Claire Mockridge, an Ante/Postnatal Fitness Expert will be running a Pre/Postnatal Pilates session. Pilates helps relieve tension in your back and loosens up those tight shoulders, tones your abdominals, strengthens your pelvic floor, fixes common postural problems and will leave you feeling 3 inches taller. This year the Bump to Five Show & Lots for Tots are supporting the Isabella Peatfield Memorial Fund, the local charity which raises money for children in Sri Lanka affected by the Boxing Day tsunami in Asia, in memory of five year old Isabella who died whilst on holiday with her parents.

Isabella’s Mummy Kim, and I share a surname and although we aren’t related, I have a daughter the same age as Isabella so I feel a real connection with her and can’t imagine a more fitting charity to support and fund raise for this year.

All monies raised will go directly towards buying a playground at a nursery in Hambantota in the southern area of Sri Lanka.

While entry to the show is free when you pre-register online, we would invite you waive your free entry & donate at the door in support of the Fund. Half of the £2 entry on the day will be donated to the Fund.

There will also be a raffle and the Isabella Fund will be selling its unique, hand made elephant charm bracelets and pink and blue elephant t-shirts at the show.

The Bump to Five show is hoping it will manage to raise £1000 – the amount needed to buy a playground in Sri Lanka, including swings, roundabouts and a slide – which in Sinhalese is called a Slippery Boat! The playground will be installed at a nursery for children under five at 100 feet road, Nawa Maurpura in Hambantota.

The Isabella Fund says its aim is to make a child smile every day and I am so thrilled that with everyone’s help at the show we will have a Lots for Tots play area on the other side of the world.

Kim Peatfield has visited Sri Lanka several times since the tragedy to see their fundraising results first hand.

“Going to school plays a key part in upward mobility for families in poverty in Sri Lanka.

Yet primary schooling can be poor and pre-school facilities, which are not funded by the State, are pretty much unheard of. That’s why we have joined forces with the Hambantota District Early Childhood Development Foundation. We want to help

The Day the Prince of Wales came to Tea An afternoon that the Brown family and their team at Bluebells will never forget. The Prince of Wales joined the Brown family in their kitchen at Brunswood Farm, Spondon Derbyshire for tea and homemade Derbyshire Fruit Loaf.

Rosemary Brown said, “The Prince of Wales was so interested in what we do as a business. He wanted to understand how we managed our business and our objectives for the growth of the Bluebells Real Dairy Ice Cream brand.”

After tea, Geoff and Oliver Brown showed The Prince of Wales chocolate ice cream being made. He then toured the farm, visiting the cow yards and calf shed. Following this Rosemary and Henrietta Brown showed him the stunning displays of homemade cakes and local produce before introducing him to the team working in Bluebells Farm Shop and Café. He asked them about their roles at Bluebells and made everyone feel extremely relaxed.

The final stop was the ice cream cabinet where he discussed ice cream production and flavours in great depth with Oliver Brown. He then asked to try Bluebells Strawberry flavour and the recipe that was developed especially for his visit; Bluebells Bread and Butter Pudding Ice Cream.

Before departing for his next visit in the county, the youngest members of the Brown family; Archie (4) and Elodie (2), presented him with homemade Derbyshire Honey Cake and a basket of Derbyshire produce.

Oliver Brown reflected on the visit; “It really was an amazing afternoon. He showed such genuine interest in what we do at Bluebells. The highlight for me was to see The Prince of Wales enjoying the ice cream that we have made with our own fresh farm milk at Bluebells.”

Ever wished you knew what your baby is thinking? What you might not know is that from around 6 to 9 months they’re able to tell you!

Gesture is a natural part of our language, and by teaching them simple BSL signs, babies and toddlers are able to express their wants and needs, or excitement at seeing the ducks or daddy! Some people worry that signing might delay their child’s speech but in fact, as the word is said clearly at the same time as the sign, signing babies tend to go on to talk earlier and more fluently – a wonderful platform for their future development.

You and your baby can learn baby signing together at TinyTalk classes in Derby and across the East Midlands.

At each class a wonderful mix of singing and signing with props, puppets and instruments galore captivates babies and toddlers from birth to three years and allows you to have fun together. After the singing there are refreshments and playtime – chance to ask questions about all things baby and make lots of new friends.
