A B O U T LOTTA LOV E S M AG A Z I N E Welcome to Whole LOTTA LOVES Magazine! I´m Lotta and I’ve been making this magazine about things that is close to my heart and that I love. Thereof the name LOTTA LOVES. But it’s also a play with the title to the Led Zeppelin song Whole Lotta Love (originally Willie Dixons You Need Love). In this magazine you can read about interior design, clothing style, food, art, travel and much more. I’m a visual being and that is why there are more pictures than text in LOTTA LOVES, hope you f ind some eye candy! I’m not sponsored by any of the companys that I link to. And all photographs are taken

by me except for the shops or websites that I link to in THIS & THAT section. I describe myself as an incurable romantic with a punk heart. And how does that f it together? Isn’t that a contradiction? Maybe. But for me life is both black and white, with a touch of pink! Do you want to know more about me? I’m a photographer and f ilmmaker and at mayalee.se you can read about me and see my work.

ABOUT THIS ISSUE This is the “Done is better than perfect” issue. And what do I mean by that? I set a goal to have this winter issue done in the end of November or in the early December. But the days went pass. I got the f lu, my husband went on a two week business trip, I’ve got a dog and a daughter that need a lot of care and love, my daughter had dance performances and trainings, she are changing school next year so we went to three different schools on open house, I went on a workshop & retreat for 3 days and I started a new job. And my grandfather passed away… It’s called life.

f ine. Don’t have too high expectations on your self or others. It will be a great Christmas any way. And remember; “Done is better than perfect”! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Much of the content in this Winter issue is from the workshop & retreat I visited in December. The talented duo Nathalie and Matilda are the Babes in boyland, and a couple of times a year they are hosting workshops, read more about it here. I had an idea that I should have been baking the Swedish pastry Semla (we eat that in February) for this issue, but I have not the time or the lust for it. So instead I am charing the gingerbread cookie recipe with you. So this few weeks that is left of 2017 I’ll try to take it easy and don’t stress with Christmas gifts, decoration or food, all is going to be

BABES IN BOYLAND

It has been a very tough year for me with a lot of challenging new events. With a new job, my dear grandpas passing and a lot of changes in my private life I immediately signed up for Babes in boylands winter workshop & yoga retreat when I saw it on their instagram @babes_in_boyland. The workshop was held in Glädjens kapell, an old baptist chapel in Tärnsjö, Sweden. With wide wooden planks, space, light, the beautiful dormitory and the nature around the corner, it makes the chapel a unique place where people meet. www.gladjenskapell.se

I felt that I needed to get away and just leave all the troubles and thoughts at home for a while. I decided that I was going to enjoy these three days as much that I could. To create just for fun, no demand from customers on how they wanted my pictures or f ilm to be. I have the greatest customers but sometimes you want to be completely free in what you are creating. At f irst I was a little bit unsure about this part with the yoga… I had never taking a yoga class before but I was very curious at the same time and had wanted to test it for a long time. I was surprise that I was able to do most of the yoga poses with my stiff body, it wasn’t always pretty but I did it! When the f irst yoga class was over we thanked or bodys for all that it is and for all that it´s doing for us, we thanked ourselves and others for making it to be possible for us being there. It moved me very much and I couldn’t have a better yoga teacher than Olivia from Move with ease @movewithease. Thank you Olivia for taking my yoga virginity, you did it with such a gentle and warm feeling, I felt completely safe ;-) We started the mornings with yoga and then breakfast. Ok, so I need just a chapter on the food at this workshop! It was amazing. I have been a vegetarian for over 30 years and always felt that I’m a bit diff icult to invite for parties and other

events. But at the workshop every one got vegan food, and it was sooooo tasty. Lisa was the best! Check her out here @vatalisa We had hands-on workshops and talked for instance of the importance of storytelling, light, living elements, angles and much more. The hands-on workshop consisted of gingerbread baking and food styling, wreath making, table setting and gift wrapping. The workshop exceeded my expectations and it was truly a magical weekend. I made a little f ilm about the workshop, check it out here: Vimeo It was me and a 10 other amazing women that participated at the workshop, check them out here: @villabetula @charlieblom @dromma @littlemisf ix @subterraneo_dk @playwoodstudio @mariasahlander @lindaeliassoncom @emmaathouseofgrey @cirkussiskogen

TRAVEL TO NORWAY

Hei! Eat Anno Restaurant & Bar in an old pharmacy building, great food and wine. The f ish was excellent, and the pizza that my daughter had was yummy. Kabb Restaurant, here we had tapas, it was a lot of food and very tasty.

The thing is… When I traveled to Norway in the end of July I was beaten and tired after shooting weddings all summer. And I thought of my family who ALWAYS sees me with this huge camera in my face ALL THE TIME!

Visit The mountain Aksla with the viewpoints Fjellstua and Kniven is one of Ålesund’s main attractions. From here you have a great view of the city, with a pearl of islands in one direction and the majestic Sunnmøre Alps in the other direction.

