PRIORITIES AT THE TIME OF CORONA The exceptional days we are witnessing nowadays after the spread of the Novel Coronavirus AKA Covid 19, changed our lives 180 degrees. The whole world became different and I am sure we as individuals will never be the same after this crisis. Surviving and doing our best to stay alive is one of our basic instincts. Human beings survived and prevailed in worse circumstances and witnessed worse incidents all through history; be it World War I and II, which resulted in the death of 85 million people, which was 3% of the 1940 world population. The Plague, a deadly disease in the Middle Ages, was terrible and resulted in a huge number of deaths as well as Cholera. However, the world didn’t witness such crisis in our modern age, after technology took over, luxury and obsession with brands, lifestyle and the materialistic life swallowed a lot of people and detached them from their humanity and changed a lot of the priorities. We all need to stop and think about this pandemic, and how it changed our perspective of seeing things; suddenly the latest car you bought and worked day and night to pay its installment is parking in front of your house and the dust is getting thicker and thicker on it every

day. The Dior bag you deprived yourself of spending quality time with your kids to work extra hours, and be able to get is still with its tag lying in your wardrobe and there are no outings to brag about with it! The Sahel Chalet is locked for this summer and God knows if we will be able to see the beach any time soon. Maybe we need to stop and think about what really matters and what really deserves our time and energy. I am sure after this pandemic we will never be the same and priorities will definitely change. Spending time with family is what really matters, working on yourself and being able to know more about yourself and what makes you happy these days is a bless. After the crowd is gone we realize that a day spent at a luxurious restaurant with fake people pretending all the time, and talking behind your back is not worth the one moment you spend with your aging parents, who might go away at any moment, or playing an extra hour with your kids or having a quality time with your partner. These little things are really what life is all about, what is worth investing in and what makes life worth fighting for. Stay safe, wear your mask and remember this too shall pass.

What inspired you to launch a bridal collection? After doing custom bridal gowns for a few years now, it was time to have our own ready-to-wear bridal line. Finding the right wedding dress is not an easy process‌ Trust us, we know! So, we wanted to help the brides who either do not have time to make their wedding dress from scratch, or those who just prefer readymade gowns. We designed a collection to cater for all types of brides. They will definitely say Yes to the dress!
LOUNGE 15
What are the fabrics you used? For starters, all the fabrics we use are imported high end fabrics. We recreate them by adding our own embellishments and embroideries to plain fabrics. So, you can say that we hand make our own fabrics. For this collection, we used tulle, organza, lace, racemir, crepe ‌etc. Describe the personality of the bride who wears from your collection? Actually, for this collection, we were inspired by the different tastes of brides nowadays. It is so versatile, ranging from a classic style to a fresh-off-the-catwalk style. Each gown reflects a specific personality and a specific taste, something for everyone! This is why we named each dress real names - for every gown, there is a character behind it.
LOUNGE 16
What were the biggest challenges you encountered when launching this collection? Since our intention was to come up with a collection that caters all types of style, that probably was the biggest challenge. The variety of styles is endless, so having to downsize it to 12 pieces (for now) and making sure there is a dress for every taste was certainly not easy peasy. However, we made it happen and we are quite happy with the outcome. Also, the feedback has been great too!
LOUNGE 17
LOUNGE 18
In general what are the latest trends for winter 2020? Well, bridal fashion is going for a much simpler approach this year. Light and flowy gowns is the trend! If you wish to take it up a notch, go for oversized sleeves, geometric shapes, or chunky embroidery. Also, do not go for a plain white dress, a subtle pop of color like champagne or gold will make you feel untouchable! The most important thing to keep in mind though is that a wedding dress should be timeless. What are your wishes for Iman Saab designs in 2020? Generally speaking, we hope to expand our line of work. There are a few things in the works so keep an eye on our brands!

