Deylin Hasert is a Guard and Center in The Class of 2022 for Marshall High School in Marshall, Minnesota. Hasert has a college ready build standing in at 6’5” and 290 lbs., he uses his size to bully opposing defenses and leave them hopeless. He combines this great size with incredible strength and bulldozes any defensive player who comes his way. In his film he is sometimes seen blocking 2 defenders at once, he is literally a one-man double team. His success doesn’t end on the football field, he is also great in the classroom, posting a 3.3 GPA. With all his talent and another year of high school football ahead of him, we are excited to see what Delyin Hasert has in store. When did you start playing football and why? My first time playing was flag football in third grade, I didn’t really like it initially, I preferred baseball. I didn’t even really enjoy football until 7th or 8th Grade, but after that I’ve been in love with the game. Favorite moment of your career so far? At a team camp we won the Jackrabbit competition, and it really got our team hyped up for the season.

Do you play any sports outside of football, and if so, what do you think

they add to your game? I played basketball for 6-7 years, it really helped with my footwork and conditioning, it also helped me gain a strong love for competition. Going into your Senior season, what are you looking forward to? Just getting the opportunity to compete again, there is a lot of good things that happened this year and there will be so many more opportunities next year. Do you have a quote that you stick by? “Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard”

What do you think a college would get out of you as a player? They would get someone who is humble but is also a good, fun, player with a big personality. I love messing around with my coaches and teammates but when I get on the field, I give my 100%. What motivates you to get up and train every day? My mom sisters and grandma, I like showing my sisters that they can achieve anything with hard work.

What do you think makes you a good teammate? I get on my teammates in the weight room and check up on all of them. I want the best out of all my teammates, so I push them and help them to get better. What do you think sets you apart from other athletes? A lot of athletes chase to make money but for me it’s not about making the NFL, I just want to be the best player that I can be and achieve the goals that I set for myself. What do you think the best part of your game is? My blocking, it sets me apart from most players. Favorite part about playing on the offensive line? The offensive line is just such a tight knit group of guys, we are like a family. If one of us is down, you best believe that there are at least 4 of us there to help him back up. Do you have a favorite play to run? We have a power play where we pull and that’s probably my favorite.

I see you often pancake the guy in front of you, what are some techniques

you use to do this? Learning the leverage and angle, I think that footwork is super important along with the ability to use your hands. What are some advantages you think you gain with your size? I think in high school, not many kids are my size, so it helps me move guys and create holes. Sometimes I can block 1 or 2 guys and create a hole for my offense to get through. Do you take pride in protecting your qb? Yeah, I do, I think it’s one of the best jobs on the field, I wouldn’t change it for anything.