So I took this decision to leave my camera at home. As soon as we got in to the valley Romsdal on our way to Ålesund I swore like a f**ing sailor, not out load, just to myself. I refused to take any pictures with my mobile phone because as I said to my family; I was on vacation with them, not with my camera… The high mountains in Romsdal valley was not seen entirely because the fog on the peaks was so heavy. It was so beautiful and melancholic at the same time. Me and my daughter just sat there with our mouths open, and just some oohs & ahhs was heard from us. My husband who has spent almost all his childhood summers in Norway wasn’t so easily impressed. When we arrived in Ålesund I couldn’t help it any more! I took up my phone and took some pictures. I wasn’t so happy with the result because I felt the pictures taken with the phone wasn’t doing the scenery justice. But do you know which the best camera is? The one you have with you. Like a proper travel feature I will give you some tips on where to eat, sleep and what to do in Ålesund. Sleep We stayed at Scandic Parken, we got a room with panorama windows with the view over the harbour. Other nice hotels with stunning views is Radisson Blu Hotel Ålesund and Scandic Ålesund.

Fjellstua has a viewing platform and a cafeteria outdoors in the summertime. Up to Aksla, you can either take the 418 stairs from the Town Park or by car via Borgundveien / Fjelltunveien. The old parts of Ålesund that was rebuilt after a f ire and was built in Art Nouveau style inspired from Europes architects. The Atlantic sea park was really cool with many different species of f ish and sea life that we never seen before. We took the hop on, hop off buss there, a tip is don’t. It is so expensive and the regular buss works just f ine. On the way home we took the road that leads to Geiranger f jord. Winding roads and stunning views, wild and beautiful waterfalls, lush green vegetation and the deep, blue f jord. It was a lot of tourist and very hard to f ind parking spaces at the most popular lookouts as Flydalsjuvet and Ørnesvingen/Eagle Bend. So… Will I have my camera with me the next time I visit Norway? Of course! But I think this was an important experience. I learned a lot about myself, how I react to things when I have nothing to document it with. Much of the time my phone was left behind at the hotel and I was able to feel and register the things I saw with more of my senses, not just with my eyes through a view f inder. Hei da!

Who goes to Norway on a vacation and don’t take their camera with them? WHO!!!?? Ehhhh,me? How stupid can you be? What were you thinking?! I don’t know….

GET IN TO THAT WINTER MOOD

Winter is such a nice season. IF it is snow and/ or cold. I like to be outdoor taking long walks or go cross-country skiing. The best I think with winter time is Christmas, I like to do some crafting with my daughter, sometimes ornaments for the Christmas tree. And don’t forget to drink a lot of hot chocolate, with marshmallows of course! |

65

I always think of the year ahead and I often set goals for the new year. Making plans and I’m always on the lookout for the perfect planner. I have made a list of planners I think you would like. I’m a sucker for stationary and I love to get new pens and note books for my off ice. Shopping isn’t one of my favourite things to do, especially clothes, but I like to shop

local or from small business owners, and I listed some of them for you.

As soon as you step inside Beckmans boutique your heart rate goes down. It is such a warm and cozy feeling in this little store. And a lot of that feeling comes from the fantastic store owner Ulrika.

I LOVE Etsy! I can just sit for hours and and go through the amazing shops. You can f ind everything here, I mean EVERYTHING.

On Tictail you can f ind cool brands that are unique. Clothes and art are two of the things I’ve bought.

LOTTA LOV E S   |   I S S U E T W O   |

Here you can f ind clothing, furnishings and unique vintage items. Beckmans started in 1992 in Strängnäs. Now at a new address in Gula Industrihuset in Stallarholmen, Sweden. There are some more cool shops to visit in the same building as Beckmans, don’t miss Printz bakery, they are outstanding, everything is so tasty!

My favourite shops are the small local shops, handmade things created with love. I even bought my wedding dress at Etsy, do you get my obsession now? I found a friend through Etsy too, I was searching for shops in my hometown and Linda my friend had a little retro shop where she sold old vintage & retro items. I mailed her and we started to cooperate, among other things we did work for different magazine and so on.

Tictail is a social marketplace with new brands from more than 140 countries worldwide. At Tictail you can f ind, follow and connect with brands in our global community and be the f irst to discover the latest trends in fashion, art and interior design. I have my own Tictail store where I sell some Arty Farty Prints & Posters.

To decorate a table for the winter is a treat. Because I love candle lights, and you can´t have to0 many candle light at this time of year, right?! This table that the amazing women at the Babes in boyband workshop created is really beautiful in it’s simplicity. And maybe simplicity is the key word here? They used two big linen table cloth and that makes the impression more softer. Branches of different greenery are a living element that also is adding to the softness. Some simple paper decorations are adding a bit of texture to the table with it´s fan shape.

The brass candle light holders are different in size and style, and so is the wine glasses. It makes the table setting much more interesting. The plates are all the same with some linen napkins. Different type of chairs but in the same color range is also a way of decorating with old and reused items. A candle light chandelier above the table are making it more like a spatial feeling to the space. Decorated with branches from twigs of spruce are a great way to take some of the nature outside in to the room.
