miss bahamas organization
As President of the Miss Bahamas Organization, I take great pleasure in congratulating Anishka Lockhart and the entire team behind the Miss Bahamas Teenager pageant on the staging of your inaugural competition. You have embarked on a journey that can be difficult at times, but is rewarding all the same. One look at what is happening with the young women in our country today, and you can see why programs like the Miss Teenager Bahamas pageant are so vitally needed. Our young women need to be taught values and principles, and they need to be reminded that they were born for a purpose. My hope is that each young lady will walk away from this experience better and not bitter, and that they would have experienced tremendous growth as a result of their participation. Only one of them will walk away with a crown, but they will all walk away as queens. May the best teenager win and may she always walk worthy of the crown, knowing that carrying the title of Miss Bahamas Teenager is indeed a privilege. Have a great show!

Welcome to the most extraordinary display of charm, effeminateness, and refinement in the Bahamas - the 2014 Miss Bahamas Teenager Pageant! Tonight you have congregated to see the “Impeccable Nine” compete for the first time ever for the most prestigious teen title in the Bahamas, and we are convinced that as tonight’s momentum swells, you will not be dissatisfied. It has been more than four months since we first met this year’s contestants- all of them who were moths hungry for knowledge, understanding and growth. And as the weeks turn into months we saw the diversity of beauties come into their own, blazing in self-confidence, a sense of direction, self-worth and purpose filled young ladies. Like our contestants, the Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization has also grown. We would like to be known for that teen pageant that actually transforms the lives of our teens. Our reigning queen has done some specular and unforgettable things during her reign. Her sash and crown made you look at her but her personality, attitude, and drive got her places she never dreamt she would be. She placed in the top five beating our 35 other countries from around the world at the Miss Teenager Universe pageant July 2013 in Panama. Shavon also went on to compete in the Elite Look Bahamas Competition in early September of 2013 and walked away beating more 99 contestants who auditioned and competed for that title giving her another opportunity to compete internationally in China October of 2013 with other models from around the world. These are some big shoes for our future teen queen to fill.
I would like to dedicate this message to my sister Yvette Juliet Lockhart who saw my purpose long before I did. She was that person responsible for introducing me into the world of pageantry and from the tender age of sixteen years old, I either was participating in pageants, and from 2006 to this current date, working for the Miss Bahamas Organization with one of my mentors Ms. Michelle Malcolm. I have acquired the Miss Bahamas Teenager pageant December of 2012. Most people that know who I am know that pageantry is in my veins and now acquiring a pageant has really given me that true taste of pageantry in its entirety. MBTO is forever grateful, first and foremost to the almighty God in his unwavering blessings and guidance; secondly, all of our sponsors who made it all possible for the organization in getting the job done especially during this introductory process of the upcoming Value Added Tax regime. We would like to publicly thank as well the sponsor of our contestants who believed in giving our youths an opportunity to enhance themselves and a chance becoming a youth ambassador. Additionally, we wish to acknowledge those who sponsored our pageant and contestants in tonight’s pageant, without your generosity this pageant would not have come into fruition. To my team including my daughter Aysha-Cassidi and supporters, I say a heartfelt thank you for making our organization shine bright like a diamond within the local and international pageantry industry. You have all done an exceptional job and I couldn’t have done it without any of you. Your support, commitment, and ideas will keep this organization blooming. To my current queen Shavon Hailey Nottage you have made me proud every single time keep soaring and know that the organization is always here for you. This year’s contestants are vying for the Miss Bahamas Teenager title. The new titleholder will carry the country’s flag all the way to Guatemala August of 2014 to compete in the international pageant Miss Teenager Universe 2014. Tonight we present to you “Teen Evolution… The New Era’. Enjoy the show as the “Impeccable Nine” heat up the stage for that beautiful George Wittels crown and prestigious title of Miss Bahamas Teenager.
Message from the Patron
It is a delight and privilege for me to lend patronage to the inaugural Miss Teenager Bahamas Pageant as the Organization embarks on staging “Teen Evolution…The New Era”.
