LETTER from the editor “THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD CANNOT BE SEEN OR EVEN TOUCHED, THEY MUST BE FELT WITH THE HEART.” ~HELLEN KELLER erefore, the meaning of “be-you-tiful” is being beautiful by being you. Creating yourself is the first step in this process. Once accomplished, you can finally move on to the second, which is being yourself. Last but not least, you can then express yourself, which is the third step of finally getting "be-you-tiful.” ese are the three ways you will feel happy and successful. When you are “be-you-tiful,” you will understand your meaning in life. Everyone wants to leave a positive impact on this world in his or her own special way. Being “be-you-tiful” will help you accomplish your purpose in life. is is because, by being you, you will leave one of the best and most beautiful marks on people’s hearts. You will affect other’s lives in ways no one else could since there is no one like you. Moreover, everyone is unique and different in his or her own way. For that reason, try to learn something from each person you meet. Good or bad, this will make you a wiser person everyday. Make every moment worth remembering. Do this by living to the fullest and impacting the lives of others for the better. is will leave a great mark the world would have never had if it wasn’t for you.

PHOTOGRAPHY BY EDWARD GORDEEV

ree adjectives describing Edward Gordeev? PURPOSEFUL, SELF-ORGANIZED, CURIOUS.
06/07
Who would you be and what would you do, if in your life there was not the photography? PHOTOGRAPHY IS MY FAVORITE HOBBY. IT IS EMOTIONAL AND INTELLECTUAL WORK. IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SEE AND SHOW BEAUTIFUL PLOTS AND PLACES, TO COMMUNICATE WITH INTERESTING AND TALENTED PEOPLE. LIFE WITHOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHY WOULD BE LESS SATURATED AND INTERESTING.
Your photographic works reveal a 'harmony between particular technical features and concept art; tell us about your poetry and your vision of photography: construction, illusion or reality? FIRST OF ALL, I TRY TO TAKE INTERESTING PICTURES THAT CONTAINS SOMETHING UNUSUAL THAT ATTRACTS ATTENTION. WHETHER IT IS REFLECTION, RAIN OR SUNRISE. IT IS IMPORTANT, BECAUSE WITHOUT THIS FACTORS PHOTO TURNS INTO STATIC, UNINTERESTING IMAGE.

Barcelona What were the most important moments of your artistic experience, the biggest success and the toughest defeat if any? I SUPPOSE MY BIGGEST SUCCESS IS FOREHEAD. SERIOUSLY, THE BIGGEST SUCCESS FOR ME IS TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO SOMETHING I LOVE AND TO REALIZE THAT PEOPLE LIKE MY WORKS. WHAT ABOUT DEFEAT.. IT IS SIMPLER. I AM TALKING ABOUT WEATHER. IT IS ALWAYS NOT ON PHOTOGRAPHER’S SIDE.

Edward, in your opinion what is the best method to recognize the qualities of a photographer? A GOOD OBSERVATION CAPACITY IS THE BEST METHOD. ALSO, THERE CAN BE HARD WORK AND PATIENCE. AND OF COURSE EVERYBODY NEED TO IMPROVE HIS SKILLS.
16/17
Which equipment do you use taking your images? How did you started? Analog or digital? I USED TO USE ANALOGS, BUT NOW I USE DIGITAL CAMERA. I TAKE PHOTOS WITH NIKON D610, AND STANDARD LENS NIKON 16–35 MM F/4 G ED AF-S VR. THERE IS A WIDE RANGE OF LENS, BUT I USE, IN PARTICULAR, 16-35 MM.

What is the main diямАerence in shoting in BW and Color? I PREFER SHOOTING IN COLOR. I TAKE PICTURES IN STYLE THAT NEEDS PLENTY OF COLORS. AT THE SAME TIME, RANGE OF MY PICTURES IS TAKEN IN BW. IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT PICTURE ITSELF CAN BE BETTER IN COLOR OR IN BW. THUS, SOME ORDINARY AND UNATTRACTIVE PICTURE CAN BECOME A MASTERPIECE IN BW AND SOMETIMES AN AMAZING COLORFUL PHOTO CAN LOOK ABSOLUTELY UN ATTRACTIVE IN BW. FOR EXAMPLE, A PHOTO OF SUNSET CAN BE ABSOLUTELY UNINTERESTING IN BW. SUNSET IS ALWAYS COLORFUL. WHIMS OF CLOUDS CAN BRIGHTEN UP A PICTURE, BUT STILL IT IS NOT A SUNSET.