REASONS WHY SELF-
Quarantine is Healthy for Relationships
owadays, we are facing critical circumstances as Coronavirus N is going viral all over the world. This threating virus is ver y dangerous as it can spread ver y rapidly and cause death for
old people and who have weak immune system. All countries recommended the self-quarantine to avoid getting the infection. So, we are forced to stay at home and close our doors to avoid this danger. We all feel that we are in prison and can’t stand being alone at home with no external communications. It’s ver y boring to stay home suddenly and be unable to see your friends and relatives. At this moment, you feel you lose your relationships gradually. Mariam Anis brings you 8 reasons why self- quarantine is healthy for your relationships as it’s important for your physical health as well.
1
Its a chance to think about your life and priorities There is a big possibility that your life is filled with lots of appointments, meetings, work, hanging out and commitments. How many times did you wish you had extra time to get away from these responsibilities? How many times did you wish you were not that busy? Now, you have the time to arrange your priorities in life, to delete who and what is not important and replace them with valuable people and valuable things. You have the time to think about your past performance in all of the things in your life! Are you satisfied with what you have done or not?
2
Opportunity to do things you don’t have time to Sometimes you feel you want to read more books, but there was no time to do that. You may want to draw, write your diary, do sports or even sit on the sofa with no plans! Just watch TV and drink your coffee avoiding any kind of stress. Congratulations! Now you can do all what you wanted to do. Try to use your time reading, gaining knowledge and learning more. Reading is definitely a pleasure!
3
Making a distance between people is a healthy matter No one can deny the significance of communicating with people as we can’t live alone. However, we are forced now to stay at home and be away from our friends and our social company. It’s very healthy to take a break from time to time and be isolated for many reasons! First,
LOUNGE 26
you need to recharge your battery and gain more energy and sitting alone a while can achieve that for you. You also need to think again about your actions and reactions with people to enhance your communications and be wiser. Also, you have to learn to be alone for some time as many people can’t stand being alone for a day and want to be surrounded by people all the time.
4
Being alone for a while is one of the secrets of power! Robert Greene wrote in his own book ‘The 48 Laws of Power’ that one of these laws is to stay absent for time and not be around people all the time. You have to know when to appear and when to disappear as you will gain power and charisma when you disappear for a time thus, make people miss you and ask about you. Being around people all the time make them guarantee your presence.
5
It’s time to enjoy loneliness Learn how to enjoy your life with no people and enjoy doing what makes you happy. Its a good chance to watch movies or listen to your favourite music or cook a new recipe. You are now holding the magic wand which is ‘your time,’ create your magical moments!
6
Its a good opportunity to stay with your family Nowadays, family members don’t often communicate with one another even though they live together due to the responsibilities that we have. The main reason of this disconnection is the social media, which made us glued to our phones all the
time even if we are sitting with our family. This period is a good opportunity to all families to sit together and communicate like old days.
7
Try to listen to yourself In the crowd of life, you often don’t pay attention to the sound of your desires, needs and feelings. You pay attention to people’s needs more than your needs. You may follow according their desires or needs with no awareness. When you sit alone and think, you may listen to your heart, learn more about your needs and know exactly what you want to do in life. You may learn the art of controlling your life while enjoying the pleasure of silence for a while!
8
Self-quarantine is healthy for your balance Balance is one of the most important things in our life. Losing balance is a disaster as you feel obscured! Keeping the balance in your life is like keeping the positive energy and being able to give people love, care and appreciation. When you lose your balance, you are therefore unable to give people anything. You may feel unhappy and not satisfied, and this may result in many psychological problems. Keep your balance by taking care of yourself, you can do meditation too. Learn to motivate yourself by yourself!

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE LOGICAL REASONS TO NOT DO WHAT YOU ASPIRE TO DO. SOMETIMES THE CIRCUMSTANCES AROUND US IMPACT US NEGATIVELY, BUT WE SHOULD NEVER LET THAT AFFECT OR DETER US. DON’T LET ANYTHING STOP YOU FROM REACHING YOUR GOALS.
Egyptian architect and interior designer, Hany Saad, has become a prominent figure in the niche field of elegant designs, luxurious finishes and visionary layouts. Amira Tharwat talks to the founder of Hany Saad Innovations about what inspires him, the secret behind his success and his advice to young aspiring architects.
