Lomas and was capped off by a dessert display created by the geniuses at Sweet Cheeks Baking Company. The goal for this couple was to celebrate with friends and family, and that was certainly achieved. The dance floor was never empty and the room was full of love for this amazing couple.

FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY: “My favorite part of the day was stepping out during dinner to capture pictures during sunset. It was a fun quiet moment for us to take a breath and soak it all in. We finally did it!” -Kristen “My favorite moment of the day was our first look. The anticipation of how she would look in her dress with her hair and make up done. I remember being so nervous, but excited!” -Jorell Thank you to Kristen and Jorell for sharing your big day with us here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!
