Oughtibridge WM Ladies 1 Mansfield Town Ladies 0 THE Remembrance Day women’s fixture down at the War Memorial turned out to be very similar to the Sheffield derby with Oughtibridge completely dominating the 90 minutes but finding away keeper Amy Hood in fine form. The difference in this game was that the WM Ladies did find the back of the net, Lauren Turner

darting through on 41 minutes and smashing home to settle the nerves. Anyone who thought the floodgates would open was mistaken as the second half continued in the same manner with Hood making numerous saves to frustrate the home team.

This gave Mansfield hope of snatching something but the Oughtibridge back line held firm with Katie Denton producing a player of the match performance. Both teams were happy with their performances and represented their clubs impeccably for the commemoration.

ANOTHER CUP AND LEAGUE DOUBLE WIN FOR CHURCH IT was two wins in a week again for Penistone Church, progressing past Grimethorpe Sports in a thrilling 4-3 win in the third round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup on Wednesday before a 1-0 defeat of Knaresborough Town on Saturday. Church were losing 1-0 at half time in the Cup, thanks to a Lee Bennett goal on 30 minutes for Grimesthorpe. However, the second half exploded into life with Conor Glavin and Andy Ring putting Church 2-1 up by the 67th minute. A frantic end to the game saw Tony Bennett draw Grimethorpe level but goals from Glavin and Sam Scrivens took the win for Church, despite a late Stephen Bennett penalty for the visitors. Saturday was a big away game as Church took on Knaresborough Town in the league. A Greg Anderson own goal settled the fixture. Manager Ian Richards described the result as “the result of the season so far.”
