Less waiting for emergency care (and a lot more care, if you need it).
In a medical emergency, every minute matters. So, at Longview Regional Medical Center, you’ll find faster care in the emergency room. We work diligently to have you initially seen by a medical professional* in 30 minutes – or less. And, with a team of dedicated medical specialists, we can provide a lot more care, if you need it.
The 30-Minutes-Or-Less E.R. Service Pledge – only at Longview Regional Medical Center.

EXTRA! EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! Over the past several months our team has been considering how to improve and engage our readership. During the discovery process the popular phrase EXTRA EXTRA kept coming to mind.
The purpose of our magazine (newsletter) is to inform readers, but more importantly it is a tool for us to engage individuals to voice their dreams for our community. One of our goals is to utilize the magazine more effectively to better understand and identify who is willing to help us address the needs of our community. Another goal is to provide a tool for our members to promote their businesses to others who also want to prepare Longview for the generations to follow. I do hope you enjoy the new format, new look, and distribution method! In our premier issue We want YOUR Chamber magazine to be the best it can be while delivering content that is relevant and meaningful. If you’d like to serve on our content team please contact Suzanne Brown at sbrown@longviewtx.com. Happy New Year!
Perhaps you are wondering what will change with the publication. For me, here are some examples of exciting new features! New name – R.E.A.C.H. Why? We want to remind our customers of our 5-year strategic plan that envelops redevelopment, education, advocacy, collaboration and health.
Kelly Hall President/CEO
Electronic Distribution – Too often we hear, “I don’t receive the newsletter.” There could be several reasons for this: excellent “gatekeepers”; not everyone in a company receives a printed version, etc. Advertiser Benefits – advertisers will enjoy a more robust experience with existing and potential customers because of the built-in features in the application itself like links within in the ad to the company’s website. Increasing customer engagement. Content Depth – too often articles can’t truly communicate a message due to word count limitations. The new format will allow us to drive readers to more information on our website and perhaps member websites to better explain the why, what, how, when and where.

Planning has begun to develop an itinerary for February, 26-28. Chairman Richard Manley explains, “WE can raise the level of our leadership ability together in order to address our local predicament. Learning best practices provides us the opportunity to sharpen our skills, broaden our perspective and influence others. Going on InterCity trips allows us to improve the way we think before we act!”
ED
Why an InterCity Visit? The visit is designed to glean new ideas and to envision the WHAT IF. Perhaps the most important aspect of an InterCity Trip is to develop perspective and build stronger relationships. What we can tell you is our past InterCity trips have provided opportunities to introduce our delegation to innovative programs and impactful projects. Community leaders continue to adapt and implement new strategies for our community. Examples include the I-20 Task Force led by Dr. Dale Lunsford (former Chamber Chairman), the comprehensive plan, small area plans for downtown and I-20, and more! One could say the candid speakers alerted past delegations to challenge our way of doing business and press into the issues our community is currently struggling with.
Like Longview, Waco also had a good foundation to build from as a result of strong community and business leadership. Their comprehensive plan was completed in 2000 by Freeze & Nichols (same company who completed Longview’s). They have developed downtown area plans, transportation plans, and are currently working on their River District plans. Waco’s success continues to be recognized by entities such as www.livability.com and Forbes.com Best Places for Businesses and Careers.

Ware Elementary School Principal Sheppard states, “As parents, we all face parenting challenges and “Raising Highly Capable Kids” has provided our parents with an opportunity to spend 13 weeks with other parents and training facilitators in facing those challenges and gaining a better perspective on raising their children. This program will not only have a lasting impact on the parents that participated, but their children, our school, and our community.” Seventeen business leaders from various companies volunteered their time to facilitate the classes throughout the semester. Raising Highly Capable Kids™ is one piece of many of the Chamber’s inaugural Career Ready Plus Certified Campus partnership with Ware. The Chamber’s goal is to engage business leaders, such as the program’s presenting sponsor Kellogg Brown & Root, in schools so our community can help equip our students with career-readiness skills. Doing so will strengthen the future economy of Longview. Rezilient Kidz™ issued an 18-month grant for the class curriculum to the Chamber which can be expanded for use by other organizations throughout the community. If your organization is interested in hosting this program before February 2019, please contact Misty Amaya, Chamber of Commerce Education and Workforce Manager, at 903.237.4041, or MAmaya@longviewtx.com.

“Elf on a Shelf Your Business The Importance of Shopping Local
Encouraging folks to shop local during the busy holiday season was the objective of the Elf on a Shelf campaign! The 2017 holiday season marked the second year this contest was utilized to help promote businesses during the Christmas season when more people were out in the community shopping. A Chamber Ambassador, a community leader from a local business, took either Bella or Buddy or both, to a participating business, focusing on restaurants and retail stores. At the location, the Ambassador placed the elves in different spots around the business without revealing the name or slogan of their whereabouts. The Ambassadors then sent the pictures, along with a clever description about what the elves were doing, to the Chamber where they are formed into a video and posted on our Facebook page. After several days of participants guessing the business, the names of those submitting correct answers were put into a drawing for a prize graciously donated by the participating business. The winner was contacted by the Chamber and the contest rolled on! It was a fun, lively, and spirited campaign for the ambassadors, participating businesses, and the Chamber, with all efforts toward promoting shopping local area businesses to keep tax dollars local. Thank you, Bella and Buddy!

Strengthening the Voice of Business Elected Officials Reception Expands to Encompass Legislative Tour
APRIL 16, 2018 It’s Elected Officials Reception on Steroids. We’re expanding and strengthening our relationships on behalf of the business community by kicking up the Elected Officials Reception several notches. It’s moving to April, optimum timing for a crawfish boil, the beloved dish of a local fan. By expanding the invitation list to include state-level representatives across the State of Texas, we’re working to draw elected officials to East Texas and learn about: • • • • •
business activities and plans for growth, educational opportunities and plans of coalition building, health care and well-being, transportation success stories and future projects, and the future of energy and the impact on our state and country.
The overall objective is to open lines of communication in order to identify state resources to advance the Gregg County trade area initiatives.
