Brief • I wanted to create a book using illustration , and using the story of Frankenstein. I aimed for a different more modern version. If hed had a job for instance what would his life be like, and if he’d continued what would he be doing. • I presumed his job if he had one would be grafting, lifting heavy things, so I looked at the idea of him being an American truck driver. • I wanted to use humour as the main them, but I also wanted to show a more sad and serious side to his character.

Development I started by developing the ideas and making roughs. I used both the blog and the sketch book to develop my ideas. I used different mediapen, pencil, fine liner- in order to see if this made a difference to the portrayal of the character. Would a pencil create softer features, or a pen harder features? With pencil you can create a softer shadow.

Finals These are the final 6 images. I used 2 media to make them. Five are all made using the same media and the 6th is different and was made using spray paint.

Application • I should have made a book containing all the illustrations, and potentially made more than 6 illustrations. I could have- and intend to- use my experience with book-binding to actually create a book. • I am pleased with this powerful colour palette and the powerful shapes in the images. The images of the hand are amongst my favourites. There is a key sequential order to them- Frankenstein looking down, then a double page of him looking at his hands, then a further look down to the detailed boots. This was a way of summing up the concept of a working man’s hand and his boots. Looking at hands tells a story of our lives.
