ALL OF THE LIGHTS The walls and windows of exhibitions and retail environments are lit up with neon signs. Channelling the look of the bright lights in times square. The lights create interesting visuals and work well to promote products/ launches in-store. They attract your attention and never go unnoticed. A key theme in this trend is bright colour and quirky typography. Hash tags are also used for digital & social media elements.

ART ON THE STREETS The streets of Williamsburg, Brooklyn were decorated with exciting, inspirational street art that added colour and character to the streets. A contrast with the dull surroundings.

WHILST SOME CALL IT VANDILISM OTHERS CALL IT ART Street art gained popularity during the graffti art boom of the early 1980s and remains popular nowadays. Street artists communicate directly with the public expressing themselves through image. ART FROM STREET TO SHOP This trend from the streets has bubbled up to brands now using it as a fesh new idea. Graffti and street inspired installations can be seen inside retail envirnments, exhibition spaces, on products, packaging and in window displays. Brands are being expressive and youthful with this trend, whilst creating something fun and exciting. A youthful trend that is fun and fashion following but also has a sports element to it. Colour is a key theme in the trend along with branded stickers. MAN ABOUT TOWN More innovative streetart showcased stencils and paintings of male faces around Williamsburg. I liked the idea of these making bold, mysterious statements on the street. Contrast of colour and media on different textures work to create an interesting image.

COLOURFUL WALLS Bright fun decor and a rainbow colour palette proves to be a key trend to attract customers. The walls of Denim Ralph Lauren brightened up the street of Soho. Pattern, colour and texture create a playful mood and give fun vibes not to mention the upbeat atmosphere that was created inside the store with music and sweet smell.

CONVERSE STORE New innovative ideas using the products to create statements. Feature walls are a key trend instores, American Flag made from Converses, Converse tied to walls with customers names written on.

NIKE STORE Nike trainers launched with running machine so they can be tested instore to engage customer. Illustrated walls instore create an upbeat playful vibe.

ILLUSTRATION Illustration was a key emerging trend covering shops and in windows launching products. Illustrations work well to create something interesting and appealing. I particularly found the Diesel shop inspiring with their spin on an illustration that has been carved into the outside wall of their store.