Can you first tell us a bit about yourself? My name is Hany Saad, I’m 39 years old. I graduated from MIU with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture. I’m married and I have 3 kids who I love with all my heart. You were an “A” student at university, has it always been that way, and how do you explain your academic success? I was an “A" student throughout the 5 years of university not because I was a bookworm, but because I had good presentation skills and a good sense in creating new concepts and ideas for projects. Could you share with us a little more about your beginnings in architecture?
I started from scratch; I was the only engineer in my family. Once I graduated from university, I took the decision to work alone which was different from the thinking of my peers at the time. I neither had the experience nor the money to do anything private, but I had the willpower and a strong belief that I can do it on my own. I started with printing ten thousand brochures to promote myself as an interior designer. I went to the newer areas in Cairo and distributed them all around. I actually gave them to the security of the villas and the buildings. What is the secret behind the immense success of Hany Saad Innovations as a pioneer in the interior design field in Egypt? The secret, I believe, is that when I first started I had to do all the tasks and the phases of construction myself. I had no one to teach me and so I taught myself through trial and error and paid for my mistakes and so I learned how to do every single thing; from main sources and suppliers, to learning best practices at every step. I gained a lot of knowledge of the market, the labor force and the material available. Having all of that information at your disposal, you get know the capabilities of the Egyptian labor force and what you are capable of doing and what you can’t do with what you have. And so the added value of HSI is that we can deliver our own designs because we are aware of the structural laws, the constraints that we might face as well as the materials that we can and can’t use.
LOUNGE 29
“AS A DESIGNER AND ARCHITECT, I GET INSPIRED BY ALL OF MY SURROUNDINGS.” What inspires you? As a designer and architect, I get inspired by all of my surroundings. Fashion and trends inspire us as designers, architecture in general, new concepts and graphics. The events, the exhibitions and the seminars I attend when I travel are also an immense source of inspiration. So basically anything and everything can inspire me, and I create a visual library that is filled with the components and elements that I can use in the future. Being genuine and original sets your designs apart, how do you deal with imitators? Imitators are there all the time not just in my case, but with every designer. I don’t pay much attention to them. I focus on my goals because paying attention to everything that happens around me will only make me go off track. On the contrary, I don’t get upset. People imitating your work means that they take you as a reference, which is an achievement in my book. Who are some interior designers that have inspired Hany Saad? Marcel wanders, Tom Ford and Philippe Starck.
You’ve hired more than 500 employees in your company and have a strong belief in the importance of diversity, how do you deal with that huge number during the novel Coronavirus crisis? Today, we are almost at 500 employees, the diversity is not only in the background of the employees, but the places they come from too. We have 25 percent of employees who come from places outside of Cairo and Giza, 25 percent of the force are people with special needs, whom we provide with facilities that makes their work experience more accomodating, 25 percent are fresh graduates and 25 percent have prior experience in the field. I believe that each and everyone has a duty and a way to help their community not only on the professional level, but the humane level as well. That’s why we depend on different perspectives to choose our employees. People with special needs don’t find suitable opportunities, and I try my best to provide them with these opportunities. The Coronavirus has globally affected everyone. At HSI, 80 percent of employees are currently working from home. Hopefully, we will overcome this crisis very soon. We rarely find any personal interviews of you in the media, what’s the reason behind that? Do you prefer that your work make all the noise? I am not a big fan of appearing in the media. I receive invitations to appear on TV, but I do prefer that my work speaks for me. I’m more concerned that I influence people and especially the younger generations. I want them to believe that you don’t have to be rich or have experience to start your business. I started from scratch, in fact, zero was my first target, and thank God, I was able to achieve my dream. That’s the way I want to influence people.
“HSI is not a studio it is a whole organization,” can you elaborate more ont hat statement?
What is your advice to emerging entrepreneurs who dream of being as successful as Hany Saad in interior design?
