INFLUENCERS SPOTLIGHT
EMPTY ALIEN The fabulous Hannah aka Empty Alien is taking the platform! A self-taught MUA her mix of edgy looks, youtube tutorials & photoshoots make her a firm LondonEdge favourite. We sat down with this busy model & influencer to find out what makes her tick. LE: Where did the name ‘Empty Alien’ come from? At University, I felt I had no creative outlet so I started an Instagram profile to do just that. I wanted a name to represent the act of adopting a creative & strange persona to use online - like an empty shell. I’ve always felt quite alien so the name, ‘Empty Alien’ became the expression of my creative persona. For ages, I was embarrassed to show this side of me in case people thought my art wasn’t original or was too weird & I was fearful that I’d get no modelling out of it. But once I embraced that persona I found true confidence in myself. LE: How did you first get into modelling? Through social media! At 15 I applied to modelling agencies with no success but I was so set on modelling that when I hit 20 I decided to do it myself. I looked for ways I could directly apply for brand collaborations & found an app called Feels Be Discovered. Through that I won a competition for Rogue + Wolf which helped get my Instagram noticed. I also entered a model search on Instagram for Church Of Sanctus & the amazingly talented Lucinda Sinclair chose me to model for her. It was such a dream. Now it’s mostly me approaching brands to see if they’d like to work with me. As I’ve gotten older I’ve definitely gotten bolder about making those connections. LE: How would you describe your style? My style ranges from fashion-goth to tacky 00s glam, it depends on my mood. I love a lot of mesh & shimmery fabrics but also love PVCs & faux furs. I tend 14
to work my outfit around the make-up I plan. That bit takes the longest! LE: You post lots of amazing looks on Instagram. Where do you get your inspiration? Loads of places. Online creators inspire each other. I’ll see something from a certain make-up artist & be inspired to do a whole character creation. When I’m stuck I’ll draw inspo from music videos - Marilyn Manson is a great place to start. Sometimes I create imagery to represent an emotion I’m feeling - it can be therapeutic. Recently I’ve been inspired by the online series ‘Dragula’ where Drag Artists compete in the best horror/punk drag. LE: What are some of your favourite brands to wear? Punk Rave are giving me life right now, I can’t even explain. Everything they bring out is just so unique & special. I love my New Rock & Demonia boots, they make me feel like such a badass. If I’m feeling a bit more like a party though, J.Valentine is the one. LE: How did you learn to do such amazing looks? Being a bit of an awkward kid, & an only child, I spent a lot of time in my room putting on make-up. I always enjoyed it & it’s just practise that got me to this point. Pre-YouTube I used magazines but online tutorials are the best. I believe in doing something even if you don’t know how. You can’t fail - only learn. If I want to create a look, with SFX or glam make up, I go for it. If it doesn’t work I try again & keep going until you find the best way. However this why my hair has snapped off due to over-bleaching so … proceed with caution haha! LE: Where can people follow you? You can follow me on Instagram: @_empty_alien + On Youtube: EMPTY ALIEN Or on Facebook: Empty Alien 15

INFLUENCERS SPOTLIGHT
NOMORE CH ERRYPIE AKA AIMEE The lovely Aimee, aka NOMORECHERRYPIE, is one of our favourite models, influencers & body positive advocates. Her mix of photoshoots, reviews & real talk make her one to watch. We spent some time with this busy wife & Mum of two to find out a little more. LE: Where did the name ’nomorecherrypie’ come from? Originally I started this page as a weight loss journey. I had another account which was ‘sweetcherrypie’ so ‘nomorecherrypie’ was quite fitting and then it stuck. LE: How did you first get into modelling? A local photographer was doing a ‘tattoo project’ for her portfolio so I thought why not! I’ll be part of it! I loved being in-front of the camera & it seemed to come naturally to me. After that I then started getting approached from there LE: How would you describe your style? 50s Pin-up Goth! LE: You post a lot of body positive pictures to your Instagram. Why did you start doing this? Growing up I was always self-conscious. I was always a lot taller & curvier than my friends. Even in my early 20s I never felt truly comfortable with my curves. It was only after I had my 2 children I thought, wow, my body has done something pretty amazing & bounced back! That was when I started to love my body, my curves & my imperfections. LE: What are some of your favourite brands to wear? Collectif, Killstar, Sourpuss & Dr. Martens are some of my all time favourites! LE: How do you juggle your busy home & work life? Sometimes with difficulty but my kids are amazing and I have a very supportive husband. LE: Where can people follow you? Instagram @nomorecherrypie 28

