CHURCH TAKE TALLY OF FOUR POINTS IN A WEEK PENISTONE Church racked up another four points in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division this week with a draw on Wednesday and a win on Saturday. On Wednesday, Church visited Yorkshire Amateur and came away with a 2-2 draw. Jordan Coduri and Tom Charlesworth were on target but an Ashley Flynn penalty and a late equasliser from Aidan Savory saw Amateur earn a share of the points. ON TARGET: Danny Howes
On Saturday, Church were away from home again, making the trip to Eccleshill United.
But it was to be a more fruitful journey this time, with Church scoring three goals to take all three points. Church had to wait for the second half to open their account but once Nathan Keightley put them ahead on 49 minutes, Danny Howes added a second just after the hour and Kieran Ryan put the icing on the cake in the dying stages of the contest. Manager Ian Richards said: “An excellent performance and result today, I’m really pleased for the players, I’m really pleased we got a clean sheet, we’ve been due one and we’ve de-
served one especially in difficult conditions like that even more so. “It’s going to give us a lot of confidence getting a clean sheet and it’s got to give us a lot of confidence scoring three goals. We now just have to focus on what’s in front of us. I’m really pleased to get the three points we now use that with a week of rest, recovery and training preparation for Staveley on Saturday.”
