Idea 1 Depression: to show that depression is an illness and to make audience question wether depression is a real illness and is there enough being done to help the people suffereing with depression.

Comic Book Design showing depression. Photos and Photo book of body art showing depression. Graffiti art showing depression

Idea 2 Feminism: to show the difference between feminism now and then, and how that trends now and what women do in our day and age to fight it, and wether there really is a real problem in society with gender equality.

Posters Video

Idea 3 Animation video: body making machine, if we were all perfection no one would be perfection. the odd one which isnt perfect put in the trash, then stopping all the body images in trash and having them become perfection.

Body image: all the pressure we put on each other for the perfect body and the perfect facial features, what is perfection, what used to be perfection? should this matter and should there be so much pressure?

Idea 4

Cyber bullying, troling: what are the harms of the cyber bully, how people can say things online and no one would know who they are and they wouldnt necessarily say what they say online when in person.

Rotoscope, Zenoscope about boy looking at screens and mobiles going off crying and then going to commit suicide, stop message.

Idea 5 Internet privacy: is anyone safe on the internet, is there information safe, the use of social networking can be used by bad people to find out vital information about you or members of your family and friends, like the location of where you are at a specific time.

photoshopped photos turned into stickers and things to put around city. image of a group of people with crosses and lines as eyes and then words on mouths, tapes over mouths with word/ phrase on it.

Idea 6

Technology takes over the world and conversation: are we getting manipulated by technology completely, do we miss out on the finer things in life because of the distraction of technology? Is social networking overtaking the norm of face to face conversation.

Idea 7 Education Robots: is the education system restricting kids abilities, stick to the curriculum and no allowance for kids to branch out. No real education of the real world no finance education. Sort of comic strip hand drawn style poster or story board, to put into newspaper or magazine.

Idea 8 Global citizen global goals. to promote and show this important conversation from the new global goals campaign to improve the world for the better. these goals are shown on the right.

I could promote this campaign by creating advertising posters/stickers/leaflets and billboards.

Experimental Photos I produced these photos by using a compact camera and using a model which allowed me to paint with black and white body paint onto their body. i used the paints to produce different shapes onto the body and i used contouring on the body and face to accentuate the models features and to also over exaggerate them and i used the paint around his eyes to make them look dark and tred to infer depression takes its toll on the body of the victim of depression. therefore showing it is an illness.

Edited Photos: Depression showed on victim.

These images were produced by using original image taken.

These are more edited photos. These ones are more layered.

The layers include threshold levels, the original image, the body paint, and an extra layer of a grey solid with rubbed out bits to create lighting effect.

Above there is a complete sold layer ontop of original image with a threshold layer to create this cartoon like image but with realistic features.

Hashtag Idea and Development This idea came to me while producing other development work and while socialising with my friends on social media. It is the idea of the hashtag being a new to communicate and im taking the mic of the people who actually use it as they hashtag everything and anything so id printo out hashtag stickers and stick them everywhere and take pictures. I would then put these pictures on to social media sites and then

they would be shared hopefully and my hashtag communication concept would be spread over the internet. I also had an idea of producing my own typography and putting it with the sticker but this would take a lot of time and money to print the word as well as a hashtag as a sticker. so i thought about editing the photos and placing my own typography on the pictures.

Body Image Idea this idea was to create a video to show the problems of pressure on body image and being perfect. The development shows the illustrator files i created from scratch to put onto my video i am making forthis idea which are cool and simple shapes . The ones i have created are humans and a machine and a trash can ans a “body making machine, a claw, a woman and 3 different versions of man and woman. Also i produced the fat and thin women and men so that iit shows the so called imperfection.

Body Image I have made bodies for the video including thin and fat and “perfect bodies. they are part of the video i am creating.

My final outcome and the reasons why i chose this. For the body image idea that animation wasnt looking as good as it could do but i dont really have the skills to make it look as good as it should do. My favourite idea is the depression book so this will e my final outcome.

