OLD BUSINESS sdccu oc marathon

On November 11, I volunteered at the OC Marathon. It was a very memorable and fun experience! The main job I did was handing out medals to all the runners who accomplished the Surf City Marathon, Long Beach Marathon, and this marathon. I would mark a specific stamp on their marathon number before handing them their medal. It was very fun doodling on their numbers. After they receive their medals, they would cheer with their friends and family as they have achieved their goal of running in the three marathons. It was very nice seeing the joy on their faces, as seeing them happy also made me happy as well. One significant factor when volunteering was meeting many volunteers from different schools. I enjoyed working with the other volunteers from different schools, as we got to know each other better and bond. Overall, volunteering at the OC Marathon was a very memorable experience, as I enjoyed seeing the joy on the runner’s faces and meeting new people!

On November 6th, D04N hosted its November DCM at Garden Grove Park. The fifth spirit session was held after the DCM to prepare for Fall Rally South the very next week. At the DCM, each club in the division recapped the fun services, events, and fundraisers they had. Katie and DLT also recapped the division’s events and how much money they raised from their fundraisers. I was shocked to find out how much the division made from their fundraisers! At the DCM, clubs were even selling food and drinks, such as milk tea from 7 Leaves, to fundraise for the Pediatric Trauma Program. To kick off the spirit session, we played fun ice breakers to meet other people and get to know each other. I enjoyed playing Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift because we had to simultaneously switch directions whenever someone said Lady Gaga or Taylor Swift then we had to form groups with a certain amount of people. After the ice breaker, we went on to practice the cheers as well as learn one of the bigger cheers. We also played another ice breaker, dragon tails, to take a break from the cheers. I thought that the November DCM and fifth spirit session was fun because it was more chill than the other spirit sessions, and I interacted with lots of people.

y's letter writing mForatherMary's letter writing, we had some time

writing out some cards for patients over a zoom call and I thought overall it was pretty fun and relaxing. We first started with some Key Club interacting with some fun icebreakers and then once it was time for card making, we went into a couple of breakout rooms for music, movies, etc. I had some quiet time and it was really serene just to make cards so it was a fun service event. I got to draw really cute characters on the cards and write sweet messages to those who needed some happiness. It was around an hour of card making, but it felt quick, not really boring so it was a great way to spend some time and gain service hours. It was towards a great cause and so I thought why not? Overall, I'm glad I didn't miss out on this opportunity.

murdy movie night

At the Murdy Movie event I went to, I had a really fun and enjoyable experience. During the event, I helped pass out pizza with another club member who I quickly became friends with. Afterwards, I helped make hot chocolate for the families and kids who attended. This was one of my memorable experiences from that night because I got to make friends with another key clubber. Also, seeing all the families enjoying their hot chocolate with a smile on their faces made me light up. Despite the cold weather, I had a really great time working at the event and making friends with other members. Even after the event ended there were leftover snacks and food that we were allowed to take home and eat ourselves which I enjoyed. My time at the event was overall exciting and memorable and I look forward to many other future events like this.
