EDITOR'S LETTER It's hard to believe we're here, in a brand new issue layout and a brand new era of London Runway! I talked about this at length in our last Editor's Letter, so if you missed it, remember that this page of Issue 82 is free to read online at issuu.com.

We get used to the way things are, and sometimes it feels painful to leave them behind. But change can also be refreshing and invigorating. It can be a way to kickstart creativity, to fire up your efforts, and to encourage greatness.

I hope you'll feel, as we do, that this is what we are going for with our new style.

Onwards and upwards, and I wanted to give you an idea of what we are looking at across 2023. Firstly, the events schedule! As you know by now, if you are a regular reader, there are a few events at London Runway that you can set your watch by.

Our plans continue as normal to run the Face of London Runway, with applications opening for the first time in

April. This year we have a bit of a twist on the format - a new theme specifically for this year! It's a trial of a new way of doing the Face, and if successful, we'll hope to run themed categories each year from then on. I think you're going to love it! Remember to sign up to our mailing list at londonrunway.co.uk or subscribe to our digital or print issues if you want to be notified when applications are open.

this year and I'm so looking forward to sharing the winner's cover photoshoot with you - I've seen the moodboard and let me tell you, I am excited!

After the Face of London Runway, we'll be back for our weekend of fun with the London Runway Virtual Festival in August. Started during the pandemic but now a strong LR tradition, our Virtual Festival is our way to bring the magazine to life and beam it right into your bedroom. We'll be offering live shoots as always and plenty more entertainment which you can tune into live any time during the weekend. If you feel excited already, don't forget you can watch back the previous years' entertainment on our Instagram!

It's going to be an amazing year - I can just feel it. And with our pages bursting with editorials, catwalk galleries, and all the latest big events, it's going to be a lot of fun every single month.

Now in its second year, our Lens of London Runway competition for photographers will be taking place starting in August. It was a great success

Finally, we'll conclude the year as we always do, by opening nominations for our London Runway Sustainability Awards. That will bring us full circle as the most recent winners were just announced in our last issue.

So, here's to the future. To making this year the best one we can be. To not only weathering changes, but turning them into the best thing ever to happen to us.

We can do it. You can, too. Are you with us?

Let's go on this journey together, and use the difficulties as fuel for our fire to never give up striving for the best.

We are unable to feature real fur, models that we deem to appear very unhealthy, drug use, self-harm, portrayal of discrimination or unpleasant stereotypes, or smoking at this time.

The collaborative level of our editorial photoshoots is dependent on you. You can join us on set and help style your pieces, or you can send some items over for us to use and work with. You can also tell us your ideas and what you want us to do, or let us use our creativity.

The process begins with working on a moodboard for your approval. Once you're happy with the direction we will take the shoot in, we book a date to shoot and organise the rest of the team, including models and makeup artists. We will also be able to confirm the issue publication date at this stage.

Included in the price: model casting, model hire, location hire, photographer fees, makeup and hair artist hire.

How long have you been modelling for?

I started modeling in 2016, but I have been on and off for quite some time.

Starting 2022, I’ve taken it more seriously and invested a lot more time and effort into my modeling career.

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from the Philippines, growing up in a secluded small farm far from the city. At 15, my family and I moved to San Francisco.

Do you have an unusual talent or party trick?

Ever since I was little, I have been very much into mixed martial arts. I can remain balanced while doing high kicks countless times with only one foot on the ground supporting my weight the entire time.

What are your modelling ambitions?

My modeling ambitions are to be able to walk NYFW and LAFW and be represented by the brands I love, such as Calvin Klein, Adidas, and Chanel. I want to be able to look back in time and see that I pursued my dream no matter what. I want to be able to leave my mark in this industry and show everyone that I was HERE.

The company was founded in October 2022 and is at the early stages with the debut collection being released in January 2023.

To celebrate the opening, we have released an interactive POD collection, the first of its kind.

Where did the idea come from?

We live in a fast-paced world where quantity is often more valued than quality. We shop for mass produced clothes and originality is almost hard to catch. The Morell brand is here to challenge that way of thinking and making clothes. We still believe in original thinkers.

Currently, how many people work for the business?

The brand is still a one person show but excited to grow in the upcoming year.

What are your company values?

The Morell brand stands for diversity, strangeness, and resistance to modern standards and norms. Which is why there is ohm in the logo, as it is the SI derived unit of electrical resistance. We challenge fashion and always look for ways to innovate and bring positive change. Our goal is to create more originality in the fashion industry by bringing back the values of unique and handmade pieces, custom designs, and made-tomeasure clothing available to all.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start a business?

Don't overthink it. Just start— you'll figure it out along the way.

Where do you hope the company will be in 5 years time?

Wow! I would love to see it impacting the fashion industry in a positive way, merging art and fashion and expanding to a global market.