This cute brand started with the pressing of a single flower, which ended up turning into an addiction! They love to showcase the inner beauty in the art of pressing flowers & want to share this with the rest of the world. It makes sense that this natural beauty, created by mother nature, should decorate peoples faces. Face Floral’s mission is to transform every face into a stunning, botanical masterpiece. Their intricate & beautiful blooms are easy to apply to faces and bodies. In a world conscious of the impact of eco-footprints, they’re hugely proud that Face Florals offers a fantastic eco-alternative to the market place. Just real flowers, nothing artificial. So even if their customers dance into the early hours of the morning at a festival, and a flower floats off their face onto the ground it will leave no unnatural trace. 33
BRAND FEATURE
PA S T E A S E SEXY FUN FREEDOM
COURTESY OF PASTEASE
Todd & Stephanie Prather are the special partnership behind the pasties brand Pastease. We asked Todd some questions to gain some further insight & here’s what he had to say: LE: How would you describe the ‘Pastease’ ethos? Sexy Fun Freedom, of course! More than just a product, it’s a feeling of empowered & liberated beauty that overcomes a woman when she dares to do ‘sexy’. When she truly feels gorgeous she radiates it outward. It’s even contagious or magnetic. Ultimately, Pastease products are a simple conduit to summon the goddess in every one of us. LE: What’s most important to you & the brand? Freedom to pursue the ideal you. We all paint that imaginary picture of how we’d like to be seen or appear at a given time or place. Pastease is your invitation & permission to make that your reality. That’s regardless of how you wear them - whether it’s your own private indulgence for the OOTD, a glittering festival nymph or poolside with your BAE. LE: Where did you get the idea to start Pastease? At first, it was a response to topless women being harassed & ticketed by officers at Lake Havasu. It made me so mad to see an officer of the law publicly shame a woman like that. This was my way fixing that problem for everyone. LE: You’re so busy on your insta stories! What motivates you to keep going? Stephanie might say it’s the stream of letters of gratitude she gets from women inspired by her to give themselves permission to feel good in their skin. People respond to authenticity & actively seek it 34
out in our virtual world so she strives to put that out there. It’s true! We can all be real AND sexy. Yes, we put up some beautiful, polished photography along with casually gorgeous everyday selfies & some fun stuff too. But it’s all with the same message that the spectrum of beauty is vast with everyone in between. LE: What can buyers expect from your new collection? I couldn’t honestly tell you. We’re constantly adding to the line as inspiration strikes. =) LE: Where does your inspiration come from? Stephanie is my muse. Our minds synchronize on new ideas spurred by gaps we find in our markets. Often she’ll come to me with something she’d like to see and we’ll whittle it down to the perfect design … or we’ll both stand over our designer and poke and prod at an idea until it clicks. LE: Who is Pastease’s customer demographic? People with breasts & some without. LE: What kind of stores stock Pastease? Clothing & lingerie boutiques, costume, party, novelty & even some adult stores. LE: Which brands does Pastease ideally sit with in stores? You’ll often find J. Valentine, Roma & Tyes by Tara nearby! Go see them at booth 204 at LondonEdge Las Vegas. www.pastease.com 35

0 3 SU C C U B U S - N E T H E R LA N D S A favourite VIP member of the Edge family is Succubus from the Netherlands. We asked Arjan & Joyce to give us some insight into their journey:
04 M ANILLU S IO N - N ORWAY Oslo’s Manillusion, a loyal supporter of LondonEdge for years, is the perfect retailer for lovers of rockabilly, vintage, retro, pinup & burlesque. Owner Lise Karlsen shared her experiences.
