EMI Hearts is a voluntary community group, founded and operated by parents. It was established to provide a support group for children and families living with hemiplegia. Hemiplegia is a neurological condition, the effects of which are similar to a stroke. It is caused by damage to the brain and it results in a varying degree of weakness and lack of control on one side of the body. Hemiplegia affects one child in 1000 and comes under the umbrella of Cerebral Palsy. We offer friendship, an ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on and a smile to celebrate achievements. We provide a monthly after school therapeutic play group, allowing access to specialist

health professionals and giving families a chance to get together for a friendly chat and morale support. We also organise parent/carers evenings and family outings. A Local Family’s Firefly Story... Lucy Winter discovered Firefly Photography in 2007. After an initial pregnancy shoot she has returned with her growing family many times to capture precious memories.

Our Gymnastics and Ducklings Learn to S carerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s to be active and healthy with their

Pre-school Gymnastics Our Gymnastic classes help child development by increasing confidence, agility, balance and coordination. There are two classes available as part of the Derby City Council Gymnastics pathway: Walking to 3 years old These classes are a parent participation class where children can explore the soft play and gymnastics equipment. They will learn through play whilst singing songs, dancing and using hand held equipment. Children will build confidence on the equipment whilst learning basic movements which are the building blocks for a wide range of sports. 3 to 5 years old In these themed independent classes children can try handstands, cartwheels, backward rolls, bar beam and vaulting. Ducklings Our Ducklings Learn to Swim classes are for babies and younger children to explore and enjoy the fun of learning to swim. With the help of parent or carer, the Duckling classes will build children’s water confidence using a variety of songs, toys and floating aids. The classes are separated into different age groups, 3 to 18 months, 18 to 36 months and 3 to 5 years. Baby yoga is great for all babies but especially for babies with colic or babies who are struggling to settle. The post natal exercises are a great way of improving fitness, strength and suppleness and maintaining, or developing, a healthy posture. Classes are small so places are limited. ollowing the successful launch of the award winning Baby Sensory programme by Claire Shaw and Vicky Woodings in Derby in 2011, the follow on programme Toddler Sense has now been launched. The Toddler Sense programme has been designed by Baby Sensory founder Dr. Lin Day to create a safe and enjoyable environment in which your toddler can learn through play. The programme builds on skills that your baby has acquired during their first year. The session starts in an exploratory play area which is set out differently each week. Each session is different and the equipment

has been specifically selected to match the theme. This is your chance to share an adventure with your toddler.
