The overriding theme amongst the places featured on these pages are the stunning locations and locally sourced produce on offer.

From rural barns to traditional pubs serving good honest food, we even cover events at stunning grade one listed stately homes.

This area is packed full of wonderful places to go out and eat. So go on - phone an old friend, round up all the family or take a loved one out for a spot of lunch a coffee or an evening out.

Old Horns, High Bradfield

Enjoy great quality ales and traditional pub food at the Old Horns, a traditional English pub set in the incredible Bradfield countryside.

Located in an enviable position with views over the Bradfield moors and next to St. Nicholas’ Church, the popular pub caters for the local community and visitors to the area.

Known for a friendly atmosphere and great food and drink, they are established as one of the best pubs in England and have won a number of Thwaites Awards including ‘Pub of the Year’ and ‘Best Food’.

The menu is packed full of exciting, fresh dishes, made with local ingredients wherever possible. From traditional pub classics to freshly prepared sandwiches and jacket potatoes, there’s something for all tastes.

Plough Inn, Low Bradfield

A traditional country pub that serves locally sourced, traditional pub food with an extensive menu. The Plough Inn is nestled in the rolling hills of Bradfield and sits on the banks of Dam Flask Reservoir in the peak park area of north Sheffield.

The family orientated public house is a haven for walkers, cyclists and general country loving folk who descend to relax and enjoy superb local ales and fresh traditional pub food.

Just a short stroll down the road to the village green, with a picturesque stream and picnic area, a fantastic cricket pitch, and plenty of scenic walks around the many dams in the area, with all with routes leading back to the Plough Inn for that well earned pint.

Wentworth Woodhouse

The Grade One listed stately home in South Yorkshire, for the second year running, is hosting the Wentworth Woodhouse Gin Festival.

Wentworth Woodhouse boasts the longest façade of any country house in England. It stands in 87 acres of gardens and grounds and has extensive views over former parkland, including a deer park and lakes, which are vested in the Fitzwilliam Wentworth Amenity Trust.

Featuring an eclectic mixture of gin providers, the festival will be offering refreshing citrus gins to sweet rhubarb to the classic nononsense gin. Peruse this wonderful stately home and immerse your senses in the unique offering of each gin vendor and their bars.

Ticket price includes entry to the event, welcome gift and a range of samples from gin traders. Adult tickets are £15 and this is an over 18 event only, ID will be checked on the door.

Coffee Apple

Located in the heart of Stocksbridge, Coffee Apple Café has created a relaxed and quirky environment with a strong emphasis on providing a family friendly location.

The coffee shop provides a space where parents can relax with their children while they enjoy a coffee, cake or meal.

There are great menu options, excellent baby changing facilities and plenty of space for pushchairs and prams. The café is proud to be a designated safe space for breastfeeding mothers.

From the onset the owners have been committed to keeping things local, sourcing products from as close by as possible, shopping locally for fresh meat and veg produce, use locally farmed free range eggs and locally baked fresh bread, all of which feed directly into the local economy.

The coffee is even roasted in Yorkshire and provided by Sheffield based coffee company Pollards.

Bistro in the Barn

Want to enjoy a tasty plate of food in a relaxed atmosphere with no faff? Then get yourself to the wonderfully rural Bistro in the Barn.

The specials boards showcase favourite ingredients of the week and offer diners something exciting and tasty to try.

The staff put as much love into their drinks menu as with the food with some wonderful wines from around the world and a small but quality ‘treasury of tipples’ behind the bar.

Bistro in the Barn claims to be the best gluten free restaurants in the Sheffield area and one of the best places to eat in Barnsley, the nearest large town. They do their best to provide something for everyone at the bistro.

The Bistro in the Barn is as beautiful as the menu. A welcoming restaurant in the perfect place to get together with friends and family to enjoy great food, great drinks and great conversation.

Though secluded, they are in the middle of Yorkshire making them one of the top places to eat for diners from the areas of Millhouse Green, Barnsley, Penistone, Holmfirth, Sheffield, Thurlstone and the Holme Valley.