Final Outcome This is some of the finished book pages but it is on my issuu page follow this link https://issuu.com/louisefielding

YCN brief 2015/2016 The Orchard Pig Campaign Louise Fielding Research and Develeopment Document

Initial Research

Brief Information Orchard Pig we believe it is the only ‘craft beer’ like cider in the market today (craft liquid credentials, modern positioning and tone of voice) – this needs to be amplified in an integrated campaign across Communications, Packaging, Point of Pour, Point of Sale and Innovation.

Key Words and Phrases Bold, Mischievous, Inclusive, Rooted in Somerset CIDER MISCHEVIOUS A catalyst for more fun SIMPLE Simple brand and simple product INCLUSIVE For anyone and everyone “Stay rooted” is what we say to the world. We appreciate simplicity…and cider. We like to poke fun at the world and ourselves… and each other. We are ALL about the cider…

Opponents/Competion Ths is to show what other cider families look like and what there bottle range is, they are very different compared to the orchard pig. These are sort of like

Point of Pour I looked at the point of pour from other brands to see what other ciders have to identify there own brand. This allows me to see what i have to work with compared to what alreadybig cider companys have on

the market. I want my design to stick out so it is well remembered and even more so then the more established brands.

Mood Boards

Outcomes Posters to go on buses and on billboards simple so people can look at them and be able to understand it quickly becaus of moving traffic. Slogan and layered apple cut outs of pig and somerset with logo stamped on top. Or cider with apple pig in it and slogan. Leaflet with a sort of storyboard inside of story of the orchard pig in the same style as video. Leaflet on different tasting ciders of the brad Packaging for bottles and crates, layered apple effect with slogan.

Video using logo pig flying over orchard giving cider to people of somerset and then ending with bum and pig tail turning into a pig tail point of pour alll the while everything else fades out or solid colour rollr con and big flies in and the bum and tail comes into view. Layered roll on effect on the landscape with textures. the pig is going to stay black throught animation and then at the end the logo for the orchard pig will show up.

New badges for each type of cider in same sort of style with pig as the focus point and then use the same colours as original but updating the design to fit with the posters and video.

Artist Research McCann Vilnius i love these peces of work because they show simple ideas that are very effective. On the move the city poster i love the way the different layers have been created out of something solid and then stuck onto the bike chain and used photography to capture it together. it shows layers of the city and the two smaller images demonstrats the the small amount of humour i want to portray through this campaign to demonstrate the fun factor of the company.

Development

I created and produced these 3D templates to show the type of look i wanted in my head to represent the “hand-crafted like beer the orchard pig company were so keen to be portrayed through the designs and so i used this concept to produce some things that wuld go on a poster or badge for the cider such as an apple, a pig and an orchard tree.

I think these would be better painted black, greann and red and i chamged the tree to match the other two objects better. I thought the colour would make it more attractive to the eye.

Here i wanted to show the colours of the different types of cider the orchard pig sell, i also put a texture behind to make it more “craft like” so im re-ittarating the fact the company wanted to emphasise this concept. It also gives me a clear thought about the colours that i will be using throughout my project as i dont want to change the whole thing so it is not recogniasable from what it already is. At the top of this page i have chosen to do a few layouts of initial poster ideas with the original 3D work as i wanted to experiment to see what it would look

like against one of the already existing colours as a backgrpund with the texture to build layers. I intially thought of patterns with the pig to make it stick it in your mind as there is many and its repeated its hard to forget. Then i thought of having a pigs head and a pigs bum on seperately as a littlebit of comic factor to the mix. I then moved onto using the new improved 3D figures i created to produce poster layouts. I messsed around with the layout of these things and the repeats of these

objects on the page. I also used there typr for the words, “the orchard pig” to makee the type noticeable and bod. I thought about creating a world for the big on an apple which references back to one of my artists i looked at.. However i decided against the idea and decided to go back to layouts with the objects. I then thought about bringing the bottle of beer in but that didnt look right so this experiment put me off that idea.

I then experimented with this idea and used this to crete the badges for the point of pour.

I played with the layout of the objects and used the circle as a guideline for the badge as i thought this was most appropriate.

I used the colours from the original badges as they are the colours for each different taste of cider, as my badge background.