Pia T. I congratulate and salute the National Director of the Organization, Ms. Anishka Lockhart, and her entire team on taking time from their Glover-Rolle lives to uplift, inspire, empower, develop and mentor the young ladies of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas; beginning with one – Shavon Nottage, and now the nine enchanting young ladies that will take the stage tonight. Indeed, the Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization will go on to impact hundreds of young Bahamian teenage girls over the years ahead. Ms. Anishka Lockhart and her team are committed to the success of the organization and molding young ladies through positive training and encouraging each contestant to make Christ the center of their lives. There is never a shortage of good, positive, life enriching programs for young people. Being a former Miss Teen Bahamas and pageant competitor myself, I have first-hand knowledge of the amount of wholesome preparation that every pageant contestant receives. Although only one young lady ultimately walks away with the crown, every contestant walks away with a wealth of information, wisdom and life skills that will benefit her for the rest of her life. Not only will each contestant benefit from the pageant training and grooming that they have received over the last few months, but more significantly, they have been given the tools they need to improve from the inside. They have received guidance and advice that will impact them spiritually, mentally, socially, emotionally and physically! I applaud the parents and sponsors as your support is a critical component. Not only does your support assist in making this pageant a success, but it is also very important to each young lady that has entered and taken one step closer to realizing her goal. To the nine remarkable contestants; congratulations on being shining stars and performing exceptionally throughout the entire pageant preparation and preliminary process. You are all better than the day you started and each of you will end the night with more than you came into the program with. The possibilities for your lives are endless and the world is yours to conquer! Once again, congratulations to the Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization and thank you for all of the hard work you do in molding young women. Tonight, we all look forward to the coronation of the new Miss Teenager Bahamas! Best regards, Pia T. Glover-Rolle

miss bahamas teenager
2013
In summer 2013, Shavon was chosen as Miss Bahamas teenager 2013. When she heard the news she was excited and overwhelmed not only because this would be her third title but also because she was that girl chosen out of all the girls in the country to represent the Bahamas. Although the news was amazing she did not know what to except. But being that girl who would take on any challenge she humbly accepted the title and her life has not been the same ever since. Shavon represented the Bahamas at the 2013 Miss Teenager Universe Pageant in Panama. She had a marvelous time touring the beautiful country for one week, making countless new friends, and getting to experience more than 35 cultures from around the universe. Shavon was the citizen’s favorite contestant in Panama, always being stopped throughout the streets, malls and beaches in Panama for her autographs and photo ups. She and Jasmine Stringer Miss teenager Australia became very close in the competition and continue to stay in touch. In her own words, her year has been amazing, fun, challenging at times, but definitely fulfilling. She says after travelling the world and experiencing different cultures, her most valuable lesson has been to appreciate the Bahamas even more as our country is blessed even through the Bahamas is a third world country it is one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. Once her reign is complete, Shavon will continue to pursue her goal of becoming a professional model and school teacher. The Miss Bahamas Teenager Organization wishes Shavon all the best in her future endeavors. Our thanks go out to her for being such a joy to work with, and being a recognizable, and remarkable youth ambassador for the Bahamas!
contestant testimonials
Upon entering the Miss Bahamas Teenager pageant, I was under the assumption that it would be based on modeling, beauty and glamour. However, as the training went on, my outlook on pageants changed. I have learnt confidence, Self-discipline, Self-control and what it truly mean to be beautiful, not only physical but internal as well. Nonetheless, my experience was enchanting. My advice to those contemplating participating in pageants, are: Have aspirations Determine if pageantry can assist you in achieving your goals, And physically and mentally prepare for the intense training. Therefore, you should not be discouraged, because with the final analysis, you won’t be disappointed. Once you believe, you can achieve, so just believe!
