Belinda Nihill is a qualified interior designer and mother of two who specialises in nursery and children’s rooms. Fairy Cookies In A Jar Favours What you need 1 jar approx 1 litre capacity 115g plain flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 75g brown sugar 80g caster sugar 70g rolled oats 200g chocolate chips/nuts/sultanas/dried fruit
Sugar Fairy Dust What you need Caster Sugar Food coloring (Liquids are easier to work with) Fork Bowl Baking paper Plate
How to
Place required sugar in bowl
(or a combination)
Add a few drops of food colouring
Additional ingredients needed
Keep adding colouring and sugar until you achieve desired colour
110g melted butter 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Using a fork mix together in the bowl
cover plate with baking paper Place sugar on plate and spread it out Allow to dry overnight Any clumps can be broken up with a fork or finger Layer colour sugar into jars and use a fairy dust
Pour the mixture into prepared sterilised jar Layer the following ingredients brown sugar, caster sugar, oats and finally chocolate chips. Seal jar with lid, decorative elements and instructions
Cookie Preparation Pre-heat oven to 190째C.
Line baking tray with baking paper. Pour contents of jar into a mixing bowl. Add additional ingredients - butter, egg and vanilla. Stir until combined. Place tablespoons of the mixture on baking tray approximately 10cm apart. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes

How to
Print out the star template onto card stock and cut out. Using this as your guide, trace around the star on the reverse of the glitter card. Remember you’ll need two stars per guest. Wrap the ribbon around the balloon stick and tie off at the end with a pretty bow. Using your hot glue gun, adhere the balloon stick to the smooth side of the glitter card. Let set. While this is setting, adhere your letter bling to the front of your other piece of glitter card. Finally, adhere the two stars and balloon stick together, using your hot glue gun.

COCONUT MARSHMALLOWS Marshmallows are delicious & super easy to make! Our friends at Sunbeam have shared with us their scrumptious recipe.
What you need 3/4 cup self raising flour 1/3 cup gelatine
How to Combine gelatine and 1 cup of cold water. Stand for 5 minutes Stir sugar and 2 cups of hot water in a large saucepan over low heat until sugar dissolves. Bring to boil. Add gelatine mixture; simmer, uncovered for 20 minutes. Cool to room temperature. Transfer sugar mixture to the Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl. Add juice. Using the Whisk, begin beating on low speed (1). Gradually increase to very high speed (12) over 15 minutes. Mixture should be very thick and hold its shape. Rinse a 20cm x 30cm lamington pan with cold water; do not dry. Line pan with baking paper. Spread marshmallow mixture into pan. Sprinkle with enough coconut to cover the surface. Allow to set at room temperature for 2 hours or until firm.
4 cups caster sugar
Cut marshmallow into squares using a wet knife. Toss in remaining coconut.
2 teaspoons lemon juice
Place marshmallow into cellophane bags and tie with coloured ribbon for a great gift idea.

Having been featured on Oprah and prominent international blogs such as Amy Atlas and TomKat Studio, Sharnel Dollar is a renown stylist, whose work you would recognise in lovely publications such as Adore Home & Peekaboo magazines. We enjoyed a lovely conversation with Sharnel to find out why she started styling and where she draws her inspiration from
Why did you start styling? My journey was an organic one. One thing lead to another and here I am, doing what I love. I started off creating parties for my children and soon became obsessed with making cupcakes and cakes. Not long after I discovered Amy Atlas and world was changed instantly.
Describe your style? Classic with a certain amount of structure. I love colour and I’m not afraid to use it.
How do you stay inspired? I’m such a visual gal, keeping my eyes open makes me inspired. How can you not be inspired when you look out your window each morning and see the beautiful world we live in. I particularly love looking at flowers, colour swatches, papery and interiors.

Top 5 styling tips for dessert tables Set up your display a week in advance and play around with your cake stands and props. Use lots of height and dimension on your table. Pull the entire table together with a suitable backdrop. It’s not necessary to fill the entire table with food and props. Less is more. Find your own style and refine it. Inspired by Love JK’s fun new construction party invitation, Styled By Belle had a lot of fun “building” this construction themed party! The dessert table was a focus of the party and Styled By Belle created a tool bench to display the delicious sweet treats. Using an old garden bench, we spray painted it black, used a piece of MDF board to create the table top, and then mounted some peg board from Bunnings on the back. A range of tools (raided from Dad’s tool shed) were hung on the peg board to bring the table to life.

Queen Baker created a delicious 2-tier chocolate mud cake made to look like a builders waist with tool belt and tools, and a yellow hard hat (made of cake) on top. The cake sat atop a wooden crate that was wrapped with yellow & black barricade tape. Other sweet treats included “hard hat” (cake pops), “wet paint” (chocolate dipped marshmallows), tool cookies which were displayed in a cute wooden tool box caddy, construction cupcakes (which were displayed on a plastic tool box), “hi-vis jelly”, yellow & black macarons displayed in a paint tin container – as well as some fun lollies which were given construction equipment names i.e. pipes, wrecking balls, pebbles . The kids table setting utilised black & yellow tablecloth, simple black plates & cups/bottles with cute “FUEL” labels stuck on them. Adorable custom Above the guests were greeted with these fun Construction Signs (See page 48 for free download)
printed wooden cutlery, by Bespoke Party Products were placed on the plates held together with a cable tie and tag that read “Tools of the trade”. A large toy dump truck was positioned as the table centrepiece and had chocolate clusters filled in the dump tray to look like big dirt rocks. A beverage dispenser filled with orange cordial was displayed on a ladder with a sign that read “Fuelling Station”. The kids sat on cute tool box bench seats and were provided with plastic yellow “hard hats” to wear. The kids had loads of fun playing in the digging zone, building blocks and practicing their hammering skills at the hammer station! These games are super easy to organise, and kept them well and truly entertained. As a thank you, each guest was given a dump truck

Simple plastic container filled with sand and toy trucks to play with. HAMMERING STATION Cheap $12 toy tool benches from Kmart with a block of polystyrene foam (available from Spotlight or cake decorating shops). Kids were given toy hammers and golf tees to hammer into the foam blocks. A fun way for the budding builders to be on the tools, without the risk of hurting themselves with real hammer & nails! CONE TOSS Kids had reels of pipes to try and throw over the safety cones/witches hats TOY BLOCKS What more do boys love than building blocks!

Belinda’s says “ I like to limit to a colour palette of 2 (sometimes 3 colours) and having those colours flow throughout the entire event. If possible, I also try and create a mock up of my table before the event. I play around with props and different cake stands and vessels till I get the balanced look I am happy with.”