There’s a popular misconception nowadays that any interior design or architecture firm should be a studio and that they should have around 20 to 25 employees. I wanted to go beyond the idea of a studio to an organization and a firm, and to do that I had to design and construct at the same time. That’s actually what helped make us grow over time, as we covered more and more aspects starting from designing to materials, fabrics and furniture selection to construction and implementation as well as facility management. We also manage housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, swimming pool maintenance, laundry, etc., and that’s one of the reasons we needed a big staff to cover all of that work.
I advise them not to limit themselves. There will always be logical reasons to not do what you aspire to do. Sometimes the circumstances around us impact us negatively, but we should never let that affect or deter us. Don’t let anything stop you from reaching your goals. If God didn’t say that we can’t do something, we shouldn’t listen to people telling us that you can’t do it, you have to have the faith that you can and that you will. You will fail many times, but you will come back stronger. You have to know that every successful step is going to be more difficult than the one before, succeeding makes things harder. You have to take every step at a time, and pass every test.

“HSI HAS BECOME AN INTERNATIONAL BRAND WITH A DIVERSE TEAM SPREAD ACROSS MULTIPLE DISCIPLINES.”
What are the latest trends in interior design for 2020? Organic forms, dusty green color palettes, modern wood paneling, statement tiles and definitely indoor gardens. They say that behind every successful man there is a strong woman, do you agree with that? No, I don’t agree. Behind every successful human is their self and the work they choose to do for their community. What are some of Hany Saad’s dreams for the future?
“We at HSI, have built a solid reputation for the highest standards in design excellence, space planning, interior architecture, and functional practicality.”

My dreams are quite simple I guess. I envision our company as someday being the biggest in the region with more than 10 thousand employees, and I want to go global. On a personal level, I want to live a quiet, simple and safe life with my family.

YOUSSRA THE GEM fter taking us by storm last Ramadan with her exceptional A performance in ‘Khyanet Ahd,’ Amira Tharwat talks to the one and only Youssra to reveal all about the role and her
coming cinematic contribution through ‘Saheb El Makam’ movie written by Ibrahim Issa.
What attracted you the most to ‘Khyanet Ahd?’ The issues the serial handles are new, it tackles issues that we rarely tackled in TV serials, and I prefer the audience to watch the series to know all about it. Why did the name change from ‘Dahab Irah’ to ‘Khyanet Ahd?’ Because the name ‘Dahab Irah’ has a different meaning in the Arab world from we have in Egypt, and when I knew about changing the name to ‘Khyanet Ahd’ it was a surprise for me as well, but I liked it a lot. How was the atmosphere behind the scenes in the time of Coronavirus with your first cooperation with director Sameh Abdel Aziz? Sameh is a beautiful person and a great director. He creates a state of joy in the filming site with his lightness and professionalism as a director and editor. I can’t describe how happy I am to meet him and cooperate with him for the first time. I saw all his work, but I did not imagine that he possesses this character; he is so pure and a real gentleman, and at the same time a wonderful and powerful director. Why do you always choose young actors to participate in your TV serials? Because I like to introduce new and immerging talents, and a large number of the characters in
my TV serials especially in the past 5 to 10 years are young promising actors. You mentioned before that you were the one who chose Hala Shiha for Farah’s role, do you personally choose the actors who participate in your TV serials? This decision belongs to the director alone. I may participate in discussions and nominations if I find an appropriate candidate for a particular role, but in the end it is an advisory opinion and the final decision is for the director. Your name is associated with Ramadan’s season, but we see projects that are shown outside the race and achieve success. Will you do TV serials outside Ramadan season? Definitely, my TV serial ‘Malak Rouhy’ was aired in Egypt after it was aired on MBC in Ramadan; however, the success it received was as if it was its premier. Experts believed we created a new season outside of Ramadan, thanks to the high rate of views. Any good TV serial will prove its success regardless of the time it was aired in. Adel Imam and Youssra are one of the most famous duets of Egyptian cinema, in your opinion, what is the secret behind Adel Imam’s success and being on the top of Egyptian and Arab cinema for half a century? Adel Imam will remain seated on the throne of art because he is smart, real and not fake, he is
a true fan of art. He carried the burden of raising cinema on his shoulder for more than 40 years and has a preference for many people and talents in Egyptian cinema. Adel Imam is a legend that will not be repeated no matter how some try to imitate him, he is unique. With your return to the cinema through ‘Saheb Al Makam,’ what is the secret of your enthusiasm for the movie? And tell us more about your role in the film? I loved my role very much despite the fact that it’s a small role, but it is important and very humane and deep. Each one of us was created with a good and evil part, and when you fall into evil, your good part tries to bring you back to the right path, and there are those who you meet in your life who bring you back to the right path, this is how life goes. Will the movie be aired on Shahid app without being displayed in cinemas? ‘Saheb El Makam’ is in its final stages, but the cinemas are currently closed. Any other decisions related to its display via any platform returns to the producer. The airing of the movie was delayed several times, what was the reason? And what is its destiny in the light of the Coronavirus crisis? The delay first was because of the montage, and then because of the virus. It is difficult to determine the movie’s fate before the crisis ends.

