Working out my Bottom Line! The most exercise I get these days as a busy Mum of 2 is the speed walk to & from Pre-School so when Neil from Bottom Line Fitness invited me to experience a Personal Training Session I jumped at the chance (after warming up first of course). Neil & his team emphasise the "personal" side of the title as equally as the training. It is important for him & you to build confidence in your body. He takes time to find out about your habits- exercise, work, food, life style. By finding out what you want to achieve & what you enjoy he can be the trainer you want him to be. As a result my session was a gentle introduction back into exercise & SO enjoyable! The most appealing thing for me was that Neil interspersed controlled exercises with bursts of cardio activities to keep the heart rate up. This meant that I never felt too out of breath, too sweaty (sorry!) or had to worry about collapsing with jelly legs! All
my negatives about exercise were turned to positives; everything felt comfortably paced, he knew just when to boost me up with some fun & just when to rest. Don't get me wrong, I did have to work but for a first session, it didn't feel like HARD work. All that & happily, not a treadmill in sight! So why choose a Personal Trainer over joining a gym? Well, with the only Personal Training Studio in Derby, the one to one attention keeps you motivated, keeps it interesting & keeps it in line with your goals. Even if you don't carry on with your one to one sessions, you have a tailored nutrition plan & exercises to do at home. The important thing is it is personal to you & your lifestyle. As Neil says "My job is to get results in a way that you enjoy". Well I never thought I would actually enjoy exercise but with the motivation to keep going & the personal support behind me, I would almost say it could be EASY!
doing the parties as I always feel a part of it but come home having being paid too Bonus!

Help your little ones feel great!
Lots for Little Minds... Our Children are like sponges at this young age. It is now that we can nurture a love of learning and feed their inquisitive minds...
There once lived a tiny fairy. With a bee’s sting as spindle, she spun the finest threads and was content. But her neighbour, the spider, was not. He spun threads too. Fine though they were, they were not as strong as the fairy’s. He was jealous. “I’m the best spinner!” he said and pounced. The fairy fled. Through grass and past a pool, she met a passing toad. “Help me Toad!” she said, but he would not. She ran on – through hedge and into a field, till she met a mouse. “Help me Mouse!” she said, but he would not. Then Firefly saw her plight. He lifted his lamp, lighting a flower bush. “Jump!” he said. The tired fairy jumped, up into a flower – its blossom closed over her. The spider saw. Angrily he wove his web around the flower, “I’ll catch her in the morning!” But the day passed and another - till at last the flower’s petals fell to the ground. But there was no fairy! The waiting spider turned away in disgust. Where was the fairy? She had crept into the little ball behind the petals. There she had been spinning, in secret, hidden and safe. As the petals fell, the threads she’d spun burst into a soft, snowy white cloud. Ever since those threads have been collected and used for weaving cloth – Cotton! By Sophie Snell. Sophie is a professional storyteller based in Quarndon. She regularly tells stories for all ages at festivals, events, schools and museums across the UK. Lyn Blackman & Michelle Powell are two very special Mums. In 2008 they founded Tidgy Tots, a free group for Special & Additional Needs Children. These sessions held in Newhall & Castle Gresley, Swadlincote have special sensory equipment for children, siblings & parents to relax & enjoy. Visit www.tidgytots.org to find out more. Tidgy Tots recently received an Excellence in the Community Award and now they take on a huge project that needs your support. Lyn & Michelle aim to set up a Special Needs Children's Centre which can be accessed by children up to the age of 18 regardless of the severity of their disability. Puddle Ducks Swimming comes to Derby …Like a Duck to Water ! Cate Woodrow-Smith, a new Puddle Ducks franchisee, is delighted to tell you all about some new baby swimming classes she has recently launched in and around Derbyshire. At Puddle Ducks, we believe that swimming with your baby or young child is an extremely positive and rewarding activity that can even be enjoyed when your baby is as young as just a few weeks old. Coming to a Puddle Ducks class, you can be reassured that you are being taught by a highly qualified teacher who also has training in lifesaving and resuscitation skills for adults, children and babies. We take babies underwater in Puddle Ducks and they learn to kick and propel themselves back up to the surface. It’s a beautiful moment to see your baby with their eyes wide open swimming towards you, waiting to be collected. However there is a serious element to this activity - perhaps it would gain you a few vital seconds if your baby ever fell into a pool?
However, Puddle Ducks is not just about baby swimming. We have a fantastic range of classes for toddlers too, from the nervous absolute beginners to the very confident babies who have swum with us in our baby swimming classes. We build your child’s confidence in a fun, action packed class then we put those skills into practice in our Dippers Class where they really learn to swim. We teach without the use of armbands and by the time our Puddle Ducks are three years old, many can swim several metres on their own. It is never too early to introduce your baby to the joys of being in the water. At Puddle Ducks we offer you the perfect environment to embark on this journey together.
Puddle Ducks baby & toddler swimming classes take place throughout Derby & surrounding areas and you can join us at any age from birth – 4 years.

There is a good structure to the session which gets them curious, messy & proud of their artwork. There are different crafts & messy play every week . From just 2 classes, we are the proud owners of a clay dinosaur, a string painting & a fetching bead Christmas decoration‌ oh & don't worry about the clothes- the children wear the cutest all in one overalls!

The Lewis Mighty Fund was launched in June 2009 to help raise £300,000 so that Lewis Mighty could be given cutting edge cancer treatment in New York. Lewis was diagnosed in October 2008 with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. He has so far endured some of the most intensive cancer treatments available in the UK and has almost exhausted all curative treatments. Despite this Lewis has remained a happy little boy who has extreme determination and inner strength! He has amazed doctors with the way he has tolerated treatment with only minimal side effects. The Fund was set up by a team of financial advisors in Derby and local support has been overwhelming. Local McDonald's restaurants launched The Lewis Mighty Fund wristbands selling them in their restaurants for £1 or via www.shopforlewis.com Lewis has also gained national support from the likes of Amir Khan who proudly ordered his wristbands and sent a picture of him wearing them. Derby County skipper Robbie Savage has also thrown weight behind the fund. Robbie donated To make a donation or to set up your own fundraiser, go to some fabulous prizes to be auctioned off www.lewismightyfund.org including a meal for 6 cooked by him at his house! Recently singer James Text LEWIS5 to 80777 to donate £5 Morrison has also shown support by giving Text LEWIS10 to 80777 to donate £10 Depending on the network, the Lewis Mighty Fund copyright to one of his songs to the fund receives £3.23-£3.37 per £5 except Virgin £2.28 to be used with a promotional video. Arrange Life Insurance, Critical Currently Lewis has a 20% chance of surviving the next 2 years. With treatment in the USA this could increase to 60%. If you think you can help by getting involved please, please contact us today!! www.lewismightyfund.org.uk
