Windmill pupils show off art skills

ON Thursday July 4, children at Windmill Hill Primary School showed off their art skills by exhibiting their work in an exhibition for parents and carers.

Over 300 self-portraits were on display, with artists ranging from four to 11 years of age. Mrs Pape, the teacher who organised the exhibition said she was, “delighted” with the turn out for the event.

After taking part in The Great British Spring Clean, the children from Windmill Hill School were asked by Burncross Action Team to design a poster based on the litter the children collected. The response was excellent, with many children showing great concern as to the problems discarded litter brings to our environment.

Councillor Mike Levery agreed to judge the competition, which was won by Chloe Barton, a Year Two pupil. Chloe was awarded a certificate and £50 for her class. Her design will be reproduced, to be displayed near our woodland, green spaces and vulnerable areas in Burncross.
