SPRING 2015

WISH UPON A WEDDING Lomas Santa Fe Country Club is proud to partner with Wish Upon a Wedding on March 20th, 2015 to create a dream wedding of a lifetime! Wish Upon a Wedding is a non-profit organization that grants the wedding wishes of couples facing terminal illness and seriously life changing circumstances, regardless of sexual orientation. Mikela and Aaron have been dating since March 2013 and in 2014 Mikela was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer. Read all about their amazing love story here! Stay tuned for the Summer Edition of The Perfect Match when we showcase this adorable couple and their wedding.

OUR RENOVATION IS COMPLETE! Next time you are in the area, stop by and check out the newly renovated clubhouse! There is new flooring throughout, including wood tile in the lobby and new carpet in the ballroom, grill and pro shop. We also lightened up the paint and got fabulous new furniture!

During my 13 years in the industry, I have never come across a cake company who marry (pardon the pun) the two most important ingredients for wedding cake success…taste and style! We are privileged to include Sweet Cheeks in both our Gold and Platinum Packages and our couples have had only the best praise for this female owned company. “The Cheeks team was always all women (+ husbands) until last year; we now have 3 amazing MEN working for us - who knew testosterone could bring so much sanity? Ha-ha!” - Elaine Ardizzone & Donna Cellere (“Right Cheek” and “Left Cheek”; Owners of Sweet Cheeks) At Lomas Santa Fe Country Club, we strive to provide our couples with the best the industry has to offer and Sweet Cheeks delivers each and every time. From miniature dessert stations to traditional (but not ordinary) tiered cakes, there is nothing they can’t create for you. Fun Fact: Sweet Cheeks are Winners of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars! For more information on their flavors and photos of some of their work, please check out their Facebook and Instagram or Website!

Steal your friends ‘throwback’ photos from Instagram and Facebook for Escort Cards! It’s a fun and funny way for them to find themselves and find their seat!

“I am totally going to wear this dress after the wedding!” -Said NO Bridesmaid EVER! The truth is that after you take off that dyed-to-match chiffon or taffeta frock, you will most likely never wear it again unless it is to a costume party for long lost bridesmaids dresses. We have found a solution that will not only free up your closet space, but you can make a charitable donation in the process. Provided that you do not wine stain the dress in a hasty toast clink, you can take your dresses to Cinderella’s Attic. They provide girls with free formal wear and accessories for their prom and other special events. For more information on where to send your gently used dresses please visit: www.cinderellasattic.org.

One of the most commonly used pieces of music for a wedding is Cannon in D. While this is a beautiful piece of music, the modern couple is starting to march, or walk rather, to the beat of their own drum. Lyrics are being introduced into processionals with timing on particular phrasing being key for dramatic effect. Even the instrumentals are getting a facelift with arrangements of popular songs being remade by groups such as Vitamin String Quartet. First dances, father/daughter, mother/son and even grand entrance songs are starting to reflect the actual style of the couple vs. the taste of their DJ. Consider creating a wedding soundtrack. Music adds as much atmosphere to an event as the décor, so be sure that you set the tone at every opportunity with tunes that evoke the emotion you are trying to convey. If you adore an up-tempo love song and don’t think it will work for your processional, try finding an acoustic version of that song or even using it as your recessional music. Part of the reason we are so happy for the couple at the end of the romantic comedy is because the person who wrote the soundtrack helped us along with a well-placed piece of music. These are things your guests will remember most about your big day!

“On the Marquesas Islands of French Polynesia, at then end of a wedding reception the relatives of the bride all lay side by side in the dirt, face down. The bride and groom then walk across them like some sort of human rug.” ...Huh? - List 25. November 24, 2014.

AMY + MATT 10.11.14 In October of 2014, we were pleased to coordinate the wedding of a lovely pair named Matt and Amy. They have such style and after seeing all of the rustic yet clean, almost preppy wedding details, we were hooked. The pictures came in and we knew we needed to share this wedding with our readers. And yes, they are the lovely couple on the cover of this newsletter!

HOW THEY MET: Matt and Amy met when the groom first moved to San Diego to live with his childhood friend, Eric. Eric knew Amy from UCSD and introduced the two of them at a 4th of July party held at Amy’s house. They soon bonded over a marathon of the show Entourage, and the rest is history.

THE DETAILS: The two were drawn to natural elements when designing their big day which was evident in the wood lined ceremony site and succulents used as favors that doubled as escort cards. Guests were treated to a cocktail hour that included an amazing chevron print corn hole set that kept them entertained while the Bride and Groom were taking their first pictures as husband and wife. The beautiful tablescape included a color palate of navy, gold and coral with miniature chalkboard table numbers. Here is what the couple had to say about their favorite memory of their wedding day: MATT: “My favorite memory was seeing Amy in her beautiful dress, with a nervous grin on her face, walking down the steps towards me. All the planning was over and it was finally time to let everything happen and enjoy the day together.” AMY: “It’s so hard to nail down a favorite memory from the best day ever, but what stuck out to me was our little adventure in the golf cart after the ceremony. We borrowed two golf carts to get onto the green to take photos with our photographer; the photographers in one, us in the other. It was our first moment alone as a married couple, and I have never felt so relaxed and happy in my life. It was great to have that time to chill out and laugh with my husband as we cruised around the course.” Thanks to Matt and Amy Stuhff for sharing such an important day with Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!