How do you feel about working in Magazine projects or Conceptional Editorial stuямА? POSITIVELY. I CONSIDERED IT TO BE INTERESTING AND CREATIVE WORK.
In your opinion what is the best thing and the worst thing being a photographer? THE BEST TIME FOR A PHOTOGRAPHER IS WHEN THE LIGHT IS NATURAL AND DEFUSED. NO MATTER IF IT IS SUNSET OR SUNRISE. FOR ME, ALSO, IT IS RAIN. THE MOST OPTIMAL COMBINATION IS WHEN IT IS RAINING DURING SUNRISE. BUT IT REFERS ONLY TO A CITY. TAKING PICTURES OUTDOORS IS BETTER WITHOUT RAIN. WHAT ABOUT THE WORST TIME, IT IS WHEN TAKING PICTURES BECOMES UNINTERESTING. I MEAN, WHEN THERE IS NO LIGHT AND SHADES. BUT STILL, THERE IS ONE WORSE THING IT IS WHEN THERE IS AN AMAZING PLOT, BUT I HAVE NOT BROUGHT MY EQUIPMENT.

Poetry District AnnA h. lucy kAzmierczAk Émotion privée when we shared this silent moment of repressed lust and limited closeness well protected by the barbed fence painstakingly built over the years by ruthless time and fate we knew better than anyone else that embracing silence was all we would ever get and all we would ever have under my eyelids i’m secretly yearning for a delicate touch and gentle kiss i watch your so and elastic heart growing brave unbreakable and filled to the brim with silent grief you know that back then i only had one wish to see our hearts claim their rightful throne and rule something that i could see blossoming and cherish if only i belived in us and wasn’t such a fool overwhelmed by the most private emotion so rare and until now unavailable but listening from this strangely unavoidable distance to our hearts and our breath

we watch our bodies communicating speaking happy to be lost in the game that fills our desire and that was all we’ve ever been seeking and all that our souls dreamed of and aspired so when at last that silent moment ended you stood up and kissed my cheek saying in a rush “i guess that’s all” then waited with me for a little while til the vulpine time dried out my wet hair my wet eyes – hoping secretly that my mouth will refuse to be a closed sesame a church hall but how i wish this was all a lie to me just a white lie that our heart is really something we can command control that it is alright to be rendered sleepless breathless how i wish this had all deceived me now that my life has made me restless now that i am just a prisoner here, of my own device why can’t i just believe blindly that the best things always come back and tend to happen twice

What are your CrIterIa For the seleCtIon oF artIsts In CorrIDor elePhant? ere is not real criterion. We are making choices as a group of five; if sometimes there is a doubt, we vote. We edit as much the book of a photographer working with iPhone, as that of Winnie Denker who works in the darkroom for more than 40 years.
Do you thInk »PrInt Is DeaD«? No, Print isn’t dead. Why should it die? Why should they think of it? Digital changed our way of taking a picture, of thinking of it, of working on it, of showing it, but nothing replaces.
Le numérique est un média supplémentaire plus facile d’utilisation.
Digital is an easier additional media of use.

