Welcome to Issue 4 of Lots for Tots... Hi, my Name is Nadine & I am your new Editor of Lots for Tots. I live in Allestree with my Husband & two girls aged 3½ (that's her on the front cover!) & 18 months. I have taken over the publication of Lots for Tots from Karen & Lynne who have done an amazing job getting the magazine up, running & well established. I’m very excited to bring you my first edition & I look forward to hearing your feedback, ideas & information to be included in the next issue. Inside, you will find a comprehensive Lots on Weekly guide to clubs & classes in your area– perfect for pulling out & sticking on the fridge. There are yummy treats that you can make with your little ones for Halloween & Christmas. You’ll find a Lots on Local guide to events over the next three months that you and your tots will enjoy. Also, don't forget to visit the brand new website for lots more information :

Night Monkey and Day Monkey's worlds are as different as night and day. When they spend time in each other's opposite worlds, they learn a lot. In laughing at each other's misunderstandings they learn to be the best of friends. Lots for Tots loves Julia Donaldson & we heartily recommend this charming story for your under fives.

Story Corner At the beginning of the world, it was dark. There was no sun, no moon and all the creatures were cold and hungry. The biggest and fiercest of them all was Dragon. He was moaning and groaning – he had a poorly tooth! “Can anyone help?” he asked. Well Crow of the fields came and pulled and pulled but it was no good. “Caw! Caw!” Then Tiger of the jungle pulled and pulled but it was no good. “Roar! Roar!” Then Snake of the desert pulled and pulled but it was still no good. “Hiss! Hiss!” Then came Little Hedgehog. He was spurned by the other animals – he was spiny and prickly. But Dragon didn’t flinch at all. With his delicate paws, Hedgehog climbed in, gently rocked the tooth and out it came! “Oh that’s so better!” said Dragon, and heaved a huge sigh of relief. With that sigh, came a long blast of flame. It shot up into the sky, spinning fast, till at last it found a resting place high over the earth, giving light and warmth to the whole world and all its creatures. And that was how the sun came into being. By Sophie Snell. Sophie is a writer and storyteller based in Quarndon, performing at schools, preschools, museums, libraries and festivals.
