Iazko egutegian Bruno Munariren abizena eta Amunarrizena nahasi genituen (Hondarribian oso ohikoa azken hori). Txantxarekin jarraituz, koloreen gardentasunekin eta tipografiarekin lan egin dugu. Diseinatzaile italiar handiaren lerroari jarraituta.

En el calendario del año pasado confundimos el apellido de Bruno Munari con el de Amunárriz (un apellido muy hondarribitarra) Siguiendo con la broma, trabajamos con las transparencias de colores y la tipografía. Muy en la línea del gran diseñador Italiano.
In last year’s calendar we got all mixed up with Bruno Munari’s surname, renaming him Amunarriz (a very common surname in Hondarribia). Just to keep the gag running, we gave an additional twist to those colour transparencies and the fonts, in keeping with the great Italian designer’s style.

Itsasargiak behin eta berriz agertzen diren elementu grafikoak dira. Euskal kostaldeko itsasargirik ezagunenetako baten bertsio berria duzue hemen. Matxitxako lurmuturreko itsasargia.

Los faros son siempre elementos gr谩ficos muy recurrentes. Os mostramos nuestra versi贸n de uno de los faros mas conocidos de la costa vasca. El faro del cabo de Matxitxako.
Lighthouses are always a recurring graphic theme. Here is our version of one of the most famous lighthouses in the Basque coast: the lighthouse of Cape Matxitxako.

Ez daukagu erabat argi logo honen izena. Rand, Paul Rand, gure diseinatzaile gogokoenetako bat da. Kontua da diseinu honek ez daukala berak egiten zituenen tankera handirik.

No tenemos del todo claro el nombre de este logo. Efectivamente Rand, Paul Rand es uno de nuestros diseñadores favoritos. Lo que pasa es que este diseño tampoco se parece a nada hecho por él.
We’re not 100% sure about the name of this logo. OK, Rand comes from Paul Rand, one of our favourite designers. But it must be said this design doesn’t resemble Rand’s stuff in the slightest…

Esta imagen de las cuerdas y el zarzal viene de un catálogo de verano de hace un par de años. Partiendo de esta foto (puesta al revés) dibujamos las masas de colores que ya habían sido definidas con las cuerdas.

This image of the strings and the bramble patch comes from a summer catalogue from a couple of years back. Starting from this picture (turned upside down) we drew the masses of colours that had already been defined by the strings.

Partiendo de una foto antigua de un monta単ero en blanco y negro hemos pintado con un rotu rojo una monta単a imaginaria a su espalda. El Txindoki es un monte precioso en el centro de Gipuzkoa.
We took an old black-and-white picture of a mountaineer and we made a marker drawing of an imaginary mountain behind him. The Txindoki is a beautiful mountain in the middle of Gipuzkoa.

A new version of one of our longest-running designs. If previous versions were done with textures, images or colours, this time we used colour diagonals as well as the design’s shapes.

Using masses of colours for screen-printing is just satisfaction guaranteed! In this case the idea for the composition comes from an old classical music album cover.

We keep going back to our biggest influences – this time it’s the Swiss designers of mid-20th Century. A spiral made of colour triangles. A mix of Font, Composition and Colour.

Beti-betidanik gustatu izan zaizkigu marradun kamisetak. Kasu honetan, botila-sorta bat ipiniko dugu kamisetaren lerroa marrazteko. Koloreak, neurriak eta likoreak konbinatuta. Guztia ere eskuz egindako kutsuarekin, marrazki bizidunen tankera emanez.

De siempre nos han gustado las camisetas de rayas. En este caso utilizamos una sucesión de botellas para dibujar la franja de la camiseta. Combinación de colores, tamaños y licores. Todo ello con un toque manual que le da un aire de dibujos animados.
We’ve always had a soft spot for striped T-shirts. In this case we used a series of bottles to draw the stripe of the tee. A combination of colours, sizes and liquors. All of it with a handmade touch that gives it a cartoonish kind of feel.

Gogoratzen txikitan ikastetxean gure lagunik onenaren kopetan pegatzen genituen itsaski biribil horiek? Ba, horietatik abiatuta egindako logoa; Kubako film baten kartelean inspiratuta egindako konposizioa.

Partiendo de esas redondas pegatinas que de pequeños en el colegio pegábamos hasta en la frente de nuestro “más mejor amigo”, composición inspirada en el cartel de una película cubana.
Starting from those round stickers we used to stick on the forehead of our ‘bestest friend’, here is a composition inspired on the poster of a Cuban film.

Orain gutxi, denda berria ireki dugu Madril kanpoaldean. Denda egurrezkoa da erabat. Oso azkar ireki genuen, eta konturatu ginen ez geneukala erakusleihorik inauguraziorako. Hala, egur zatiak hartu, eta «honako hau» egin genuen.

