Keep Stocksbridge Tidy project

Barnsley College Higher Education (HE) has launched a new course guide showcasing its range of higher-level courses. The College offers higher-level programmes including foundation and honours degrees, Higher and Degree Apprenticeships, HNCs, HNDs and professional business and leadership courses which are validated by leading universities. A wide range of part-time and full-time courses are available in subjects including Animal Management, Art and Design, Business and Management, Construction, Childcare and Teacher Training, Criminology, Communities and Criminal Justice, Health and Social Care, Music and Sport. The small and friendly campus offers flexible courses that are suitable for anyone who is wanting to study at undergraduate level including those that will be finishing College or Sixth Form, anyone who is currently in employment and wants to improve their skills and knowledge to help with a promotion or career progression, or anyone who is wanting a career change and is looking to retrain. The Steel Valley Project, a Stocksbridge based environmental charity, has launched its Keep Stocksbridge Tidy project, working with the local community and landowners to improve green spaces, removing litter and fly tipping in the Stocksbridge area. Developed in response to an increase in the number of people using green spaces as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions, the project will involve volunteers in helping to tidy up parks, woodlands and other outdoor places to make them safe and attractive for people and wildlife. The project has been made possible with funding from National Lottery players through the Community Fund and the Joseph Sheldon Trust. Tom Newman, Steel Valley Project General Manager said “The Covid-19 restrictions have brought huge changes to how green spaces are used and it’s great to see more people enjoying the outdoors. Unfortunately, this has also brought increased anti-social behaviour and