‘Saheb El Makam’ is written by Ibrahim Issa whose work always cause controversy. Do you expect this to happen when the movie sees the light? The film is directed by Mando El Adl and produced by Ahmed El Sobky. I am very happy to work with them and with writer Ibrahim Issa because I am one of his fans and I love his writings. Therefore, I was very happy to work with him and I hope that my role will be different and people like it.

KARIM KASSEM HEADING TO UNIVERSALITY mira Thar wat talks to Wael in last Ramadan’s T V serial A ‘Lama Kona Soghyareen’ to reveal all about his role and his participation in the AUC next 100. The 33 years old actor talks about the second sequel of ‘Awkat Faragh,’ the second part of ‘Mamlaket Ebles’ and his international contributions.
Tell us more about yourself.. I graduated from the American University in Cairo, Theater major. I am 33 years old and I am single. My star sign is Libra. How were you nominated for your role in ‘Lama Kona Soghayareen?’ I worked before with producer Ahmed Abd El Aty in ‘Nassiby We Kesmetk,’ second and third seasons. He contacted me to do this role, which is my third collaboration with him and the second collaboration with director Mohamed Ali after ‘El Horrob’ in 2012. Tell us more about your role... The plot of the TV series revolves around a group of five, who became friends at university and then work at the same agency. I play Wael, the joker of the group. He believes in the good of people and becomes shocked and upset when he sees drama unfolding within the group. Throughout the events of the series, Wael discovers the dark side of his friends. Shooting at the time of Corona was very challenging, how did you manage to work under these circumstances? Shooting at the time of Corona was very challenging and stressful, and we tried to take as much precautions as we could, and hopefully, I didn’t get infected! What is your comment on the controversy caused by the poster of the TV serial? No comment. I am not a party in this issue. What is the role you dream of doing? I dream of doing a historical piece whether it’s a movie or a TV series. What is the role you watched and wished you could have done? The movie 13th warrior starring Antonio Banderas. I watched the movie when I was a kid and I thought when I grow up I want to play that part. What is your favourite book? I do not read a lot of novels, I mainly read selfdevelopment books. My favourite two books are ‘E-Squared’ and ‘Talking to Yourself is Not Crazy.’ How do you spend your time during the quarantine? Actually, I wish I can quarantine! I’m shooting the series on a daily basis now and I try to take all the precautions. So, I am spending it at work.
