A B O U T LOTTA LOV E S M AG A Z I N E Welcome to Whole LOTTA LOVES Magazine! I´m Lotta and I’ve been making this magazine about things that is close to my heart and that I love. Thereof the name LOTTA LOVES. But it’s also a play with the title to the Led Zeppelin song Whole Lotta Love (originally Willie Dixons You Need Love). In this magazine you can read about interior design, clothing style, food, art, travel and much more. I’m a visual being and that is why there are more pictures than text in LOTTA LOVES, hope you f ind some eye candy! I’m not sponsored by any of the companys that I link to. And all photographs are taken

by me except for the shops or websites that I link to in THIS & THAT section. I describe myself as an incurable romantic with a punk heart. And how does that f it together? Isn’t that a contradiction? Maybe. But for me life is both black and white, with a touch of pink! Do you want to know more about me? I’m a photographer and f ilmmaker and at mayalee.se you can read about me and see my work.

ABOUT THIS ISSUE 01 |

I LOVE summer! Especially this summer. I’m having a four week vacation! FOUR WEEKS in a row! Can you believe it? I almost can’t! As a freelancer and wedding photographer & f ilmmaker, my summers have been f illed with work. But this season I have taken a break from weddings and I started working part time at a company as a digital production coordinator, so I can afford to have a longer vacation this summer. This summer I will spend a lot of time in my studio (page 88). Reading books, listening to the radio and maybe I’ll pick up my old hobby to draw and paint. I think that is like mindfulness, I LOVE to get that f low when you forget about time and space. Two years ago me and my family and some friends rented a house in Italy in an old rustic village (page 38). It was almost like to be back in the 1950s with old women sitting outside their houses with their knittings and the old men with their board games. Read all about my LOVE for the artist Frida Kahlo, my biggest inspiration (page 84). Have a lovely summer! ISSUE FOUR | SUMMER

Why did you buy a summer cottage?

What’s your favourite spot in the house?

To have some time with the family and just take care about each other! We love being in nature and Calle loves animals and to be outside with his diy projects. We like to start new small projects and this cottage was so nice, and it was love at f irst sight!

Favorite spot is the kitchen, and the long breakfasts. We never have enough time in our other home in town!

What do you think your cottage (and/or) interior design says about you?

Julita Gård have a museum and a beautiful garden and many old houses. Here you can have a coffee and have a guided tour. A tip is to visit Julita when they have their Apple days. Läppe camping with their beach and Läppe also have a lot of f lea markets. Ica Vingåker supermarket has a lot of great delicacies!

The interior probably say... cozy and snuggly! And very rustic!

Do you have any tips on what to do/see in your neighbourhood?

Your best 3 top interior design tips/ideas?

Interior, for example, you should never change a house to a different style than it is from, for example, 70 to 2018, but try to f ind the style of the house you live in. Never stress anything, live in the house for a while before you decide what changes you will make. I’ve always been weak for white but starting to get more feel for color. Here in the summer house we have taken the most of the furniture and curtains that we already had, so it’s a little bit of everything.

Can you tell me a bit more about the cottage? How old is it? Do you know anything about the history etc? The house dates back to 1912 and belongs to a larger farm. Here you have lived easily and no toilet but an outdoor loo, that we like to think is a bit charming! Jari love to put on the lid and carry it to the recycling! We bought the house from a guy named Thommy who loved to restore the house to its true charm and we have renovated the windows.

Whats your favorite thing to do at your cottage?

Tell me about some renovation or projects that you have been working on at the cottage?

We love just being a family and strolling in the woods, go on a picnic, grow vegetables and build a little fence. We love to invite friends to our cottage and eat some good food and just be! We work so hard in the weekdays so we really like to do nothing!! But we feel good to do things with our hands and that’s our way of relaxing! But of course we have time to read some books too!