“We just hit lucky 13 years! Season after season we’re amazed by the creativity. From Collectif to Irregular Choice, from Banned to Dr. Martens… Our HQ is in picturesque Wormerveer with 2 brick shops in Amsterdam & Alkmaar then all over the world wide web with our websites www.succubus.nl, .com & .de. We first visited LondonEdge in February 2005 & we didn’t know where to look first! Back then we did elegant darkwear &, having gradually moved to vintage-inspired, we still have a love affair with extreme styles. LondonEdge is our most important tradeshow because of the number of brands that can’t be found
The best thing is that Edge keeps alternative wear alive & kicking. They’re devoted to bringing in unique brands so we can make the streets a lot more interesting!” Learn more about this successful retailer at www. succubus.com
“Manillusion is based in Oslo, in the hip area of Grunerløkka & is also online so have customers all over Norway & beyond. We stock lots of brands most popularly being Collectif, House of Foxy, Emmy, Miss Candyfloss, Unique Vintage, Tatyana & lots more. I’ve been coming to LondonEdge since 2005! I’ve also been to Edge in Berlin, New York & Las Vegas. I make sure I visit the show because it’s important to meet our brands face to face & to touch the clothes & accessories before we buy. We’ve a passion for this marketplace! More of favourite brands are What Katie Did, Vintage Diva, Grace & Glam, Woody Ellen, Stop Staring & Voodoo
LondonEdge is super, as it’s almost a one-stop shopping place for retro shops like mine.”
0 5 S HO CK S T O RE - SWE D E N Shock Store from Malmo has been a well-loved regular since LondonEdge began. Sweden’s biggest alternative store, we asked buyer Linn Ekman for her insight: “Our physical stores are in Sweden whilst our web shop ships worldwide. Shock has been coming to LondonEdge for many, many years – it’s like a tradition. I personally have visited for the last 3.5 - 4 years! It’s so important to see our suppliers’ new collections in real life which means it’s essential to visit the show. Not only that but sourcing new brands & products is critical because we must add something new. The new stuff is important. By meeting our suppliers & making real contact with others we contact several times each season, it improves our business. To name our favourite LondonEdge brands is to hard! We love all the brands we stock! We can’t chose! When we visit the show it also allows us to meet outside of the office & network in a relaxed atmosphere which is a good way to do business.” Learn more about this successful retailer at www. shockstore.com

YOUR ALTERNATIVE FASHION STORE TO BUY & SELL LondonedgeNOW is the digital incarnation of the world-renowned fashion trade event LondonEdge. Launched at the millennium, LondonEdge is a permanent fixture on the international lifestyle fashion calendar.
In between shows, store buyers will be able to source, view & order multiple collections via one single platform rather than the inconvenience of ordering from multiple individual brand digital storefronts.
Trade shows in real life are still a critical element in the process of sourcing and buying products in the 21st Century but, alongside this, sourcing & buying merchandise is done online between shows. Sitting in partnership with the internationally recognized show LondonEdge, LondonedgeNOW will provide retailers around the world with access into new and trusted designers, manufacturers, wholesalers and agents with the purpose of building a digital showroom and meeting place from which to buy & sell.
Launched in February 2018, businesses can register to buy or to sell at: www.londonedgenow.com
For further information about the launch contact operations@londonedge.com / +44 (0) 116 279 5179.
Entirely free for retailers to use, the service is also free of charge to companies who exhibit at the LondonEdge show. Designers, manufacturers and wholesalers who can not exhibit at the next LondonEdge show can still be involved for a monthly fee. We’d love to speak to you about the opportunity so, for further information, please contact carole@ londonedge.com or +44 (0) 116 279 5179.