Recientemente hemos abierto una nueva tienda en las afueras de Madrid. La tienda está hecha totalmente de madera. La apertura fue tan rápida que nos encontramos que no teníamos un escaparate hecho para la inauguración. Así que tirando de retales de madera de la obra nos fabricamos “esto”.
We recently opened a new store in the outskirts of Madrid. This store has been completely furbished with wood. Time was so tight that we found ourselves without a shop window on the very day of the opening. So we just took some scattered bits and pieces of wood and came up with ‘this’.

Orain urte batzuk Xalbadorren argazki bat erabili genuen koloreztatuta, eta sekulako arrakasta izan zuen. Hau sorta hartako beste argazki bat da.

A couple of year ago we used a photography coloured by Xalbador that was a real success! This one comes from the same film.

Inolako lotsarik gabe aitortzen dugu: Müller-Brockmann gustatzen zaigu. Inork ez du jakin berak bezala kartelak tipografiarekin sortzen. Honako hau haren ildo berean egindako tipografia-diseinua da.

Lo reconocemos sin tapujos, nos gusta Müller-Brockmann, nadie ha sabido componer carteles con tipografía como lo hacía él, pues eso esto es un diseño de tipografía muy en su línea.
There’s no denying it we’re huge fans of Müller-Brockmann. When it comes to using fonts in poster, he is our favourite bar none. This font-based design is very much in his style.

We have always been very fond of colour circle-based designs. This time the idea was to create a T-shirt that looked like pharmaceutical packaging.

Diseinu hau Henry Flynt «fluxus» artistarenaren bertsioa da. Bere manifestuan, Flyntek art establishment delakoaren kontra gogor egin zuen. Guk aldaketatxo bat proposatu dugu, eta surfaren munduaren eta kulturaren kontra egin dugu.

Este diseño es una versión del artista “fluxus”, Henry Flynt. En su manifiesto Flynt arremetía contra el “art establishment”. Nosotros le damos un ligero giro y cargamos contra el mundo del surf y su cultura.
This design is our take on a design by Fluxus artist Henry Flynt. In his manifesto, Flynt rants against the ‘art establishment’. We altered it slightly and rant against the world of surf and its culture.

Another surf logo in this collection. Once again we employed recurring themes such as the orange/sun or Mickey Dora/surf dichotomies.

Aurten surfarekin lotutako hainbat kamiseta atera ditugu. Kasu honetan, Velázquezen koadro bat baliatu dugu: Inocencio Xen erretratua, Mickey Dora handiaren esaldi bat erantsita.

Este año hemos sacado una serie de camisetas relacionadas con el surf. En este caso utilizamos un cuadro de Velázquez, se trata del retrato de Inocencio X a la que añadimos una frase del gran Mickey Dora.
This year we have designed a series of surf-related T-shirts. For this one we used Velázquez’s Portrait of Pope Innocent X, to which we added a sentence by the great Mickey Dora.

Una recreación de nuestro logo, utilizando fotos antiguas de veleros regateando en la bahía de la Concha. Los colores que se utilizan son tintas directas de cuatricromía.
A recreation of our logo, for which we used old pictures of sailing ships meandering along the Bay of La Concha. The colours we used are all inks straight from CMYK.

The “L” and the “M” from an alphabet we found on the Internet. We don´t know much about the designer – all we know is that it was designed in the early 70´s.

How could we forget Nerja, La Dorada, El Piraña? And most of all, there was Chanquete. Those of us who ever lived a blue summer still treasure fond memories of this mythical character.

Euskal kultur bizitza hankaz gora ipini zuen Gaur taldeak. Eta Nestor oinarri-oinarrizko zati izan zen talde haren barruan. Sekulako ohorea izan da guretzat Nestor Basterretxeak gurekin lan egin izana; kasu honetan, paperean egindako serigrafia batetik abiatuta kamiseta bat sortu genuen. Besarkada bero bat Nestorrentzat, baina baita Jaime Rodríguez Salísentzat ere, gure bitartekari berezi izan baita.

Néstor fue parte fundamental de aquel grupo de artistas que bajo en nombre “Gaur” puso patas arriba la vida cultural de Euskadi. Ha sido para nosotros un verdadero honor que Néstor quisiera hacer algo con nosotros, en este caso una serigrafía suya sobre papel nos animó a hacer una camiseta. Un fuerte abrazo para Néstor, pero también para Jaime Rodríguez Salís, nuestra celestina particular.
Néstor was one of the key figures in “Gaur”, the artistic movement that turned the landscape of Basque culture upside down. Just the fact that Néstor wishes to do something with Loreak is a real honour for us. In this case it was one of his screenprints on paper that gave us the idea of making a T-shirt with it. Big hugs to Néstor, and also to Jaime Rodríguez Salís, who acted as our go-between in this venture.