We have made new windows and fences, the house was already so nice so we didn’t think it’s was necessary to do so much! We want to put a new panel on the house and build a new vestibule. Perhaps it would be nice with a toilet and shower in the barn before we do all the other things ... the dream is to make a sleeping loft and a sauna in the barn! Whats the next thing to renovate/or do at the cottage? A greenhouse would be the dream! And maybe we could make a cozy corner where we can just chill. A big crayf ish party in the greenhouse with all our wonderful friends without being attacked by the mosquitos! But as I said, I would like to say a new facade and a vestibule! |

TRAVEL TO

LOV E LY I TA LY A morning walk and a visit to Civita di Bagnoregio

LOV E LY I TA LY

I really can’t explain what it is that I love about Italy. But I think it is a combination of the mindset of the people of Italy and that you can feel the breath of history walking the same streets as the ancient Romans. Two years ago we rented an old house in the old village Castel Cellesi with 200 inhabitants, located in the most beautiful area of Tuscia – at the meeting point of Northern Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria (see map on the left). Castel Cellesi have two beautiful piazzas, a parish church, a post off ice, a bar, small food shop and a local pizzeria. Being in the middle of the countryside, just a short walk and you f ind yourself in olive groves and vineyards. It was almost like to be stepping back in time with old women sitting outside their houses with their knittings and the old men with their board games. The road to Castel Cellesi ends here. There is no through road – this means that the world has mostly passed the village by.

I always try to get up really early one of the mornings when I’m on vacation to catch the sunrise with my camera. I like to catch the true essence of the place when there are no other people awake. The calm that comes when you are all alone is hard to beat. But this morning I got my husband and daughter to tag along, this is a moment we will cherish for a long time. We also made day trips to a lot of beautiful places. At Montef iascone we spend the whole day at the beach swimming in the volcanic Bolsena Lake and rented a boat for a couple of hours. Civita di Bagnoregio is known as the “dying town” because of the continuous erosion which over the years has reduced the town centre in size. From the distance Civita di Bagnoregio seems like a ghost town f loating in the air: in fact, it is only connected to the surrounding countryside and to the “New Bagnoregio” by a long foot bridge suspended in the air. Here are a little f ilm I made about our trip to Italy. I always long to return to Italy and I hope that we will soon meet again! “You may have the universe if I may have Italy”

41 |

My love for Italy started a couple of years ago when I visited Venice, you can read all about that in the Autumn issue of Lotta Loves Magazine.

FRIDA IN MY HEART In the 80’s I took a course in art history and this was the f irst time I saw a painting by Frida Kahlo. And the rest as they say, is history… I was immediately touched by her strong imagery and I could feel her anger and pain. I devoured everything I could read about her and her art. I liked everything about her. Her clothes, her eyebrows and her little mustache! For me she was a women I never come across before. How she used her body in her art and how relaxed she looked when she was naked, no shame at all. For me this was a bless! I think about all the body positive accounts on social media these days… Oh what I would have needed them when I was a teenager! But I’m happy that I at least got Frida, the best role model for me when I had no one! Frida has followed me through life, inspiring me in everything from, interior design (see below) and how to deal with both little and big annoyances in life. When I got married a couple of years ago I ordered the wedding dress from Mexico. I had some pink f lowers in my hair as a tribute to Frida. I wear her picture in a necklace around my neck, and she f its perfect in my tattooed heart at my chest. Lotta Loves Frida

When we bought our house 11 years ago it came with an old outhouse that was both a garage and a storage shed. The shed had a wooden panel inside and a low ceiling and small windows. It was warn out and we just used it to store old junk in. Then an idea of a studio starting to take place in my mind. I always wanted a daylight studio and I started to look for large vintage windows and double doors. I tore down the wall between the two rooms and took down the inner ceiling to get more space. I painted the walls and in the largest room I painted the f loor with white and grey squares.

In this studio I have done many portrait sessions, the light is magic! A lot of magazine reportage, like DIY and interior design and product photo shoots has taken place here through the years. At summer I decorate the studio for lazy summer days. This year the color green & pink is the main theme in the studio. Here you can see a little video on how the studio looked last year. This is truly my happy place. I always feel at peace in my studio. I can relax, daydream and the best creative ideas has been born here. Sometimes I spend the night here, especially when it is too hot to sleep in the main house. Every summer we have a crayf ish party with friends, more people than you think f its in the studio!

The table and the kitchen sofa have I inherited from my grandparents.