I settled with the centred tree and pig and I then tried bringing in some type, i tried a few and decided this looked nice with my style of my work.

This page shows all the badges together as a finished design. i like it as it is bold and looks layered which is what i wanted.

On the next page i explore the use of these badges on the bottles as a label.

Idea 2 My second idea is to be a bit daring and cheeky and have the pig be a little cheeky nd be winking and to have ts bum face the audience to make it seem like its more important then them and so the implies the notorious pig concept. Also i wanted to produce this peg as cheeky because its bold and mischievious which are two key words named in the orchard pig brief.

This is the start of my second idea. Here i have the new and improved badges i have created for the second project as finished designs i have kept the colours and textures the same but i have designed a winking pig with a cheeky smile. To really grasp the audiences attention and cheeky side, almost the pig is saying “go on have a cheeky pint on me. I used the original logo in this design as the company liked it the way it was but i have just made it as though it is a stamp on the pigs bum such as a brand or ownership sign. I thought

this was quite a clever idea as the pig is branded as the orchard pig. This showcases the brand.

pig, rooted in somerset and the taste of the cider such as the maveric.

I wanted to keep my design simple so it was all about the notorious pig. So i didnt want to overcrowd the winking pig and plus it is more memorable if there is less to look at. So i decided the type should be added and it should fit with the style of writing of the orchard pig logo title typeface. This is the reson i chose the typeface i did, and i used this to spell out the orchard

I then went onto use the point of pour i created before and just replace the old badge with the new badge and this i thought looked much better then my first idea and i preferred the cheekiness of the idea too, i think it gives the design that little bit extra.

Ithen decided to change the colour of each pig to the colour of each ytpe of cider taste. This is so it is transferred onto the bottle for the label. On next page this is transferred onto the bottles.

A Little Summary

Here is the finished designs for the project showing the point of pour, the point of pour badges, the labels for the bottles, the posters and finallymock ups on billboards and magazines. this shows all the designs but i will show the full collection of finished designs together. I feel like ive been working reallly hard on this project and i have explored different ideas and concepts on this. As this is a campaign i am going to attempt to do an animation a sort of story/advert sort of video to tell the story of how the Orchard Pig came about and the idea behind it, and hopefully making it a little funny and cheeky to suit the companys new modern style.

FINAL DESIGNS This is just to show clearly which are final designs and which ones i like the best and i also asked some peers to see which ones they liked best and they chose these too. I enjoyed this project and think i have come up with a good outcome which i really like and im happy with it. Obviously a project can never really be finished because you can keep re creating the designs but this is the end of mine. however i still have some develpment for the animation i have produced and i will have a link to the video in the development work.

Animation This is where i show some development work towards my idea of creatting this short animation for the campaighn of the orchard pig.

Here are some screenshoys of the video i have created i changed my ideas on this quite a lot.I wanted a winking pig, a flying pig, a pig the would wee and that would be the cider. i also wanted to show the story of

how the orchard pig came about and this was essential to the orchard pig company. Inn the aniimation i show all the flavours that they have produced and i show their own logo at the end to finfsh the animation. I also

have a winking pig which i think brings out the bold and cheeky side out of this company. it is also more fun and more memorable.

I wanted to just show the process of how i created this video by showing screenhots of the animation windows in after effects.

Stefan Sagmeister (born August 6, 1962) is a New York-based graphic designer and typographer. Sagmeister co-founded a design firm called Sagmeister & Walsh Inc, with Jessica Walsh in New York City. He has designed album covers for Lou Reed, OK Go, The Rolling Stones, David Byrne, Jay Z, Aerosmith and Pat Metheny. 4

I decided to look at Stefan Sagmeisters work because it appealed to me and i went to the library in the university and searched on summon for a book and i found a book of his work and it shows a few pieces he has created. I wanted to do some background research on this paticular designer as his work is inspirational and also the layout of his work is great.

I then looked at his happy show exhibition which has a lot of work that relates to the brief.