»THE SAME WAY«

A look from the past is reflected in the pre-
of family that lived took the easy way out she
sent Lupita Marroquin that spreads to her
went to live with Ramon Gonzalez, dad of
children, she has had a hard life. Suffers
her 4 children. Sunk in alcohol addiction
from pulmonary fibrosis for 13 years, he
Ramón beat her and abused their children,
works only 25% of the lung, is 36 and weighs 25 kilos. His childhood was marred by inter-
the little money they had spent it on beer, any opportunity to leave the house to go for
‐family violence and to escape the problem
it was much better to face the problems
Originally from Cd.Victoria, Tamaulipas, I have 28 years and am of the lucky ones from small knew what they would do great No, but at the moment I took my first camera, preowned, I felt like that boy who discovers a passion that governs his life. How much in life found in practice the experience he needed, but one day was not enough and began reading and studying on my own theory I needed to consolidate my knowledge. It was so understood that photography had given my life direction and direction but mostly a form of communication that transcended, in me and in others a unique way with frozen moments; but alive, with each of the stories, feelings and experiences that accompany my portraits. So it was that the world conspired next to me and took me to work in public and private companies. But it was not until I was the photographer private Governor of Tamaulipas my job as a photographer was consolidated, giving me the opportunity to fulfill myself professionally in 2012. I continued for a while with the policy, and then I had my own studio for a year, a short time that I realized that the picture moved me was to small moments and moments that perpetuated emotions and experiences. So I undertook a tour of some states marveling Republic of culture, people, colors, traditions, cuisine and their stories so I began to portray what had marveled me. ere I came face to face with the beauty of documentary photography.
began to suffer Lupita. Now it takes more than two years without taking a drop of alcohol. e first of his four children call him by the name »Tilico« is a 16 year old boy with aspirations to play soccer in the big leagues and be famous, studied high school and is the quietest of 4. He is happy in fut bol fields. »Smoke« is the nickname of Hugo, the second, suffering from bronchial asthma and slow learning, not study, but it is the hardest worker of all, he is to collect scrap iron and then sell it and helps his father in masonry work performed. Never in the house he spends working to help her family with the expenses. It is the least concerned that Lupita is coming out ahead in some other way. Sadrash is the third boy had seizures and the Pope came running to take him to hospital and Lupita behind it, is the most rebellious of all, never obeys his parents. He is 14 years old. e last and smallest is called Tadeo better known as »Cheche« has a brain tumor and needs an operation to remove it. And you can play and have a normal childhood like any healthy child is 7 years, since his illness can not do many things like play ball for fear of being hit in the head. e health of Lupita is very expensive and the salary of Ramon as a bricklayer is not enough to cover medical expenses Lupita and addeus, all tests and analyzes beyond the basic needs of the family. Poverty in this country is one of the evils that bring down us every day

with 78% of Mexicans living in poverty, as well as the lack of campaigns for family planning and health care for low-income people living in this poverty by their income level, ie 93.5 million people, the percentage highest since 1998, when I came to 80.7 percent, according to a study by Julio Boltvinik and Araceli Damian, researchers college Mexico (Colmex). According to experts, the poverty figure increases considerably if you include the need of dissatisfied commodities (NBI), which includes items such as gas, electricity, housing and education in measuring poverty. Added to this Lupita you have to do medical expenses for her and her youngest child, so can not aord to live. us, an integrated poverty measure would increase the

number of poor in Mexico to 100.7 million, the highest on record have be obtained. e figures presented show a further result, the national middle class fell from 2012 to 2014 at 1.36 percent, thus only 6.78 percent of the population would be at this stage, while in 2012 amounted to 8.14 percent. By contrast the percentage of Mexicans living in extreme poverty reached 56.48 percent of the population, ie, increased by 2.43 percent since in 2012 was at 54.05 percent. Medical malpractice is another very important issue because some doctors like Dr. Gerardo Rodriguez, who works in the General Hospital whose resolution given to Lupita Marroquin, four years ago, was in his words »ere’s nothing to do, make it God wants« ese people who

are just looking to spend the day in order to collect, without really caring about his patients can not be called doctor. is type of medical malpractice not to seek all possible means to improve the health of a person who is in a critical situation with 4 children and a family that wants to move forward with a huge desire to live. is want it to be a story of inspiration for all those Mexicans who like Lupita are having a hard both economic and health times. e Mexican government is not doing a good job to produce more jobs. e figures of poverty and extreme poverty are increasing, we must add to that the lack of awareness campaigns and family planning. ese pictures are a reflection of a family in a million in this country, as a photographer told Henri Cartier-‐Bresson »My method of work is essential in this respect, which is also a respect for reality: no noise, no personal ostenaciones , be as
invisible »as possible, not« prepare »nothing« fix »anything, just being there« I do anything I snap inferi family, dramatic lighting that sought to explain my photos right through the difficulty in Lupita’s daily life. My photographic angles open on different levels, from an almost completely chopped against chopped, it reflects the fragility of life, as Lupita to be a person with high aspirations, from one day to another he came down and now the world can not assert itself, texture details in the wide shots and close up, is a caracteriztica marks the battle day by day pound this family. Oxygen tanks that you see in the picture where lupita this lying alongside Tadeo in bed, and boxes of food complementation making the desolate open room, but with a very strong faith, are gestures of people who help this family with what they can, because Lupita hoping to have a transplant will die to the last lung.