LOUNGE 38
What are the things you missed the most because of self-quarantine? Going to the club, playing sports, going to the gym and running. You participated in the AUC next 100 campaign, tell us more about it… The university contacted me, and I actually watched the video from the last year before that, which I liked so much. We shot on campus and the concept was that Dash is starting his studies at the university, when I actually graduated 10 years ago. It was kind of handing knowledge to next generations. It was a great experience. There was also an interview about my experience while studying at AUC and what I’ve learnt throughout these years. A 100 years from now you want people to remember you as the actor who changed the perspective of how people see acting in Egypt, why and how? How? By working on myself. Training other actors like I have been doing through acting workshops in the past 10 years following the method ‘acting slowly but surely.’ I want to make the new generation work in a more truthful way. Why? Because our industry has been going on for 102 years now, and unfortunately, currently the strongest cinema in Africa is Nigeria not Egypt. We deserve to be in a better position. We do have great actors with special talents, but unfortunately, there is a perspective that has been taken from some that we aren’t professional. There is a craft behind acting and it’s really difficult. You have to constantly train and work on yourself, and we actually have many actors who do that, it’s like to be an athlete. That’s how I want to make people look at an actor; professionals who have a craft. You have some acting contributions internationally, would you share some of them with us? I participated in ‘The State,’ a British series in 2017 produced by channel 4 then, ‘Sawah’ film directed by the Egyptian-Luxembourgian director Adolf El Assal. ‘Sawah’ was written by Dennis Foon, it follows the story of Samir, a young Egyptian DJ. The film took part in more than 36 prestigious film festivals around the world and won 12 awards so far. The film is available on more than one VOD in Luxembourg and Belgium. Also, ‘Sawah’ to be streamed through 50 countries on Netflix starting from May 14 in the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, Luxembourg, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
LOUNGE 39
Ext. Nigh was in the top 10 for more than a week when it was released on Netflix. Do you think that the film finally got what it deserves? I was very happy. I believe that the success of a movie is to be watched by a lot of audience, which is the reason why we make movies. Tell us about the feedback on your character in ‘Mamlket Eblis’ S01, the release date of S02, and what the audience should expect from ‘Hamasa’ in Part 2.. Playing Hamasa was certainly different because playing a character in this kind of parallel universe was liberating in a way! I mean, I didn’t have to stick to the rules of playing a character from a shaby neighbourhood in a typical sense. It gave me freedom to explore and try new things. I didn’t expect that feedback from a lot of audience on the series since it debuted on a new streaming platform, but I was pleasantly surprised by how many people watched it and responded to it. We expect that part 2 will be released after Eid, and unfortunately, I can’t really talk about what will happen in Part 2; time will tell. Tell us more about the second sequel of ‘Awkat Faragh’... I’m very excited to be reunited with ‘Aw2at Faragh’ crew. I think it’s going to be truthful and representative of this generation’s experience: the daily struggles, conflicts and the fights to survive. Hopefully, the Coronavirus won’t delay the project though! What else are you working on? I just finished ‘Lama Kona Soghareen,’ and I recently produced a movie called ‘The Ditch.’ We are still in post-production, and hopefully, we send it to the festivals when everything open up.

Eating Well & Exercising Are Good For Bipolar Disorder According to the National Institute of Mental Health, bipolar disorder (BPD) is “a manic-depressive illness that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, and activities that make it difficult to carry out day-to-day-tasks.” Bipolar disorder affects millions of people worldwide, yet few people fully understand how it works or what the real symptoms of bipolar disorder are. While it won’t cure bipolar disorder, eating right, exercising regularly and sleeping regularly is good for you. While these won’t end your bipolar disorder, you may experience fewer episodes and less powerful mood swings, depending on who you are.
Postpartum Depression Usually Lasts 6 Months
If you’re like most women, you’ll probably experience some form of temporary depression within the first couple of weeks after giving birth. That’s because your levels of estrogen and progesterone are dropping quickly, which can trigger mood swings. This form of mild, short-lived depression is normal. What’s not normal is if your depressed mood continues for months, or even years, after birth. This means you likely have a case of postpartum depression, and it should be taken seriously.
Can You Get Pregnant After Menopause?
For the most part, it’s common knowledge that, once a woman stops having her period, then she also stops having the ability to have children. Or at least it was, until news reports highlight that women past childbearing age are able to give birth to their own grandchildren in some instances. When you’re no longer getting your period, your body is officially done with its reproductive years for good, and you cannot get pregnant naturally after menopause. You can; however, get pregnant during perimenopause, or the lead-up to menopause.
