"Yes, sure I canl"-and then after one twist of the wrench, you know you should have called a plumber. I

lf Jesus asked us "Can you drink the cup that I drink?," would we be as quick to answer "Yes, sure I canl"? We should answer so confidently only if we're fully prepared to do as Jesus did-to live as a servant. Parents, do you serve your children? Bosses, do you serve your employees?

Catholics believe marriage is a sign of God's never ending love and faithfulness. Therefore, marriages are indissoluble; a marriage ends only when a spouse diesunless the marriage wasn't sacramental, which is where

WecNneselay,O*aber 24 5t. Anthonu MarU (laret Hi*hop

the annulment comes in.

t /''\qJX

Contrary to popular belief annulment is not a liturgical divorce. It's an investigation into a marriage to see whether it was sacramental. If the Church determines that something essential was missing from the marriage right from the start, it grants the annulment. The Church is saying that although the couple were legally married, they were not sdcrdmentally matned.

No. Annulment is not a declaration by the Church that a marriage didn't exist. It's a declaration that the marriage was never sacramental, which is different from saying it wasn't legal. Couples must get a civil divorce before they can apply for annulment, because annulment doesn't affect the legality of their marriage

A monk does not just study dogmas; he lives by them. When he reads the Holy Scripture or the patristic writings, he is not doing it to gain knowledge but to learn a language of ineffable words with which God speaks through one's prayer.
