dioceses or parishes

might have guidelines, but the universal Church doesn't, and sandards of modesty vary. One would presume that people getting married in a church, or even just attending Mass, would understand proper decorurn. By the time the bridal party is entering the church, it's too late for the priest to do anything about the gowns, although I have heard of a priest who gave the bride a handkerchief to cover herself Parishes should have guidelines that cover dress for all members of the bridal party and for photography, music, and participation in the Eucharist.

These guidelines should be given to the couple when they prepare for the sacrament to avoid embarrassing situations in the vestibule right before the wedding.

ffi

Ask your pastor if your archdiocese or parish has such guidelines. If it doesn't, offer to help draw them up.
