Come along to take part in some FREE fun Autumnal activities! There will be chance to see and handle some exciting animals or try your hand at making a bat or bird box to keep your feathered or furry friends warm over the coming winter months. gently helping new mums to get back in shape. Toni Hibbert Client of Bottom Line Fitness lost 10kgs! After the birth of my twins, I knew I had to do something positive to get back into shape. I decided to give Bottom Line fitness a call, I knew that I didn’t have much time in the week that I called my own and I needed motivation to exercise to a level where I would get results. I found that having an appointment to work to meant that I didn’t postpone my exercise as much as you do when you just join a gym. It also gave me time that was just for me and helped me to lose the baby weight and improve my confidence. As a new Mum, you don’t get much time to think about yourself and it was good to focus on something that was for me, when for the rest of the week the babies took priority over everything. I am really glad that I took time out to do some exercise and I really feel that it has paid off and along with lots of Buggy pushing and rushing around, I feel fit and healthy and able to get back into some work and be a healthier Mum!

At first I was really nervous about the launch of my new Bumps to Twos group. Being a non-profit group, one concern was if it would get enough response to cover the rather high running costs. But Thurs 9th Sept saw all my worries disappear. I had 35 families arrive at 1pm at the Community centre on Boulton Lane in Alvaston, and though my Facebook page, I’ve had some fantastic responses. The first raffle prize that was won, was a beautiful baby memory box, donated by Imogen Croft from Babybox.biz, and the mum that won it was thrilled. The idea for the group came to me during my second pregnancy, I just really wanted to go somewhere that I could meet other mums-to-be, relax

Lots for Little Minds... Little Explorers College Takes Root Derby College is planning to create a brand new day nursery, after school and holiday club at its picturesque Broomfield Hall campus. Little Explorers will be a 54 place nursery, catering for children aged three months to five years and then older children after school and during the holidays. It is due to open in early 2011 – replacing the existing facilities at the College’s Mackworth site. The College nursery will be based in a new purpose-built £400,000 building in the heart of the Broomfield Hall landbased campus which is easily accessible for staff and students based at the other College sites in Derby city, Ilkeston and Heanor and also for local families. Little Explorers will be based on the outdoor nursery model, developed in Scandinavia, where most of the day is spent outside – exploring the natural environment and will be the first in the area to have Forest School status Head of Broomfield Hall Louise Curd explained: “We are very excited about the new Little Explorers nursery at Broomfield Hall which will provide the children with wonderful purpose-built facilities

in a countryside setting to that they can enjoy their surroundings and gain a real appreciation of environmental issues as part of the pre-school curriculum. “The concept for Little Explorers will be to use the outdoors as a classroom. ‘Little Explorers’ Broomfield Hall in Morley This unique nursery is set in the picturesque grounds of the historic hall, will provide high quality care for children aged from 3 months old to 5 years old with clubs running for older children during school holidays.