Berries Are A Mood-Boosting Snack
Loaded with antioxidants for brain health, berries are particularly fantastic because they’ll assuage sweet craving without spiking your blood sugar. “Berries are high in water and fiber to keep your digestive system regular, which will also improve your mood and sense of well-being,” explains De Fazio. Eat them on their own or mix them into some unsweetened Greek yogurt. Blending frozen berries with water or unsweetened almond milk is another great option, particularly in the warmer weather months.
Raisins Are Good for Your Teeth
A study showed that grape products, including raisins, benefit oral health. Earlier researcher Christine D. Wu did a study and found that raisins contain phytochemicals, which could fight the bacteria that causes cavities and gum disease in the mouth. Another study proved their benefit to oral health. So there is plenty of proof confirming the magic of raisins for your teeth.

INSTAGRAM PARTNERS WITH TBWA RAAD AND EGYPTIAN FOOD BANK TO #STOPFOODWASTE
Instagram has teamed up with regional creative agency TBWA/Raad for its new campaign, #Stopfoodwaste that aims to address the problem of food wastage during Ramadan. Using the brand’s latest AR technology, TBWA/RAAD created a filter that allows people to create Ramadan meals with minimal leftovers. Hosted on the Egyptian Food Bank’s social channels, the new filter offers users multiple recipes with the option to size up or down based on how many people will be sharing a meal. Egyptian Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that specializes in fighting hunger through innovation and diversity. The new filter will be available on Instagram and can be used on Facebook as well. “Food wastage is a massive issue during Ramadan as we tend to overcook on a daily basis, with left-overs piling up. With the health and safety restrictions this year, families cannot even donate the excess food and will be forced to bin it, which is not good for the community or the environment,” stated Reda Raad, Group CEO of TBWA\RAAD. “This filter was designed so that instead of estimating ingredients and portion sizes, the community can now plan out and create delicious Ramadan meals with minimum leftovers.”

E-COMMERCE IN CAIRO IS WITNESSING AN EXCITING WAVE OF TRANSFORMATION, SAYS JLL
The global Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a new wave of transformation in e-commerce in Cairo and across Egypt, according to JLL’s Q1 Cairo Real Estate Market Performance report. Due to the closure of malls, the logistics landscape in Egypt is transforming. Consumers have had a taste for the efficiency associated with e-commerce, and therefore the sector is now striving to keep up with the exceptional increase in demand for online shopping. From this, according to the report, stems the need to innovate and adopt new agile ways of working, whilst abandoning the traditional models of doing business in order to thrive. As a result, more and more retailers are examining the interplay between bricksand mortar, as well as online retailing, in order to compete in a rapidly changing environment. This is also increasing the demand for new and better quality warehouses and distribution centers as retailers continue to grow their consumer base and promise more choice and convenience.
CYBERSECURITY LESSONS FROM THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The real world is fragile. It is unnerving, to say the least, to see how a virus can cause such massive disruptions across the globe. The digital world is fragile as well, as rampant cyberattacks have shown us. It is no coincidence that some of the language we use to describe cybersecurity threats is taken from the biological world, specifically terms such as “viruses” and “infections.” The similarities are striking. Perhaps this is a teachable moment. How do we apply lessons from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic to the world of cybersecurity? Coronavirus, like many computer viruses, was a zero-day attack. There was no forewarning, no minor outbreak where it could be contained before proliferating. Then it spread quickly, with no treatment or mitigation, causing enormous devastation. It spread surreptitiously, with many individuals being infected before they showed any symptoms. Coronavirus is transmitted by individuals when they interact in person, mimicking the spread of computer viruses within a network. All of these attributes mirror certain types of computer malware. As my Palo Alto Networks colleague Ryan Olson notes: “The earliest examples of computer viruses would write extra code into another executable file and change the entry point to start execution at their code. This is nearly identical to a biological virus, which can’t live on its own and must attach to a host cell to survive and reproduce.”