Sincerely, Miss Teenager Paradise IslandAndrea Bowleg. Before I entered the pageant life, I had already put in my mind that I would take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way. Just like every other female, I had weaknesses and I still do; but I’m stronger now. I was always depicted as “ultra-sensitive”; however this pageant has changed my life tremendously. I can truly say I am not easily aroused to critics; being confident is not an option! Although I have experienced a lot of difficulties, through that experience, I was able to gain self-satisfaction, and patience! The reason why I encourage young ladies to enter this innovative Program is because this program builds your character, it also reminds you that you are a queen and most definitely, it allows you to flaunt your beauty. In conclusion, I also believe that being in a pageant is not only an extracurricular activity, it is my dream that one day, I with great enthusiasm, will proudly represent and serve my country as Miss Bahamas Teenager! Confident, Miss Teenager Eleuthera-Tyarah Delaney
The most profound way that the pageant has changed my life is that everyone who knows me has remarked that I have gone from being an introvert to extrovert. The pageant has made me dig within myself and exposed My God-given ability to go beyond even what I thought I do or say. It has unearthed treasures within me and for that, I am truly grateful. I will encourage young ladies to join Miss Bahamas teenager by going to my church and visit my former educational institution to encourage them to enter this program because I believe that every young lady can grow and flower into a stronger and more confident individual. As true strength comes from within, the program is the perfect vehicle if you have the courage to take that journey. Truly yours, Miss Teenager Berry IslandsSavannah Burrows Joining the Miss Bahamas Teenager pageant has been such an exciting and spectacular journey for me over the past six months. There were times when we had the most of fun, cracked jokes, laughed at each other’s mistakes and there were times when we shed tears, got angry and got on the directors last nerves. Even though some days were rough, the others were mostly smiles. When I first came into this competition I was empty, I didn’t know who I was as a person, I lacked self- confidence and self-esteem but this experience has completely changed the way I saw life, I’ve been molded into a vibrant, elegant and independent young lady who is not afraid to back down and has developed a mindset to keep moving forward no matter the circumstance. Throughout the journey the committee has become a family to me, they were always there and always had faith in me from day one. I’m really going to miss that. This has not just been a competition, it was a life changing journey, so win or lose I know that I AM now a QUEEN INISDE AND OUT. Forever Your, Miss Teenager Abaco-Lakeisha Curry
The Miss Bahamas Teenager Pageant made a great impact on my life, when I look back I can really say I did improve form my pass. The help I got with public speaking, relinquish my shyness and made me speak up to certain things I could of voice my opinion on. The committee members also made sure that I defeated one of the biggest challenges I suffered with in my life, which is having Confidence in me. The progress I made when it came down to my confidence level was amazing I couldn’t believe it myself, I stopped letting what people said bring me down and started encouraging myself with a little pray every single day. If I really had to give someone who’s interested in entering the Miss Bahamas Teenager Pageant it would be, allow your light to shine, Never give on things that can be a challenge for you, Respect yourself no matter if others don’t , make your aspirations a priority , discover and fulfill you purpose. Cheerful, Caring and Kind, Miss Teenager Grand Bahama-Jamie Ferguson The Miss Bahamas Teenager Pageant is more than beauty, glitz and glamour. The pageant helps build your character and finding the lady in you. It Reminds me that “nothing just happens; there is a purpose for everything”. With the standards of this pageant, it helped me to be an exemplary role model in today’s society. You ought to “Walk Talk and Think worthy of the crown. That is what this pageant constantly reminds me of. I would encourage future teens considering entering a pageant of this magnitude, to come fully prepared to work hard, that’s what I did. I Executed my platform and promoted myself. The Miss Bahamas Teenager pageant has impacted my life because the program allowed me to show other young ladies how well diverse and driven I am to be crowned Miss Bahamas Teenager 2014-2015. Miss Bahamas Teenager Pageant is setting its trail for greatness. Your Future Youth Ambassador, Miss Bahamas Teenager MayguanaRhodesia Johnson
This pageant so far affected my life in many ways that I would not even imagine from the people I met and the opportunities that I would of think that I would even make it this far into the pageant. I would encourage all teenage girls to join a pageant once in their life for the once in a lifetime experiences and gaining amazing friendships that will last a long time. Unique, Witty and Tender, Miss Teenager Long Island-Chizara Hudson Before I was a contestant in the Miss Teenager Bahamas Pageant, I had neither confidence nor self-esteem. As the months of training went by, I eventually grew into the lady I am today. Although I may not be perfect, I’m much better than I was before and now I’m proud to call myself a lady; I would encourage other ladies to join the pageant by reaching out to those I see is a potential contestant because someone saw the potential in me and helped me to bring it out by entering me. I raise my head high with pride thanks to the directors of this organization, I’m a better individual. Potential filled, Miss Teenager Bimini-Amber Roberts When you want something in life you must work for it, and when you get it you must work to keep it. This pageant taught me that beauty is far beyond the skin, but it’s in the heart. I most definitely will encourage teens considering entering this pageant program to go for it because not only does it change your outlook on life but it will teach you to become that person God really wants you to be which is a purposed filled young lady. No matter whom you are or where you came from, always remember that we all have an invisible crown on our heads. And in order to keep that crown we must stand tall, believe in ourselves, have integrity, be humble, stay focus and most importantly put God first. Always remember that “silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted.” Humble and So Adorable, Miss Teenager New ProvidenceShanice Toussaint