One of the largest exhibitions in MOV’s 120-year history, this astonishing experience transcends the boundary between art and design. It takes over museum galleries and in-between spaces-stairwells, hallways, and restrooms-in order to ask: what makes us happy? Sagmeister, who has documented his struggles with alcohol and drugs, weight gain, and depression, first conceptualized The Happy Show in an attempt to define and control his own happiness during a client-free sabbatical—a year-long break he takes every seven years to creatively recharge. The final display is the result of 10 years of research into his own personal happiness.

Audiences will also enjoy a preview of Sagmeister’s soon-tobe-released documentary, The Happy Film, which depicts his attempts to increase his happiness through meditation, cognitive therapy, and mood-altering pharmaceuticals.

MOV will engage visitors in a diverse array of public activities that extend The Happy Show into the community. Programs include a public symposium on ideas for happier communities led by one of the world’s foremost experts on the subject, University of British Columbia Confronted with stories about wellness, mindfulness, and Professor John Helliwell; a series of Happy Hours that will sexuality, viewers will be immersed in an experience akin to encourage Vancouverites to meet each other and inspire happiness through interaction; and a series of guerilla walking into Sagmeister’s mind. street interventions that invite social connection. Development of practical outcome

This is were i will show the thought process of what i have thought about in my head and what the order each sketch will be and how they will link into each other and how they will become a finished piece. im hoping to incorporate somehumour within the images i draw so it makes people happy not just describing happy events which have happened or that could happen in the future. There will be a rough sketch of my thought process of the sequence, then the rough drawings in sketchbook of each frame of each happy event and future event. then i might experiment by

drawing on my wacomb tablet to the computer and this could be used for the animation i want to produce.

31

These tow photographs of my sketchbook shows some quick sketches as i went through a thought process of what my drawing for my final projecct will look like as i drew little sketches of what ech frame would be and the order inwhich these frames would appear. I am going to draw each frame properly in my book and ths will be able to go on the wall of the exhibition.

14

I started to sketch ideas in my head for a wall mural, i looked on the internet for some inspiration such as pinterest to get me in the mood of rawing. And i produced this quick sketch which was a starting point for themural i know i wanted these elements in my work but i thought drawing will take a lot of time to produce this and upscale it. So i made the decision to go into illustrator and start to

use the pen tool to re draw these elements this woud make for a neater line and also easier for me to colour if i anted to use colour and if i wanted to move things around.

51

Here shows the first Drawing of the mural taking shape as i started on illustrator evrythimg just fell into place i drew each component and placed them where i thought looked appropriate and it turned out like this. i am very happy with the arrangement and how it looks. this is what i was aiming for.

16

I then started to add some black into the picture to experiment with a sort of colour palette, i think the black made it more striking but i think the colour would make it even more striking and more exciting to look at and also more colours woud mean a more sort of crazy feeling which would relate to the collide brief through.

71

Above shows the wall mural in a black and white colour but the with one colour added which is the deep red, i used the different shades of red to make it look more 3D like. i really like it but i still think having other colours would improve it. i liked using the different shades though i think this improved it from the black and white version.

18

On this page i started to experiment with using lots of different colours. It took a lot of time to colour the mural in and what colours looked best where. I also experimented with the thickness of all the lines to see if i could make each object stand out from each other a little more. The top picture shows experimentation with colour, the picture to the left shows more experimentation of colour and experimentation of the line thickness.

Practical Outcomes

This is where ill show the final pieces for the physical outcome that i have produced for this project. This piece will go in the exhibition and hopefully will look great.

12

Final Physical Outcome I finished experimening with colour and shading and line thickness and this is the finished wall mural. I ended up adding more drawings and elements into the work. On the next few pages it shows close ups into the mural and i love this look too so it gave me a few ideas which i could do into the exhibition.

Final Designs

The mural gave me ideas of creating the mural for the wall and then the close ups on canvas, and also it could be used as a design for a tea set as everybody loves tea and it could be used in the exhibition to be used asmerchandise or to be used as mugs for the guests. at the top is an example of how the cup and saucers would look like and to the right, it shows the place mats dor the cup and saucers to sit on. I thought it would be a cool idea to just further project.
