SPRING 2018
It’s always good to stay organized for the big day, but wedding planning books can be too cookie cutter. While weddings do have some of the same characteristics, they are never exactly the same and traditional planning books are asking that you fill-in-the-blank for something that might not even pertain to your special day. Building your own wedding planning binder will keep you more organized and is completely tailored to your wedding. Make your own table of contents with ceremony information, reception information, vendor contacts, rental agreements, inspiration page, etc.—once the big day arrives you can even hand this bad boy off to your wedding coordinator for a seamless transition. I am not suggesting that you go and purchase a three ring binder from staples… instead head over to Zazzle.com which has a ton of amazing options for wedding binders. They make fantastic gifts, too!
It’s time to think outside of the box. While pocket knives and flasks have been a standard groomsman gift over the years, there are alternatives that are more personal and much more useful. Let’s face it, we don’t want all of the groomsmen sloshed before the ceremony even starts. Etsy has some amazing options and we have found a few that we think the dudes will seriously dig. A leather toiletry bag is something they will use over and over again and the woodgrain sunglasses with a custom engraved case gives them something to wear beyond just the day of the wedding. Both can be found on Etsy.com!
Tropical weddings are definitely trending - who doesn't love big, bold leaves, bright colored flowers and umbrellas in their drink? There are many ways to make this trend fit your personal style, including bohemian, midcentury and modern! Wedding Coordinators are the best money you will spend! From full-service planning to month-of packages, hiring a coordinator will relieve unnecessary stress and focuses on the finer parts of your big day. One of the coordinators we highly recommend here at Lomas Santa Fe is Lindsay Dean with Lindsay Dean Events. She is extremely organized, professional and is a blast to work with. She even has custom package for Lomas Couples! “I have always had a true passion for events, I love planning every single detail; down to the smallest tiny thing. I will never forget my first meeting with Leann, Matt, Leann’s sister Lindsay, and her parents Paul and Sharon. They were such genuine, loving people and I knew they were going to be amazing to work with! Leann and Matt became friends after meeting at work. That friendship quickly blossomed and Matt decided to propose. They were celebrating “birth-mas” - their combined Birthday/Christmas celebration - in Big Sur. It was cold and rainy, but that didn’t deter Matt from his big plan. They hiked to a waterfall that day where Matt got down on one knee and asked Leann to marry him!
THE DETAILS: The wedding details for Leann and Matt was a soft and feminine with a color palate of blush, navy, and gold. The brides bouquet was stunning and included dahlias, greenery and a variety of different roses, put together by the amazing Evermore Floral. The brides mom and sister helped with all of the details, and to add a relaxed touch to the big day, they had a lounge set up on the back patio courtesy of To Be Designed. To Be Designed also provide a stunning sweetheart table set up which the couple made even more special by using the same champagne glasses that Leann’s parents used at their wedding ceremony. All of the amazing details were captured by Half Full Photography, and looking through all of the images, you can feel the love that Leann and Matt have for each other… and those smiles are absolutely contagious!
FAVORITE PART OF THE DAY: "At the end of the night the DJ played one of my favorite songs Adele's cover of "Make you feel my love". Our friends joined hands circling around us as Matt and I slow danced. You could really feel the love in the room and it was just a really sweet moment." - Leann “My favorite moment was seeing Leann walking down the aisle with her parents. She looked so beautiful that the gravity and joy of the moment really hit me. I was choked up through the first part of our ceremony and had to use my pocket square. " - Matt Thank you to Leann and Matt for sharing your big day with us here at Lomas Santa Fe Country Club!

“It is customary for the bride to stand to the left at the altar...The tradition actually stems from the old days of "marriage by capture", when the groom needed to leave his right hand-- which he used to hold his sword -- free in the event that he should need to fend off other suitors who may try to wisk the bride off at the last minute. Pretty dramatic, huh?“ - The Knot
